Mothermothers Day Poems | Examples

Mother's Poetry

A mother's love is more than one dad can cherish,
So he gives it to their kids so they won't perish.
Don't take this Mother's Day and give it away,
but take it and cherish it, and you will find happiness.

THE BLESSING OF HAVING A MOTHER

We've all been blessed to have a mother
Though she may be living or gone
But the impact she had on our lives
Will still go on and on

It was through her gentle teaching
That we learned right from wrong
Her wisdom was so far reaching
Her knowledge true and strong

Her efforts to correct us
Whenever we'd rebel
Was often done with scripture
Which mother knew so well

Her correction was usually tender
Most often with a smile
Sometimes done with humor
But loving all the while

Seldom done with anger
Unless we went too far
Which brought a trip to the woodshed
Or out behind the barn

The pots and pans she rattled
Yielded our favorite food
And just like the guy on TV
It was always “Ooo, so good!”

Needle and thread were always close
To mend my pants for me
She dried my tears and wiped my nose
When I would skin my knee

So as you recall your mother's love
On this, her special day
Whether she's here, or heaven above
You can be proud she showed you the way

For My Mother

My dear sweet mother Kay,
Is so very special in every way
Her heart is really big and pure,
And never needs any cure
No matter what the time may be,
She has always been there for me
I was shown by her how to bake,
All the Christmas cookies that I make
She's also been a second mother,
To Kristen, my own daughter
Hardly ever selfish is she,
For the good things she likes to see
I'm so very blessed to have her here,
Because she really is such a dear

Written and dedicated for my mother Kay, on Mother's Day 2009.

My Mommer

She always cared so much for me
even when I was bad
she protected me from the worst
even some stupid fad.

Mommer was the name we created
especially for her
something no other mom was called
short for "Mom the Wonder."

Mommer would send me dollar bills
each week in college
just a little something extra
to increase my knowledge.

We write and call regularly still
I think we always will
it's so good to hear her voice
never can get my fill.

Mommer is 86 years old now
doing the best she can
getting around isn't easy
but she's always got a plan.

I love my Mommer dearly
I often tell her so
Happy Mother's Day Mommer!
You're always in the know.

LOVE,

Sheila

Mother's Day Tribute

The joy of Motherhood cannot be measured
Raising a child as a mom is treasured
The skinned knees, the sunburns, the social issues
The runny nose, mom just happens to have a tissue
The mother part comes first, then comes being a wife
Spouses can come and go, but you are still a mom for life
Kids discuss things with their mothers, only a mom can understand
Giving birth is a special, not understood or felt by a man
A mother's hug makes the worst things not to seem that bad
She is a listener and sometimes the best friend a child could have
So I say this to all the mothers and mothers to be
Everyone should say thank you mom for having me
And as Mother's day comes and goes
It is this tribute I wish to bestow
Enjoy this day for you have earned it
It is because of Moms like you, we all exist
