POEM: THE STREET KID

In secret, a tale unfolds
A family bound by tradition's hold
Love and loyalty, a complex test
A story of power, of family nest

A mother's stress, a daughter's fate
A union formed, a future great
Twins born, a legacy to share
A family's rise, with wealth to spare

Businesses boom, a new path's laid
For young ones growing, with futures displayed
Their story's told, in verse and line
A testament to family ties divine

Through trials and strife, they find their way
Through every step, a new day
Their bond is strong, their hearts aflame
A family's love, that knows no shame

Their legacy grows, as they take the stage
A new generation, with a story to engage
Their family's history, a tale so grand
A story woven, hand in hand

    A treasured friend of mine
        faced down pain with sunshine

Feared no man, spoke her mind
        underneath, incredibly kind

Her family a source of unequalled pride
        daughter and grandson she deified

     Romantic at heart
        passionate, compassionate sweetheart …

Atlas

You came with quiet courage,

In the soft bloom of May,

Eyes like ocean mornings,

And waves that softly pray.

Named for one who held the world,

But born to chase the skies,

A gift from your mother’s heart

You’ll learn the art of rise.

Inside of you, an echo,

Of your father’s silent might,

To cradle every passing storm,

And carry it to light.

There’s patience in your presence,

Like rivers in no rush,

Moving through the world with grace,

In a quiet but certain hush.

Your brothers lit the lanterns.

That glow along your way,

Their laughter keeps you tethered.

When night forgets the day.

So grow with grace and wonder,

Let laughter find your name.

For love is in your making,

And purpose in your frame.

Wishing that I could roll back the years,
And stop my hot, burning tears!

Though no prayers, can turn back the clock,
As you slept in my arms, with only one sock.

No more seeing you in Wal-Mart, silly -dance!
Only in cracked, memory’s mirror, I have a chance.

For you, belong to tomorrow ‘s rainbows and sunshine,.
Grandson, for you, in gratitude, I do in tears pine!
Those baby soft days, talcum- powdered, ever divine!

Khia's Crusade

Saracen princess,

Blackened corridors bathed in honey hold you in high esteem as you dance in flickers, eyes raising the death toll every time you envision your body against your next casualty. It pleases me greatly.

Could you cross into that other world with me? Our souls have traversed the morning sky, searching for the cure to this hallucination, masking horripilation with lust and ambition. It would please me greatly.

I am the son of the soldier who was the grandson of a soldier who was the great-grandson of a chief. My mother tells me my grandmother believes she's a queen. It pleases me greatly.

I will bring you every world. The corridors of my heart flicker, masking the morning sky with visions of blackened soldiers, horror hollowed by a honeyed queen. You please me greatly.

“Sweet puppy love he does impart-
that flows out from his giant heart!”
                                              _by Poet

Our grandson has a very special pet
who's nine months old, and such a loving one!
If you could see him, surely you'd forget
he's still a puppy wanting to have fun!
He might outpace you on a morning run;
then on your lap, he spreads out long and wide.
One hundred pounds already, and not done;
sweet Bernese Mountain Dog stands tall with pride!
But, how big will he get? I ask myself, wide-eyed.

Empty shoes

We all have those moments. Moments in life when you know things will never be the same for you. For me that moment was seeing Fred's black Pumas on the stairs after he had passed away. The empty shoes gave me a flash back. I saw him standing at the kitchenette counter in his scrubs and the same all-black althetic sneakers preparing my morning coffee and vitamins. His light blue scrubs unable to hide his hulking shoulders and chest , yet loose on his flat stomach. In his stead i'd find a freshly pressed coffee, vitamins and water bottle in a row on the counter. A true care taker of a care taker. At one time, these little acts of service became a welcomed routine. Now... the same shoes sat empty and lonely on the steps toward where we used to live. Which was now just an empty room. Fredy'd never have a chance to Be. A chance to better himself. A chance at Love again , which I know he had a lot of to give. The empty shoes filled my heart with sadness. The thought that his large heart no longer beat in his chest was almost too much for me to bear. Who could ever fill this man's shoes? As a Brother, a Son, Grandson and Caretaker, as a Lover or as a Best Friend.

A Lady in the Street

This lady’s hair is so, so white,
creates an aura for that face.
Her age puts forth its beauty in the street.

She could be my charming mother,
my darling grand-mama,
that lovable great Aunt Lucy.

But I am old, and all are gone.
How easy it is to conjure memories of those
three ladies when someone passes me in the street.

When your pulse quickens, and
You gasp at that moment of time.
You realize you're the only one in the room,
But not alone.
The room becomes smaller, and
The air is thick with fear.
This is when you see the shadows,
Dodging between the doorways.
The lighting in the room becomes darker,
As you hear the whispers and noises all around.
Your curiosity gets underneath your skin.
Goosebumps, chills, and the visions.
The visions of the unknown in your mind.
The house becomes cold as ice,
Showing your breath as you breathe.
You hear giggling from your grandson,
Sitting on the floor, clapping his hands,
As the toy train moves by itself.
He has no fear,
Then you see the ghostly hand,
Caressing his head as he looks up,
Saying, "Grandma."
You were never in any danger,
She came to visit her grandson.
You prayed for a sign since her passing,
Every day, your heart breaks missing her,
She's been here the whole time.
She walks over and kisses you on,
Your cheek as she disappears.

Premium MemberAnother First!

Just another first
Oh the joy of having a 3 year old grandson
Who I can share my love
And loves with.

And so today
I buy him his first CD
Soundtrack to Curious George
By an artist I listen to.

“Without you I was broken
But I’d rather be broke down
With you by my side.”
Indeed!
