Mortifies Poems

The Mirth of Monsters

A picture appeared on my phone today,
on the proverbial page I perused.

A view of an evil most vile,
villainy veiled behind verve and vim.

Sadists from Auschwitz,
smiling in a storm.
Shoulders shrugging,
to shield from the sky.

No hint of the horrors,
the Holocaust they heralded.
Not haunted like the humans they harrow,
but hyenas, howling, in high humor after the hunt.

Their consciences clear, their cruelty concealed,
their cheer chills me to the core.
They caused such wicked calvary,
a calamity that echoes into the current century.

Yet they dare to delight,
while they deal in death and dread.
Their depravity so deep that they grin,
as they decry virtue and destroy millions.

But what mortifies me more is,
how mundane their mien.

Will we fear the next fiends fittingly,
or in time... if their faces feel like friends'?

Why you wash my summer gone
Weather wicked warlock spins
Reap the whirlwind Master Nothing
Summer cancelled fall begins

Mother’s needs not your concern
Only selfish motive flies
Freezing while another burns
Endless damage mortifies

Play with toys no man should own
Manna tropospheric poison
Seeding her destruction sown
Manipulator of my season

Premium MemberUnder the Radar

Beneath the dark blue veil
Of a moonless midnight
Under the radar
Without a bleep
A camouflaged whisper
Mystifies and mortifies
In a most roundabout
Conniving way
A shiver shudders
A murderous mystery
Not leaving a hint or clue

Premium MemberMoves To Shock

There are two ways this could go
when the measure has been resolved
of whether nature moves to shock
or boredom is the end result

shame is assumed without proof
humiliation only found
with a result that mortifies
death by variety that fills a life

while reality says otherwise
tedium becomes the norm
apathy fills the void
when existence is switched about

the latter is the sad result
embarrassment put aside
in diversity the truth is known
comparisons become too trite.

Bereavement

Bestowed bereavement, this condolence graft
the memorabilia sequence, mine not draft,
like some ongoing virtue, depth not classed
forever ~ love relinquished at the pass!

The merriment not, but laughing, seal to last
a joy eternal, hope prithee to cast ~
my soul, now rent with sorrow, seams relapse
is broken down to virtue's homeless past ~

and mortifies with perish ~ where once basted!
