Rock Chapel
Take the key
Loop it round your wrist
Stroll outside
Let hope persist
Up the hill
Where cattle graze
Electric fence
To manage strays
Follow grass
That bows and beckons
Squeaky gate
Rusty latch
Up the hillock
Breath to catch
Steep and winding
Knees that strain
Sensing stillness
Tensions drain
Atop the mound
A stoney chapel
With wooden door
And lock to grapple
But soon inside
The gorgeous light
Stained in colour
Mute, yet bright
A chair to sit
As eyes adjust..
A bible page
Wisdom to trust
The candle flickers
Waves you home
So many souls
Not so alone
You may recline..
Bathe your heart
Arrived have you
And yet to start
The inward trek
So sweet and long
The peaceful muse
Of angel song
