The Blue Danube
The stage was lit like a purple sea.
And I, in a soft cloud of toule, so dazzling
white and bright.
Clutched the velvet curtain, my young
girl's heart pounding like a drum
Waiting for my soloist dance cue..
Breathing a sigh of relief when it did!
In purple satin toe shoes, I made my
my grand, yet terrified entrance.
And bowed in loving recognition of
my audience!
Large clusters of violets with velvet ribbons
cascading, had framed my face.
Then, I gracefully rose in youthful elegance.
With the sensation, I was almost flying.
Eighty years, those purple shoes do still
remain here.
Life's moments, magically reflected in
sentimental yet joyful, crystalline tears.
