POETRY IS A RECITED ART

as folk talk
&recite
they naturally
 pause
after one breath..
thus gramatical symbols
 are superfluous..

tradition calls
for capitals
at beginning of lines ..
but again spoils
   the flow
as most will
unthinkingly
   hesitate
...thereat

so also ' lines'
as such
 are an irrelevance
in this open
context

.,without these things
 each person
brings a uniqueness
 to the poem..

much as
 we all do
when looking at
 a work art
 or
touching
 a tactile sculpture ..

a poem
 is
or should be
  similar

an adventure
     an exploration
                  erudition
                  in a turn of phrase
                     made accessible

thrown through space
     a form of perception
   with feelings speculations
       full of exhilaration

profundity
         in a new cry
          an expression of
                          personality
in a thesis of ideas

abstractions
in a life flow of motifs
    incarnate
      full of vitality

assertions of the soul
manifestations
                     of memory
activity
       embodied by imagination

Premium Member Persuasion Recited Prose-A Testimony

PERSUASION
By grace I was saved, through faith,
not of my self but by a precious gift.
This faith came from hearing,hearing
the word of God,Jesus,who manifested
Himself to me,through the work of
the Holy Spirit.I know whom I have
believed and am persuaded.When
He knocked at my door,I heard His
voice.I pushed open the door,He came in.
Evermore I remain in Christ,by grace,
through faith,a gift of God

Premium Member Now Must Art Recited Structured Prose

NOW MUST ART
A now moment,instantaneous,
parentage unknown,alive borne
of inspiration.Scattered here and there,
colours everywhere.The inner made
outer.Inherent originality conceived,
perceived,crystallised,the beneath
now in relief,of line,spot,point and
dab upon a canvas,to dry before the
eye.Succinct,complete of itself, never
to be reproduced it stays unique,of
me,for all to see.Of me,was once,this,
must art elsewhere,forever did depart.

I look upon it now,and wonder how!

Premium Member Enchained Unfree Recited Structured Prose

ENCHAINED UNFREE
Who has believed the reports,to
whom has the arm of the Lord been
revealed.Who has heard His voice,
who stands in the light. The sun
rises and shines,and shadows of
darkness occur.Who will understand
and respond.Who will stay in the
shadows,spiritually blind,who will see
who remains enslaved,enchained unfree

Premium Member An Eclectic Summers Day Recited Structured Prose

AN ECLECTIC SUMMER’S DAY
Nuts arrive on the tree
is summer really on the wane?
School holidays still to break
and buddleia not yet in flower
for goodness sake!Runner beans
still to bloom,two weeks ago
it was still June and Wimbledon
passed without a monsoon.
Clover now covers the lawn,
bird song still greets the dawn.
Cricket upon our screens and
Summer,middle-aged and in between.

Premium Member In Christ Alone Structured Prose Recited

IN CHRIST ALONE
Chosen in the beloved,to be alive
in God,baptised in Him to walk
according to the Spirit.Free from
the law of sin and death, sanctified
justified,faith avails,working through
love,blessed by every spiritual blessing.
Made righteous by His sacrifice,trusting
responding to the call,with the
promise of life, the love of God.in Jesus.
Saved to fulfil His purposes in
the richness of His grace.

Come,look,listen ..taste
and see.
Stop,pause awhile,
close your eyes. Wait!
Do you hear the silence,
it surrounds you,
it envelopes you.
Let your racing thoughts
be still.See they fall
like Autumn leaves.
Now,there is nothing
to distract.
Now God has your
attention.He will speak
to you.Pause awhile
to listen.

Premium Member What Is the Point Structured Prose Recited

WHAT IS THE POINT
What is the point?A comment so
often made,a question in some
bored moment.A reflection to pass
away some dull moments ‘til something
other provides a momentary distraction
to fill the mind with a temporal
train of thought.Soon the question
is then forgotten.Life is too short
is it not?Yes it is,pick up the ‘obits’
read the news,watch the straplines
on the twenty-four hour news.Yes
life is often very short for some!
The question then becomes so
acute and relevant.What is the
point?The point,dear friend is to
find the answer to living.What
is that you ask?To turn back to
your maker and live out His unique
design. He created you. That is the point!

Premium Member A Living Voice Recited

A LIVING VOICE
Symbols of structured prose,
an instant insight when read
aloud.The prose of poetry purposed,
to experience,once and forever
then filed in the mind’s eye&ear.
When triggered,to be recalled
and repeated over again& again.
A living voice intoned and inflected
echoing as an everlasting ripple
acroos momentary eternity,indelibly
sketched,a recorded act, of life.

Premium Member An Elegy For England Recited

AN ELEGY FOR ENGLAND
Posturing politicians pursuing their
pompous persona,oblivious of the
obvious,contemptuous of the common
man,and common sense that therein abides.
Such bella-donnas,a deadly night-shade
in their braying bubble poisoned our
enfranchisement,those hard won rights
we and our forefathers sweated blood,
tears & long years to achieve.
Without a glance or referendum obliterated
on the altar of ego, subsumed to the
domination of the bureaucratic oligarchy
of Brussels.
O England,that once fair land,alas
now forever laid bare.

The glass ceiling broken through,
pulled down.Secondary education
free for all.Liberty to learn,gratis

Premium Member Art Ekphrasis 1 Wols and Palmer -Recited

WOLS EKPHRASIS
Tachiste,blot and stain,spontaneous of
the moment ,like life itself can so often be.
Small scale in composition,compulsive
unrecognised at the time, yet literal and
long lasting, are the memories we see
Inspired by Wols ‘Composition’ c 1950
PALMER EKPHRASIS
In a Shoreham garden,scent
of blossom fills the air,a white
blaze of spring to make every
heart sing.Impressioniste before
its time.A profusion of clouds
or blobs,dabs &extravagences
per se.This stylised enigma
proliferacy in a pastoral wood
by a once-upon-a-time teen-age
prodigy..made good.
Inspired by Samuel Pamer’s in
 A Shoreham Garden 1827

Premium Member Art Ekphrasis 2 Suerat and Macke -Recited

SEURAT EKPHRASIS
Colour intermingled in the Spectator’s
eye.Divisions that juxtapose and
complement,I would suppose.
A static quality of light captured
one Sunday on the island,La Grande
Jatte. An ‘as is’ moment dot.. by dot..
this afternoon promenade of activity,
frozen forever as a ‘still-life’ shot.
Inspired by GeorgesSeurat’s Grand Jatte.
MACKE EKPHRASIS
So graceful,so elongated,anonymous,
faceless impressionist in form.A panorama
on first sight and yet..there but perhaps
not! A perpetual enigma from August leaves
our imagination to unfurl the knot.
Inspired by Macke’s ‘Lady in the Green Jacket’
