If Only I Could Be Meg Olsen

If only I could be Meg Olsen,
With the courage to take on the world,
I'd break free from this timid shell,
And let my wings unfurl.

If only I could be Meg Olsen,
With a heart that's fierce and strong,
I'd chase after my dreams relentlessly,
And prove all the doubters wrong.

If only I could be Meg Olsen,
With a mind that's sharp and bright,
I'd speak up and share my thoughts,
And never let anyone dim my light.

But alas, I am just myself,
With my own set of strengths and flaws,
Yet I'll keep striving to be my best,
And break down the barriers and walls.

For though I may not be Meg Olsen,
Or any of the others on the list,
I know that being myself is enough,
And that's something I shouldn't miss.

So here's to embracing who we are,
And not longing to be someone else,
For each of us has a unique gift,
That can't be replicated or shelved.

Premium MemberMerry Christmas To All Beggars

A beggar sits, hugs the shadows, barely sees
Crowded downtown, busy shoppers stream by
Ill-clothed, nearly deaf, double amputee
He's just hoping you'll be friendly, say 'Hi'

In his can, a couple coins, not enough to feed him
You think of adding a dollar or two
Better not, times are tough, pickings slim
Who knows? You boss may just terminate you

So you pass him, but he greets you and your heart stops
Says, "Why, Johnny Olsen, how do you do?"
You move faster, far away now, by a sweet-shop
Your breathing's uneven, you feel quite blue

You buy him coffee and a sweet roll and a cupcake
He remembered you, and it makes your heart ache
When you bring him the treats and the coffee
You say, "Michael Davies, thanks for noticing me..."

Merry Christmas to all beggars and their patrons
May they revel in each other's company
May the blessing of their friendship be Heaven-run
May they reap ample bounty for all Eternity

Premium MemberDear Dan

Dear Dan, I sit here every day in class
behind you at this desk, but barely can
I concentrate on what the teacher says,
for you are such a wonderful young man.

Since Junior high, I’ve liked you very much.
I felt entranced the first time that I saw
your sweet cute face and hair blonde like the sun.
But there’s a deeper reason I’m in awe.

It’s obvious your mind is very sharp.
I think you see I am studious too.
I bet we have a lot of things in common.
I want to know so much more about you.

And so I’m asking you out on a date.
I think you like to roller skate like me.
Can we meet at the rink on Saturday?
Your answer I’m awaiting eagerly.

*Dedicated to one of my several school crushes, Dan Olsen.
He never did talk to me and I was a bit too shy in those days
to initiate a conversation with him.

Olsen's America

Olsen’s America
If a Danish sea captain by the name of Egil Olsen
had discovered America, would it be called
Olsen’s land, and if so would it have become a more
friendly land without ambition to become
a superpower? I would not let the Name Egil come
into it, people would soon change it to eagle and
as we know that is more aggressive.
And since no one had heard of Canada – not many has-
it would have been Olsen all the way to Behring Strait.
He would have to deal with red Indians though, let them
dress the way they wanted and wear fur which,
as we know, is frown upon in Europe; but most of all he
must have kept the with missionaries out.... more
banned them outright.... Funny thing names, America
is like uniforms, fit all sizes, But an Egil Olson would
have had a grey beard and be fond of beer.

Flying On Feathered Wings...

I'm flying on a Big Powerful bird
 with Huge strong colored wings,
I'm flying Over the Rainbows,
Back down the glittered streams,
Up again, above Mountain peeks,
I'm flying to the Silver Waterfall,
I bathe with Swans ,in naked dreams.
I drink Raindrops, from cups made of leaves,
I fly to an Orchestra Of Dancing Fountains,
whilst the Sun reflects Warm beams.
I fly , On Wings of freedom,
Feeling the Wind On my skin,
Feeling the touch of the Breeze,
Feeling the Freshness within.
I Fly Up High, Free as can be,
Give me your Hand,Come fly with me.
Lets fly from Sunrise into the Night,
Luminious Fireflies,Our lanterne's light.
