I heard the squelch of death again
Snatching away my gentlest serenity
Honing knives to slash chunks of pain
Shooting spasms of sorrow felt so especially
When the darkness reminds me just why
I’ve taken up residence amid the tears
Failing to confide in another, I continue to cry
Learning once more that today is more than fears
I must let go of the very one whom I so adored
Fill up my heart with comforting thoughts
Despite the fact that my love won’t be restored
It feels as if my stomach is tied up in knots.
Yes, things will go on as they must do
But I know that life will never be the same
Without you

I'm nursing a headache the size of Corfu
my stomach is tied up in knots,
it's the seventeenth time that I've been to the loo
feeling sick with a dose of the trots.
My memory's blank as to how I behaved
but from texts on my phone I can see
that Doreen who I met said 'yes' when I proposed
(she's retired now, and seventy three).
I lie on the bed still in suit and loud tie
no effort to climb in the bedding,
my backache tells me as the evening went by
I danced like Grandads at a wedding.
A bad move to mix all those drinks, that's for sure,
I think I may have crossed the line,
there's a photocopy on the floor by the door
and I'd swear that those buttocks are mine.
Father, it’s me again,
Coming to plead for your mercy,
So much going on,
So much clouding my mind.
I need your help!
My stomach is tied up in knots,
My chest aches with panic
And my head is unable to think.
I worry and I am scared.
What will happen Lord?
What am I to do?
Hear my cry,
And please stand by my side.
I wish to hear good things,
I wish for joy for my family.
Comfort them Father,
Ease their suffering
And give them hope.
We need you Father!
I need you for I am in a panic.
Please Father!
