Mike and Dave Collide

I watched it all happen on aisle nine
as Mike rounded the soda stacks,
careening past the woman standing
there nursing her newborn.

Dave came from the other side,
long-legged stride tripping over
the man whose leg as sticking out
from his wheelchair.

As Mike and Dave came together their
arms and legs melded. Their heads
melded into one thought, one
destination, one string of cuss words.

Then, just as magically as they came
together, they separated at the hip and
gained four legs and two lips.

Mike jogged off to the deli, while Dave
marched off to the dairy section to pick
up a 300-pound man who had slipped
on melted ice cream.

In all the swirling chaos of the Winking
Galaxy, it's a wonder Mike and Dave
don't collide more often.
