I have reluctantly come to a doctor’s office.
It is 11:00. I have been here for twenty minutes.
Have seen no one. Even the receptionist left.
Did they go to lunch and forget to tell us?
Maybe this is why no one is here.
Except Charlie and I.
I know his name because he avidly uses his cell phone.
He can only make an appointment on Wednesday or Friday.
He is reluctant to see a nurse practitioner.
He wants to see a real doctor.
He gives all of his ailments, and my skin crawls.
I paid a seventy dollar co-pay to listen to Charlie's phone calls?
I turn and point to the sign with a cell phone and an X through it.
Where is the receptionist?
She comes back and I point to him.
She says nothing.
Good thing they called me to a room before I strangled them both.

Our boss employed a receptionist
Whose beauty we could not compare
Double D cups woke up the knights
As pheromones surged through the air
Her chair is usually empty
Excepting this handwritten note:
"I have just stepped out for the male"
Exactly as written I quote

Lovely Receptionist Is Cute
We had told the whole truth to the tooth;
Then again told whole truth to the tooth;
Tooth to tooth danced,
And we had romanced;
We have tried to get to root of the truth.
For my famious dentist did start to root,
We understand at his talent he is astute;
Problem solved;
Cavity dissolved;
Also, his lovely receptionist is very cute.

The receptionist smiled and captivated the room.
Her beauty and curves made the men swoon.
She was all business when she talked,
But they forgot about business when she walked…

Behind painted desk,
Her smile welcomes everyone,
Counting the minutes.

The Receptionist
Of her eyes
and of her hair
I have been
aware one year
and I have said
no more than
I’ll be gone
all afternoon,
take all calls,
all messages.
