Having entered the ‘Age of AI’
our spines to mush have turned
Bridges to common sense burned
our Luddite instincts we’ve let fly
Fear, the dominant emotion
folks ready to drown in the ocean…
The motorcar was to lead to debauchery
a dramatic increase in teenage pregnancy
The computer would replace human beings
life would lose all meaning
The motorcar and the computer we’ve somehow survived
Last I checked, more and more people alive
Perhaps we’ll manage to survive AI too
Come Halloween, don’t forget to say ‘Boo!’
Your ear has to be
tuned to hear
the City's rhythms
buried below the noise
and be able to discern
a melody woven through
the dissonant chatter
as in the rumble and splash
of motorcar tyres moving
along streets slicked
with watery reflections
and in the jarring grind
of tram wheels,
screeching brakes
and warning bells
and in the cadence
of human voices
as heard in quiet
conversations and loud
yells - to feel
a sense of elation when
all the scattered notes
of a City come together
and you hear
its surprising song.
pitter patter drips drops and plops
blathers blatters splatters sploshes and drips
bitter twitter twatters and twaddles, flips and flops
chitter chatter babbles claptrap baas and blahs
slithering sliding slues, slips and skips
blotches mottles splotches and spots scars and mars
splutter flutter splatter clatters, a kick-started motorcar
crunched cracked munched and punched the whacked gears strips
hipping and hopping, skipping and bop bop bopping, we're not going far
Looking back over my teenage years
socially not together as others are
feeling alone keeping my self to self
being extrovert was a step too far
My main source of enjoyment each week
was soccer at my local team being a fan
meet up with a few guys there in support
shouting on Killie hoping to be no also ran
Going to the cinema quite a bit
on my own enjoy the big screen
sometimes straight from work I'd go
got fish supper before home like a teen
Never really had any friends
didn't go holidays in these days
then learnt to drive a motorcar
gave me more freedom ever always
Looking back now they were difficult times
felt real isolated think in this world alone
God's hand was upon me though was unseen
His purpose to find me my true cornerstone
God was in no hurry to draw me
He knew all the future all planned out
using my experience in teenage years
in later years would be my blessed fount
(This is written about my memories of my teenage years, My local soccer team Killie was its nickname as its proper name was Kilmarnock. )
TAKE THE GLOVES OFF
Supplied with boxing gloves,
the size of eyes, nose, mouth, teeth
man, woman, child
like stampeding steeds
with steam of a motorcar
the spring released
what the blank happened —
blackout of the human race
~
Supplied with hands that love,
a daisy chain with fresh Spring
newborn race twists smiles
and kindness into serenity beads
hugs handed out like delicious treats
harmony dancing in the streets
ice packs and dentists no longer needed
hate and violence no longer seeded

BROTHER YOU LIED TO US…
When we listened to your campaign speech…
We knew we had our own gotten
When we lined up to vote for you
We knew we had ours voted…
When you promised us representation
We our craving whetted
But alas brother you lied to us!!
When you walked on foot on your campaign trail
We knew we had our own found
But when the motorcar allowance was given
You purchased a posh one
Our concerns forgotten…
We hear you attend parliament no more
You speak only to determine your allowance
That now you spot a pot belly
That you hung out at the Serena
Oh brother you lied to us
Yet we knew we had ours voted
Next you come for our votes to solicit
Knock not at my door
For you lied to us.
Fatal By Design
Humans are as fatal as a motorcar,
Born only to die in a head on collision with death.
It’s just waiting to happen; there is no escape.
Your future’s bleak; revel in it.
Fatal by design, born only to die.
Fatal by design, born only to die.
