Mandarin Poems

Premium MemberMandarin Duck and Blue Jay Rivalry

Mandarina duck was bragging a teensy bit
Blue jay heard of it, and threw a giant fit
She was speaking of her crest as if it was unique
I have a crest also, Bart the blue jay did speak

Mandarina duck preened, showing off her black and white trim.
I have that too, Bart pointed out to a cardinal named Jim.
Jim flew off, not wanting to get into this turmoil
Mandarina duck made fun of the jay; his anger now on boil

I am the most colorful with my browns, rusts, and copper colors.
Bart the blue jay was told of this bragging by his mischievous brothers.
Mandarina duck has the ugliest beak, it is such a dull blah red.
These enemies held on to this grudge until both were dead.

They might have been friends, if they had tried even a bit.
But she was such an opinionated duck, and he was a bit of a chit.

Mandarin

When questioned about chinese,
I affirmed my expertise.
And so I sought to learn more,
Having known nothing before.

Premium MemberTeach 'Em Mandarin

Kids today can't focus
    Most have ADD
  Forget about 'comprehension'
'Cat' and 'Dog' they can't read

Instead of essays, they write jigsaw puzzles
    That's why on 'writing tests'
Just have 'em fill in bubbles
Grading them is much less trouble

As for mathematics, it's a foreign language
    Teach 'em Mandarin instead
That way they won't get confused
    when counting sheep in bed

  Yet there's one tried-and-true solution
    every teacher ought to use
Tell 'em it's not mandatory ~
but you'd like to tell 'em a story

Mandarin Collar

It always makes me pain.
My mother’s scissors.
It’s an either-or situation
She cuts my old photos up into small pieces,
Or stir you into the mixture.
Whether or not it’s true
How could it interpret
These actions as love
Or the other kind of concession

Two Mandarin Oranges Were Both Very Much In Love,

Two mandarin oranges
were both very much in love,
and the rolled together down a hill,
to the ocean,
and the sun was swallowed by great waves,
and these little oranges( who came from a tree-)
Danced together on a sandy beach,
(somewhere-)
and they were in love,
till a little girl, named "Death"
came along and took one of the mandarin oranges,
and Death stole away with someone else's love
and piled her away and eat that orange up in one bite,
and the other orange lay there
Summer, fall, winter and spring came over and over,
till the one orange rotted away in a distant land (somewhere-)

Mandarin Red

What do I know of that young woman...
She never dared..and I was not allowed.
Hellion drained at last courageous
Holding on to remnants of electric beauty
Dying of neglect
Perhaps..in spite of duty.

And I suppose (to some sublime extent)
All that is known of her
Would make good kindling
Around suburban campfires glowing tastefully,
Where discontented matrons, still and all
Practice that much maligned art
Of fundamental
Character assasination
Behind a well dressed back - or two.

And here I am in a large bed waiting
Listening to the heartbeat of a ticking clock:
Lonely - lonely - lonely
Waiting for my nails to dry...
A pretty vanity left unsaid;

My favorite color,
Mandarin Red....

Our Mandarin Universe

The edges of an eclipsed
sun give birth in broken
shocks of light
to day love and life

We lift ourselves
to yawning
blades of grass near
an ocherous tree
raised by the mountains
beside us

Into an infinity
of yes as our
wings fall away
in the ultimate flight
immersed in the
syrup of our
mandarin universe
