Quiet Clouds

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For 20 years, I lived outside El Paso, Texas, home of the Chihuahuan Desert and the Franklin Mountains. During my daily morning commute, I drove past the mountain range often thinking, ‘If the earth had a pulse it surely rose through the mountains, creating their bold silhouette.’ To my eye, their peaks were the green line of a doctor's graph. I saw those rocks at dawn, those slopes that gave home to so much life—a foundation for low-lying trees and shrubs and colorful cacti. The blue sky atop the mountains with their quiet clouds drifting by calmed me.
quiet clouds above calmly passing by a sea of blue and white that pleases the eye mountains in the distance sit still in yellow light the sun ahead constantly coloring every sight never again will I ever be here at this very moment let us not fear for this is where the mind is content this is where my soul leaves its print
