Her pinup, hung high on the wall,
caught many a lad in its thrall.
As he reached for that Fawcett,
hit the soap, slid across it.
Thank goodness the sink broke his fall!

On the parlor wall, a canvas frame
Adorned with whispers of a fascist game
A warped impression, born of decadence and sleep
The perfect lie, where dreams and nightmares creep
A stenciled girl with eyes of distant gray
A masquerade of innocence, in every way
Her beauty is a snare, a trap to ensnare
The unsuspecting heart, with promise and with care
But I see through the veneer, the artful disguise And in the darkness, I find my compromise
On the parlor wall, a perfect crime
A '68 FBI wanted poster, faded design
A lazy Vargas pinup spread her thighs
But I see only the thrill of pale, painted lies
The Mona Lisa's smile, a ruse and a birth
A masquerade of irony, dancing on moth- eaten earth She hides her truth, a promise kept from sight As I piss on the pyre, the charade takes flight

over occupied world
bewildering hodge-podge of people
pushing stress where it ought not to be
in the slim rays of late day
in the splattered mess of guttered streets
a homeless man asks for a light
for a half burnt cigarette
then money for food
nerve knotted living squeezed between soiled fingers
his fingers
most shove by him like gnats late for breeding
people in pinup poses
keep silent midst foul displacement
shun soiled annoyance like shoddy prospects
does a story untold, matter?
does all humanity deserve recognition?
maybe things just fall apart all on their own
maybe once there was a time when lushness oozed like honey
from a jar
homeless man seeks a light
unflagging energy to be seen
girdled by grit
a real mission
not to wipe away self like crumbs from a plate
sometimes we move in gray clouds
a pretense, unseeing squalor
as vagabond pleas jar at comfort
our aligned security by uttering "No"
such feel good factors
defending synthetic spheres
that peer at screens
as light loses traction

Why did Archie keep running after Veronica?
Betty was the nice one.
And she was blonde.
Why was Reggie’s mouth always drawn into a sneer?
Did they want him to look cruel?
Why did they want Jughead to appear stupid?
Oddly enough, I never questioned why
Betty and Veronica were both drawn like Vargus pinup girls.
Maybe because I was used to Barbie dolls in 1959.

DOLL SUPPORT
Barbie doll hands plump
the fruitful flare of her sateen dress ~
mint green flows out from her cocoa skin.
not a pinup for boys, but girls adore
her needle-thin arms and legs,
her neck underscores her perfect oval head,
lush lashes, pretty pinup hair.
her face with nothing out of place
can handle any style, any makeup piece.
her weakness ~ not able to stand on her own,
even Ken cannot support such a doll.

THE BALLAD OF MA POSSUM
Roofing like a penthouse floor,
Tis not a haunt but Ma's snore.
A wombatic possum in appearance,
Being nature's pinup is her arrogance.
Her distintictive, brush, bob tail, loss,
reputedly, respected as the boss poss.
Hearing her grunt and fight,
echoing a freaky still night fright.
Oh!, nightlife beware,
if Ma is anywhere.
trees n eyes in the wood
is part of Ma's family hood.
Scratchings at the door,
signals to eat, until no more,
Possum busters have done their best,
But Ma thinks, tis a game and quest.
With her teeth and claws,
makes furnishings with any trapddors.
Characterise, personalise or humanise,
big booted, smudged lipstick and pearl,
smokin cigars, no sweet little girl,
tough and ready to roll,
she aint no possum doll.
A pet possum sage,
outliving the legends of her long age.

she glowed
with joy
she was in love
and couldn’t hide it
light and bubbly
effervescent
a radiating smile
happier
prettier
than any pinup girl

Some of the sexiest women are Vargas’s 1940 pinup girls,
They are drawn with long hair, sensuous legs, and the right kind of curls.
Enhanced in all the right places, there is nothing that exudes sex faster
Graphic drawings of cattish women are not the kind you put out to pasture.
Do you remember Cat-Woman drawn fearlessly by our old friend Stan Lee?
Hallee Berry brought her to life, but the one who graphically created her was he.
Betty Boop, a cartoon femme fatale’ had style, and sex that could make a sailor blush,
Disney’s artists’ did not draw a Tinker Bell without perky boobs and a little tush.
I believe graphic novels and cartoon classics are here today to stay,
Because the sexy superheroes – both men and women make the reader’s day.
Captain America and Batman have those enormous abs, and a teeny waist.
Jessica Rabbit’s ‘I’m not bad, I’m just drawn that way,” was not penned with any haste.

In the 1950’s we thought we were so modern, so sophisticated, so posh.
When Barbie came out, she was the rage, and we little girls thought we were ready by gosh.
Goodbye Vargas pinup girls, good bye hoop skirts, and Betty Boop. Some of us would confer.
A 1950’s art peek might amaze you as to how into space travel we were.
The ones who were in style so to speak, we decorated with abstracts, big and bold.
Moms carefully steered clear of the nature colors of our grandmothers, they seemed way too old.
These colors came back into style about twenty years ago, full force and all.
To jog your memory bank, look at the ads of your childhood. They are a wake up call.

Oh, look at you
Strutting your stuff peacock pretty
Glamor suits you
Let the vapor voices all catch fiddy
Round-the-way girl of every guy pinup dreams,
cyber beauty queen
gone viral
Enter the Soul Train celebrity scene
kicking sultry stream
Stepping red carpet to the stars
Oh, look at you
Looking even better than the girl
I fell in love with
an elementary school lifetime ago
Being the center of attention
became a very comfortable place for you
My shyness was the thing you said
most thrilled you when we first meet
It was the seed that made your no-confidence grow,
my tender timid affection
made you want to reach over the glittering rainbow
It brought you out of your shell,
made you begin to excel
It made your beautiful dove wings
lift you above the crowd
When you went fab cosmopolitan,
it made me feel so proud
You remembered how I said to you,
you were gonna be a star one day
long ago
Oh, look at you ...
my famous beautiful
From afar,
I’m still in love with you
But, this you already know

'Pinup Girls'
A pinup girl is a kind of cartoon character
With a disproportionate mind and figure.
She has this facial expression, the same one constantly,
As if to say wow, a birthday cake, just for me?
She lives in a fantasy world
In which everyone's soul has been sold
Living lives of raucous absurdity
Macho men ogle at the pinup girls in the city.
A pinup girl, upon noticing she's being noticed,
Will keep on walking but will look back with mock embarrassment.
If she carries one, she'll twirl her umbrella
Blinking long black lashes till someone shouts hey, ragazza bella!
Her walk is a sight to behold, a sight quite comic at least,
Waddling, high heeled, well tapered legs clumsily a-jut from a wasp thin waist.
A streetwalker, but not a whore, as innocent as a virgin but not an angel,
She's a pinup girl.

Imagine your name on a Hollywood Boulevard star.
As a glamorous doll in the movies, you could go far.
Does nature permit women to look as good as you?
I can just see you up on the screen in plain view.
Your sweet image will be everywhere as a pinup honey.
Studio executives will be counting their future money.
You can be a marquee name everybody will know.
So come on, sweetheart. Why don’t you give it a go?
