I woke up this morning, feeling great.
I thought to myself, I'll self-inflate,
and proceeded to exponentiate.
I sure was the man.
Just as I was hitting my rhythm,
in a gesture of antagonism,
sheriff John Brown took my logarithm.
I was back where I began.

Late one night, Batman said to Robin,
"To the Batpole, my head is throbbin'."
It was going on three,
Interrupted with tea,
All Alfred saw was Rob's head bobbin'.
Then Batman told Batgirl, "Drop on by."
Eager to please, didn't bat an eye.
And just like the Joker,
Proceeded to poker,
Leaving poor Robin to choke and DIE!
The Penguin, Catwoman, and Riddler,
Now accompanied by a fiddler.
The Commissioner read,
"Our poor Robin is dead,"
But Batman continued to diddler.
Robin's kin wired Ennard McFlivey,
His firm was hired for Leonard Spivey.
Justice now would prevail,
Batman, now out on bail,
Caught a bad case of Poison Ivy.

There are those who think the masses
are like a legion of lemmings
doing a death march into the sea
(actually a river)
but suicidal lemmings are a myth
created by none other than Walt Disney
in Alberta, Canada where
(no lemmings live)
the 1958 film 'White Wilderness' was made
and the sordid scandalous scene
by the filmmakers was staged
spinning turntables were constructed
all covered in snow
to jostle and send them tumbling
then off a cliff the poor lemmings
the crew proceeded to throw

Smoking toking you must be joking
it's a bust I just don't need an altered sense
of time and space or on choking
a mind-numbing feeling of euphoria
as I am happy as a clam
(thank you ma'am)
for as you two while under the influence
of lethargy-inducing external stimuli
proceeded in search of smokeable weed
a.k.a., a whole lot of pot
a joint venture indeed
the words I heard by you bemoaned
when about to go driving were
'No left turn unstoned!'

as the journey became her labour of love

polychromatic and full of compassion and trust

The scarecrow could hardly wait until the sun went down
He would climb off his post and twirl around and around
The corn stalks loved watching the pumpkin-head dance
He trotted and marched, and then did kind of a prance
But before The Browns, his farmers, woke up for the day
He climbed back on the post and proceeded to stay
He figured they might have heart attacks if they were to see
The dancing diva scarecrow swirling wild and free

Mommy, can we have a puppy?
We can name her Haley...
No! I hate the way they smell...
But Mommy, we can wash him daily.
I also hate it when they yell.
But Mommy, we can play with her,
and show her exciting tricks.
No! What about when she gets sick?
We'll take her to the vet,
and we'll sit with her all night.
Don't be silly, my children...
No puppy dogs, alright?
But Mommy, we want a puppy.
They're cute and loyal and small.
Please, Mommy, can we have one?
No! No! Not at all.
The children began to tear up,
and proceeded to walk away.
When all of a sudden,
with a soft voice, their mother said
Okay, okay, okay.
I'll get you two a puppy,
and you can name her Haley.
But you two MUST take care of her...
you must tend to her daily.
The kids jumped for joy,
When they got home from school,
Mother had a little puppy...
and they promised to follow each rule.

Fiddle sticks
Yes, I missed
In all the fumbling madness
I tripped
I rose to my feet
Proceeded with belief
To find
A determinating measure
With all the facts recieved
Gathering that of need
Grazing , I began to feed
On all the tasty morsels
Left behind
From seed to dynasty
A branch a leaf a tree
Climbing upward
A spectacular view
Atlast received

Like humans do, it packed its bags and opened the door.
I was speechless, and my heart was broken at the core.
It walked across the lawn and opened the gate.
There was nothing further to discuss or debate.
It was real, and about that, there was no doubt.
But my heart uttered one of the deepest pouts.
From a second-floor window, I had nothing to say.
I stood there and sadly watched it slowly walk away.
Like mortal do, it boarded the car and headed west.
I understood and proceeded to handle my stress.
Every cloud in my brown eyes had quickly turned grey.
I wish at least that I had said something more that day.
54 years have passed, and fortunately, I got over it.
Navigating life always takes courage and lots of grit.

On Saturday night,
I was watching a movie
Till I fell asleep.
All of a sudden,
At around twelve forty-five,
I heard a loud thump.
"Who is that?" I asked.
I waited for a response,
But there was nothing.
So I asked again,
"Who's there? Quit fooling around
And show yourself now!"
There's still no answer.
"This is SO not happening,"
I said to myself.
I grabbed my flashlight
And my lucky baseball bat
To investigate.
The entire house
Was checked from top to bottom:
I even went outside.
Then I said, "Hello?
Is anybody out here?
Anyone at all?"
But again, nothing.
It's only a distraction
To keep me awake.
I went back inside,
Washed my hands, and proceeded
Back to my bedroom.
When I locked my door--
"BOO!" My girlfriend just scared me!
It's Spooky Season.

Having recently moved to a new state,
We were headed to obtain a new driver's license.
We did not realize that there were separate offices
of the DMV for driver's license and auto registration.
A bit lost and a little confused, I requested assistance
from a local resident sitting in his vehicle. At first,
He proceeded to give me directions but quickly switched
to a different mode. In essence, he was saying, don't
Just trust my directions, but trust my lead and follow me.
Without hesitation, he graciously said, "Follow me". The
distance was more than a few blocks, and I was rather moved
by the kind gesture. Without question, I relearned 'Hospitality 101'.

Elizabeth Barrett Browning wrote, and I quote:
"How do I love thee? Let me count the ways."
And then she proceeded to list as many as she could in fourteen lines,
Telling her husband, Robert, and us, in the process,
Just how deeply and fervently she loved him.
But I would pose this query to Mrs. B., "Liz, dearie,
Does being able to list all the reasons you love a person
Enable you to love that person more, or better, or differently?"
In my view, I see no need for yard-long lists of words
Declaring love steadfast and true.
No need for lists, or sonnets, even,
When just three simple words will do.

I was out riding the fences one day
and spied these here suits and their fancy car
They said they was from some oil company
and started cutting their way through the wire
Well I says whoa down a bit young fellas
I proceeded with my best daunting stare
There's a reason that no trespassing sign
has been hung up on that post over there
This suit says "Well old timer I don't care"
cause a blind man should be able to see
That all of them no trespassing signs there
just do not apply to my friends and me
Besides, how you think you're gonna stop us
that sign sure won't keep me from coming in
I told him the odds was in my favor
cause was the four of us against just them
Well that dude puffed out and chuckled a bit
looks more like there's one old man agin three
I said you want to take another look
there's Smith and Wesson, Remington and me
Well I put a friendly shot in the air
and them boys jumped into their car and fled
I’m sure their ride home didn’t smell too good
after I shot once more over their head

There once was a fish kept in a bowl.
In his little sphere he had control.
But then that damn cat
Knocked it over—splat!
And proceeded to gobble him whole.
