A treasured friend of mine
faced down pain with sunshine
Feared no man, spoke her mind
underneath, incredibly kind
Her family a source of unequalled pride
daughter and grandson she deified
Romantic at heart
passionate, compassionate sweetheart …
R.I.P, Panagiota Romios
treasured friend of mine

SweeterThan All the Roses
Wishing that I could roll back the years,
And stop my hot, burning tears!
Though no prayers, can turn back the clock,
As you slept in my arms, with only one sock.
No more seeing you in Wal-Mart, silly -dance!
Only in cracked, memory’s mirror, I have a chance.
For you, belong to tomorrow ‘s rainbows and sunshine,.
Grandson, for you, in gratitude, I do in tears pine!
Those baby soft days, talcum- powdered, ever divine!

her resolve loosened
because he is her grandson
dissipating grudge
his choices not hers
but she cannot love him less
pure true grandmas love
“Sweet puppy love he does impart-
that flows out from his giant heart!”
_by Poet
Our grandson has a very special pet
who's nine months old, and such a loving one!
If you could see him, surely you'd forget
he's still a puppy wanting to have fun!
He might outpace you on a morning run;
then on your lap, he spreads out long and wide.
One hundred pounds already, and not done;
sweet Bernese Mountain Dog stands tall with pride!
But, how big will he get? I ask myself, wide-eyed.
Just another first
Oh the joy of having a 3 year old grandson
Who I can share my love
And loves with.
And so today
I buy him his first CD
Soundtrack to Curious George
By an artist I listen to.
“Without you I was broken
But I’d rather be broke down
With you by my side.”
Indeed!

Autumn’s now here, waves lap the shore.
Your strong, warm, bronzed hand holds mine .
Our daughter, grown, loves us forever more.
Our grandson, now a teen, for him, I do pine.
May we live for many years, with kisses galore
I went out picking apples...with my granddaughter and grandson
My grandson had his basket all filled up, but my granddaughter...
she had "ONLY"- one
There were plenty apples on the trees,
and just as many of them on the ground
But none of them had looked so good...
then the one that she had found
It looked so red and so delicious.
I would have loved a bite or two
But when I said to my granddaughter...
"you're gonna love that apple"
She said- "No papa...that one's for you"
Chit chattering so happily, in babyish first conversations,
Like treetop little birdies, sharing emerald observations,
Burbling giddily and gaily, as golden moments evanesce,
Tattling like garden beauty secrets, in the feverish press!
Jabbering enthusiastic jollity, in the success of noon sun,
Rumors of glad gibberish, as droning bees in gilt sudden,
Joyful, twittering chit-chat, at back fence of my gladness,
Gossiping with fascinated grandma, on a summer canvas.
Hey little man, what do you say?
You're looking mighty fine today!
Your baby blues are so big and bright,
Your charming dimples are a delight!
Hey little man, your pictures tease -
Just want to give those cheeks a squeeze!
And who can resist your baby speak -
Your squeals and coos, a little squeak?
Hey little man, your winsome smiles,
Make me want to cross the miles,
So I can see you face to face,
And hold you close in warm embrace.
Hey little man, you have captured my heart,
It's been in your hands right from the start.
And though I'm not with you everyday,
Know you are loved in every way!
If you see her before l do
Can you please tell her from me
That l am doing well
So do not worry ….I am happy
I know she worried about leaving me
As l did about letting her go
We talked so much of matters of the heart
She knew my heart completely l know
Please tell her it took me many years
To adjust to life without her here
The one l love still stands by my side
Lovingly wiping away my tears
Please tell her we three are all happy and healthy
Her grandson is a kind hearted, loving man
He is confident and has inner peace
Is in love now with a lovely girl from Scotland
So, if you see her before l do
Please tell her my memories of her
Keep her alive within me
Please tell her how much l miss her here
I love her eternally…..

Parity Parody
I was just twenty, was young and healthy, and I said let's dance,
Turned to you Big Ben, said, first kiss say when, you said not a chance.
I was now thirty, I played a small bit, sort of a big hit,
They made me a clown, the small kids attacked, Pennywise from IT!
I planned at forty, thought to be sporty, got you a "Hottie"
Till out of the cake, in his birthday suit, grandson went potty.
I knew at fifty, what do I get for one with everything,
That's when you said a set of Bone China, two cats from Beijing.
I had turned sixty, said you're pretty, but I said something dumb,
Turned where glass is, eyes like molasses, I said you're wearing them!

I ponder
How long will this innocence last.
As I watch him play….take leave
Of our world
And become a dinosaur,
Roar and stomp and laugh
And mispronounce their names.
I watch her pirouette
Turn cartwheels
Dance to a tune only she hears
Tumble to the floor….. laughing.
I struggle to protect them
To shield them from
The righteousness of authoritarianism
To permit them to be themselves.
It is not my job to mold them
Shape them, compel them
But to provide them a safe place
To discover their uniqueness
To explore, to dare to be
A dinosaur, a ballerina
A child.

My arms are filled with pure contentment
my heart is knit to this precious bundle of love
my fingers slowly caress his fair, soft cheeks
my eyes look deeply into his innocent blue eyes.
From the moment I beheld him, I was smitten
he is still yet a tiny bud upon the flower of life
I pray I will see this little one bloom to maturity
to see him thrive within the loving soil of his family.
His essence, his sweetness, resonates within my soul
God has truly gifted me with a beautiful grandson
I am beyond blessed and will pray each and every day
that little Zephyr will come to know God in every way.

Grace
Black and white like a panda bear,
but so much softer is your hair.
Every day you smile at me,
your toothy grin a blessing.
I throw the stick,
the ball,
the toy,
you run and jump
with happy joy.
You make me laugh,
and sing.
Always coming at my call,
even when I am the one,
to fall.
You never scold me,
if I am bad,
instead you take away,
my sad.
You are a dog,
a wonderful gift.
And God knew I needed...
a miracle.
