searing pain reemerges
each time I pass the hospital
creeping up to burn my eyes
subsiding with time, but never forgotten
when the doctor gave his prognosis
all Dad’s children were there
blades of hopelessness hit my heart
cutting it into pieces
instructions came in his living will
we did as he requested
wishing I could take this last journey with him
but knowing he would want us to thrive
my hand on his, I bowed my head
the puddle beneath me grew with each tear
another loving memory
another agonizing drop
many minutes seemed to pass
after machines were disconnected
too many minutes
too many memories

Here is my ecological faith
rooted in experience
yet to flower in things unseen,
relationships unfelt,
communications not yet heard,
tasted and spit out;
Savored
When I touch another life's body
with kindness
I am thereby touched in return
by remediation,
immediate
intimate compassion,
CoPassion
Perhaps this is also innocently true
of touching minds
with kind and curious intent,
compassionate purpose,
But,
that is about my active hope,
already extending out
further family projections
from healing inside faith experience
that reemerges faith healing imaged future,
fluidly resonant
and co-presently resilient.

Whispering shadow
Drenched darkness of loam
Under the crust of earth
Reassures sprout seedlings
Roots of emotions
Delve in heart for stream
Revealing no identity
For thorn or flower
For sweet or sour
For hatred or love!
You slammed your window panes every evening
And clumsily screened curtains the way
A bubbling spring
Dashing on rocks of dismay
An amorous intrusion
You wanted to keep at bay!
A lonesome gaze
By opaque hint of eyes
Might have splashed
Into the blue lagoon
That gladly reemerges
In your cozy solitude
Real enough
To implant irrevocable kiss on his heart
Between the pages of book you read
Behind the dressing mirror you glimpsed
On shining blade of cookery you used
You saw him
You pinched yourself
And you didn’t wake up
Until lugubrious shrill
Of mid-night bird
Walloped ripples of numbness
Flailing lure crept around
In oozing darkness
Out of invitingly open window
Like a white ghost!
In my obscurely fettered conscience
Crystals of conflict sparkled
Deep seated within
An amorphous mixture of
The obstinate lust for looking
And some old love!
