Can We Have a Puppy
Mommy, can we have a puppy?
We can name her Haley...
No! I hate the way they smell...
But Mommy, we can wash him daily.
I also hate it when they yell.
But Mommy, we can play with her,
and show her exciting tricks.
No! What about when she gets sick?
We'll take her to the vet,
and we'll sit with her all night.
Don't be silly, my children...
No puppy dogs, alright?
But Mommy, we want a puppy.
They're cute and loyal and small.
Please, Mommy, can we have one?
No! No! Not at all.
The children began to tear up,
and proceeded to walk away.
When all of a sudden,
with a soft voice, their mother said
Okay, okay, okay.
I'll get you two a puppy,
and you can name her Haley.
But you two MUST take care of her...
you must tend to her daily.
The kids jumped for joy,
When they got home from school,
Mother had a little puppy...
and they promised to follow each rule.
