Death twisted history,
guilts conferee
the liar unmasked
revenge by decree
His legions unfurling,
their flag through the smoke
the volunteers hailing,
preserving all hope
With dark days upon them,
no fear to be found
the women, the children,
in place underground
Around every corner,
behind every door
their liberty sacred,
today—evermore

Designated driver,
your road to end at last
The choice was yours, mistake inured,
your future now your past
Designated driver,
those high beams in your eyes
A haunting name, the lasting blame
—that night your dreams reprise

We are often the
most critical
Of what we are the
most guilty of
(Villanova Pennsylvania: January, 2015)
Out of my league, that's how you are
Still my foolish heart saw you a par
To your proposed love, I did not refrain
I will be happier, once I fall in love again
Far cry the laws, we tried and go beyond
We're happy and giddy yet all gone wrong
To people around, I've been a mark of Cain
I will be happier, once I fall in love again
I shared my time, my heart and my life..
But you, YOU rife all nothing but strife
No words can explain the pain that reign
I will be happier, once I fall in love again
I am scared, so afraid to show all reasons
Thus, I cling... cling tightly unto my Jesus
With this, I sustained. New strength I gain
I will be happier, once I fall in love again

The way
of Cain
ever
leads
to pain
anger
so plain
so great
to bear
shouts,
hits out
with
lies
denies
kin's
cries
then
sighs
ill met
marked
forever
with
regret
Dare I chide you my child
For playing in the moonlight
With the children of those I know
Despise my kind and kin folks?
Dare chide you my child
For daring to put aside
deep seated wounds I felt
Grievances of generations past and present?
Dare I chide you my child
For mingling without fear
With those who, time after time,
Try to carve the mark of Cain on my face?
Dare I chide you my child
For trusting in the infinite goodness of man,
That sustains us in the most difficult of times,
And gives us hope when all seems lost?
I have taught you
To see goodness in everyone.
So ignore my fears my child,
For even when goodness titters on the edge,
As evil nudges it towards the precipice,
Many hands reach out to sprinkle the wings of justice
And goodness does, once again,
Soar to its rightful place of safety.
And the mark of Cain,
Carved on my face with infinite care,
Fades away with painful memories
Of the legacies of a people's miseries.
And it has,.........on this memorable day
