A Piece Of Yesterday

Petrichor calls, I'll savor lungfuls.

I'll not today, only wallow in nostalgia;
usual lone figure in dark overcoat,
homeward from a maddening boss,
humming to the rhythm of my steps.

Listen to the musicality of the drops
on my large rainbow-hued umbrella,
and watch transitory tributaries flow riverward.

I will, in a worship-gaze at the sky,
eyes shut,
relish darts of wet impingement
sating my thirst with cool blessings.

Luxuriate in air stripped clean of dust,
watch rivulets run down cocoyam leaves,
run, jump into puddles and make splashes,
reveling in the unity of sweat, mud and rain,
as with my kids; in their colorful raincoats,
and my dog, I relive a piece of yesterday!

No Lungfuls of Hope

NO LUNGFULS OF HOPE

In the beginning, you are uttering sugary words
Words that surprisingly became schmaltz for me
And I used to believe them
Cos I was lame back then

Your slippery mouth that distorted candor like cherry stems
Just like fangs of a rattlesnake
Scratches. Swelling.
Leaving the subtle types of bane

I don't know if I'll hate you or myself
But one thing is for sure
I don't like you anymore
Subsuming your alp of thrills

And If I am inside the car right now
Maybe looking at the rearview mirror
Watching your body smolder in ashes
You. Are. Not. Worthy.

About Bsa

I want to puke up my
nostalgia
and breathe in
different air.

I want to keep down
my small lunches
and take in lungfuls
of your hair.

I want to punch myself in the face
and cry myself to sleep.
I want to puke away my worries
and teach myself to breathe.

Fragment of a Dream

I let the salt air
Just wash over me
And as I breath it deep
Into my lungs
I am transported to far-away places

By the rail
I see a mother
Occupy the centre of attention
And tell a story
To a captive audience
With two clothes
One around her chest, the other on her waist…

On the boat
I see traps and hooks
Pellets cast aside
By the wise fish
In red and white and green
These limousines cruise this green water
Distinct yachts’ of the ghetto!
I see the beautiful, the pretty
The observer and the observed
Little children in the sand
And semi-adults eating with their digits.

In the water
I swish my head
Back and forth
Left to right, right to left
And suddenly,
A water snake pops out its head
Smiling in delight
At the prospect of competition

On the fringes of my dream
I see myself
Drying out with a towel
I see this hydrophobic
Shaking her head like a wet dog

In this fragment of my dream
I am awake
But lungfuls of salt air
Still fill my airways
I breathe a sigh of relief
It was all a dream, I say
But sand sticks behind my toes!

Outcast

Just let me fall.
that's all i want to do.
Curled in a ball.
is that too much to,
ask for in life?
let me feel pain.
Just hand me a knife.
let me go insane.
let the tears fall down,
slowly and silently.
they never make a sound,
Yet i shake so violently.
its complete bliss,
to feel so hollow,
to feel like this,
choking on tears i swallow.
never ending it seems,
to the ground i drop.
lungfuls of screams,
that don't want to stop.
my heart beats fast.
my mind races.
I'm just an outcast.
among many faces....

Softly Sighs the Evening Breeze

Softly sighs the evening breeze of the sea
Exhilarating affect it had on me.
The soft sand under my bare feet.
With a wonderful sense of curiosity
I had gone to the sea greet.
I love to smell the sea,
To be as free as a bee
To take in great lungfuls of the cool air,
To see the vast blue expanse of the water's layer.
The cloudless canopy of the sky.
Colourful views of artists, poets, lovers, gals and guys.
The huge flaming orb of the setting sun
Indeed it is wonderful and wild fun.
The evening that went away
I was refreshed, delighted and gay
May such evenings always welcome me,
And leave me in infinite solitude and glee.
