I remember holding you,
ever so closely.
I remember loving you
ever so slowly.
I seem to have savored
the taste.
In my mind I often
retrace.
I can think of nothing but
that day.
You left me in a state
of disarray.
It seemed so damn easy
for you.
You went away
and withdrew.
My family up and
vanished.
In Your world I was
banished.
I was nothing more than
A pitstop.
You held my heart,
you let It drop.
I still deal with all
the damage.
You see I was left with
A disadvantage.
Three years later the smoke,
It is still thick.
That was a foul calculated
mean Trick.
I still feel it in every cell
of my body.
In my world, it's ice-cold
and foggy.
I now see that you
Never Loved me.
To your lock, I was
A temporary key.

The darkness shrouds me
It's loving embrace
Holds me in place
Here, I feel free
It comes to surround me
An emotionless state
Here, I create
Balance eternity
Darkness brings liberty
Dries tears from face
A pitstop in the race
Displaces or maintains sanity
Dispose of tragedy
To quickly replace
Clean slate, erased
Darkness sets me free

Love warm evening summer strolls
Kids rock everywhere we roll
Upon bank of creek bed cast out ultra light fishing pole
Serenity of nature speaks to the core of my soul
Moving towards the sun as it descends slowly behind a hill
Mesmerized by glorious color display for a brief moment time stands still
Stop every couple feet for flowers kids plucked, their baskets they fill
Break out sweaters and blankets for kids, night air may bring light chill
Some priceless funfilled laughter, quick pitstop at a park
Detour along a beach, kids swear they saw a shark
Venture to Lakenenland, junk's sculpted into historical art where Tom Lakenen continues to leave his mark
Along bog walk may need a flashlight as moon and stars may not be enough to light our path in the dark
Pups also enjoy tagging along
Being in the great outdoors you can never go wrong
Lullabies of God's creatures are most beautiful of songs
Fresh air and sweet natural aromas kids will be dreaming soon, won't be long

Anxiety and depression have spiraled out of control
Life's punches have certainly taken their toll
Another bump in the road seems more like a knoll
Defeated you feel like digging yourself a giant sized hole
Scattered like confetti are thoughts stuck within your fish bowl
You feel charred like gray black charcoal
Vicious mudslide cycling on a downhill roll
Weary have grown your heart mind and soul
Lost in a whirlwind life's purpose seems out of reach high on a pole
One lemon after the next you fear you'll never reach your goal
Don't wallow and hang your head in despair
Despite how you feel you're not broken beyond repair
Life can often be overwhelming and too much to bare
You're not alone we've all made a pitstop there
Love and support don't cost a thing when you fall short I've got plenty on reserve to spare
Life can most certainly be furthest from fair
We all occasionally get snagged up in a snare
We all carry deep-seeded scars with more than our flesh that did tear
Remember you're a priceless treasure that gives life meaning, there's always someone who cares
We'll blend your issues with mine squashing life's bitter lemons into sweet lemonade to share

SHE LOVES NASCAR
She loves NASCAR.
I prefer Gaugin or Renoir
but she loves NASCAR.
It's a southern fascination
as Dixie as Faulkner
or sweet potato pie.
I love NASCAR,
She squeals like tires burning,
out of breath.
The only thing that moves
like lightening in the south,
NASCAR.
Guys driving fast
making left hand turns.
I prefer the curves
in a Rodin,
the speed of a swallow’s flight.
She loves NASCAR.
Her eyes smoke
smiling like a checkered flag,
with spark plug laughter.
When the twisted wrecks
have been cleared.
the vroom of the engines still.
In bed,
In my arms she idles.
Her hair smelling of excitement
and exhaust.
I love NASCAR
Her engine revs
I whisper, we have
nothing in common.
Don't be silly
we both love Nascar.
She reaches for me
under the sheets.
GENTLEMEN START YOUR ENGINES!
She draws me inside,
A pitstop. I'm her one man pit crew
We both love NASCAR she sputters.
Yes but, not
for the same reason.
My key in her ignition.
My pistons pounding.
My gears shifting
My heart racing .
Yes, oh yes I love Nascar.
