"Lingering leaves of gold
frolic in the autumn wind,"
Swept up by bygone breezes,
already collapsing
before they begin,
As disillusionment clouds an overtired soul—

Misplaced and irretrievable
To a society that ravenously
disembowels empathy,
Twists and mangles trust
until it becomes unrecognizably disfigured,
Leaving the carcass to be plucked by bone-thin vultures,

Fed by culture’s apathetic, parasitic narcissism,
Under the boiling, pre-winter sun.

Cieste La Vie

WHAT IS LIFE BUT THE BLINK OF AN EYE
WE SET OUR GOALS AND CAN BUT TRY
TO MAKE IT A BETTER WORLD FOR THE ONES WE LOVE
BUT SOMETIMES WE ALL NEED A LITTLE SHOVE
AS WE STRIVE AND TOIL TO MAKE ENDS MEET
WE BEAR THE BURDERSOME WEIGHT ON OVERTIRED FEET
BRINGING UP OUR CHILDREN AS BEST WE CAN
ARE THEY GRATEFULL AS YOUR LIFE GOES DOWN THE PAN
FEED THEM EDUCATE THEM AND CLOTHE THEM AS WELL
ARE THEY HAPPY BUNNIES YOU NEVER CAN TELL
THEY FLY THE NEST AT 21 TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE
AND SOON THEY WAKE UP WITH EGG ON THEIR FACE
THEY REALISE WHAT A TREADMILL THEY ARE ON
THEIR YOUTH AND FREEDOM ARE ALL BUT GONE
CHILDREN OFF THEIR OWN AND NO MONEY TO SPEND
THEY GET ON WITH THEIR LIVES AND KEEP UP THE TREND

Roses and a Ticket

Hunger and roses

I have not spoken of Brexit find it trivial
False pride and old people thinking of was time
When they said, saved the world single handily
The arrogance of superiority is unavoidable.

The pampa is full of horses on yellow/green grass
If I were a horse, I would miss the forest.

Rowes of people wait outside a foodbank often
Overtired nurses who can’t feed their families
Skeleton looking pensioners hope for corn flakes
The experimental economy benefits the rich.

Sleep Insomnia

Sleep insomnia keeps you up each night
Seems the Sandman ignores your existence upon his flight
No fun to be had as your energy is depleted each day
Lifeless, still mundane tedious tasks and responsibilities must go under way
Sneezing wondering if you're allergic at first glance of the sun
Wearing dark shades you don't care for the brightness of the sunshine none
For what you really crave is sleep
Crazy tiresome odd hours awake you do keep
Moods are up and down without stability
Creates frustrating irritability
Overtired because you can't take a nap
From small children you wish a small amount of their energy you could zap
Coffee doesn't help do the trick no matter how strong
Oh sweet sleep where have you been?it's been far too long
A vampire is a questionable possibility maybe
In time it catches up and you crash harder than a baby
Melancholy feeling of defeat
Exhausting cycle continues to repeat

A Life of Dreams

This life of Dreams

I have been in bed today, yesterday after taking up waking
I was so enthusiastic that I overdid it took pictures planned
The fell I was going to walk tomorrow had heard I could see
Wild boars there. I got overtired and sat on a stone under
A tree since it began raining. I looked like a scarecrow
A farmer picked me up and planted me in his field, and I hung
There to someone heard my cry for help.

The farmer apologised the Portuguese are polite people
When not driving cars on narrow road then they become
Murderous bullies and shout expletives at people who try
To cross the road with the slowness of an aged person, and
To think the Portuguese young care about their old parents.

Untitled 4

Overtired,
Tears streaming down my face,
Gentle snoring,
Thinking and hoping about the next day,
Wondering and wishing about the future,
Trying to discover myself,
Unraveling my emotions,
Overtired,
Tears streaming,
Gentle snoring,
Thinking of life.

Untitled 3

Overtired,
Tears streaming down my face,
I sing to her,
I tell her how much I love her,
I remind her that her family loves her,
Overtired,
Sick,
Tears streaming,
Trying to comfort both of us.

Pinochle In the Rain

I love the rain,
On some deep unconscious plain.
It seems to seep in and soothe
The pain of an overtired brain.
That never rests,
Because of the stress,
Brought about by bad choices.
And sometimes the voices
That never seem to leave me alone,
Behind the eyes they plot
And manage to accomplish
What they desire to dethrone.
The King of Hearts is now a Jack,
Using Diamonds to fill the void left by his Queen.
Using a Spade shovel, she buries their past,
And some of her skeletons too.
I mean, she wants to start fresh, and squeaky clean.
I love the rain. It brings forth new life,
An attitude changed; serenity, acceptance, courage to maintain.
To learn, to grow, to believe.
The hope of a new relationship,
And a budding love with my seed.
I need him, he needs me and we need him on high.
I must not waste anymore, the time's getting slim.
I love the rain.
Because it opens my mind,
My thoughts are simple, and the truth I seek, I find.
When there's a storm,
There's calm before and after,
But the journey through
I s, to me, what really matters.
I love the rain.
