BEDTIME MAGIC

Sprawled under nightscape of galaxy bright
Tiny sequins pulse on blaze of luster,
A beaded stars nova bursts on flight
Into a full-blown montage, the lawns flicker

Reams of tales climb on visions lit by dappled view
While children’s breaths gleam of fantasy hayrides,
And fairies jut out from chapters to touch the hue
Yearning to blend into a ladder that divides

The seashore from a skyline blushing streams;
On one unmentionable lightness of firework glory
Tinseled rhinestones kindle hopes of angelic dreams,
Holding a cachet of flowered moon for bedtime story

Enchanted, their mother blows a peppermint kiss
Staring at gems waltzing high up on glittered air,
Threads of her locks meshed by twinkles of lullaby bliss
As graceful nebulae cuddle sweetened hours, ever fair

Rounding her infants, wonders of night magic sigh
Stars radiant dip into eyes; winking good night, goodbye!

“since thoughts speak in past tenses,
drop mind, rely on senses,
embracing and releasing,
pain pangs and pleasure pleasing” ~ Unseeking Seeker

The sun
w a n e s into the saline swell,
and the ether
undresses corseted ruminations,
while heart follows formless flames
illuminated with flares of
frankincense forgiveness
as mind replays recurring regrets
like vinyls~
spinning forlorn runes
laced with fallacious fragments,
clouding the intricate cycle of lunar~
intuitions with illusive riddles,
drifting into the eventide of agony…

So I drink and I dine
from the hyacinth hands of
the golden chalices
brimming with turmeric tranquility,
listening ~ in sync ~
with the soul of sanguine stillness
ricocheting with rustling repose,
erasing cracked crevices
heavy with ache
from soft smears of monarch-bliss strokes,
spilling picturesque pigments of peace
from Mona Lisa musings
  to veil visions of vanity,
  to mask mirrors of melancholy,
to soften scarlet streaks of sorrow…

Tonight I close the portals
of perplexed perceptions,
unlocking the crown chakra
like forgotten forests
glowing with faith and fireflies,
allowing stars to glaze
my inner psyche
with dusts of glistening gratitude,
fine-tuning the symphony of Kundalini
to musical mists of mindfulness,
cloaked in
crystalline clovers of clarity~
like an awakened fairy
flipping leaves of lotus love,
pausing the pulse of pain
beneath an empyrean embellished
with spiritual elixirs,
detached from darkness,
clinging neither to
the seraphic scriptures
nor the egoistic galaxies,
sprinkling superficial sparkles
of material mantras.
As enlightened ink r e m a i n s
reliving ~ sewn into the
seams of sacredness
like endless rivers rippling with
   opalescent quiescence…

O divine almighty,
I vow to sow herbs of harmony,
engrossed in the timeless phase
of rose-wine twilight~
untangling twisted tulips
intertwined with
weathered willows.
As I seek nothing but lucid light,
soaked in petrichor musings,
resting in zealous zenith,
for I am a rhymeless disciple
accepting the reality
that kissed the silk of silhouette
amidst rain and warmth~
the celestial peaks of change.
I taste flavors of kismet,
swallowing spices of lament,
comfortably composed
in the mystical essence
              of soundless rhythm…

Come Again

It was the first time I fell in love
With brown eyes, big smiles…funny face
Miles and miles of words exchanged
And so few remembered
Thinking it would last a lifetime
Excitement growing, a spoonful of sugar
Straight into the mouth
Dissolved all the same

Happy memories char me with grief
A photo captured but never seen
For they never come again
As you do

Pen, paper
A rose, the best gift I ever received
Never should have eaten that lollipop
You were right, it was the wrong time
But it made you smile so sublime

Chubby red face glistens in the sunlight
We were so young and bright
“Bye buddy!”
Laughter becomes muddy
A dance we never danced
Green grass . . . brown coat
Swimming pool
Nothing left but a frumpy moat
An empty spoon that still shines
Though nothing received

They never come again
As you do

What I remember most
Is that shiny red nose
When you laugh, I often see it again
But you are with others
And it is still truly beautiful
See, some visions last
But emotions ever change
And thoughts flee and live again

Come again
And you may remember some blue green eyes
Maybe I should have never said goodbye

With temps in the nineties for four solid weeks,
and nary a raindrop forever it seems;
our outlook is bleak and to this our mood speaks
of these late summer months and their endless extremes
as the visions of autumn are filling our dreams.

The ground is all cracked and the grass has turned brown
as the fires in the west still continue to burn;
this lengthy hot summer is getting us down.
It’s time for a change as we slowly discern;
for the moderate weather of autumn we yearn.

For family and friends a tailgate we’ll host
as Friday night football the hometown we cheer,
and cool nights by the campfire as marshmallows roast.
The colors of fall on the tree leaves appear
in yellows and ambers and crimsons so clear.

We long for the sight of the full harvest moon
as it rises on high in October night sky,
and patches of pumpkins like bright orange balloons.
We’ll welcome the autumn with hope and a sigh
as we bid our farewell to the summer – good bye.

Quiet Happy

A whisper gently in the night
One that sweetly lingers into daylight

And into days, weeks, months, and years
Quietly walking in faith and extirpating all fears

Silently working like a Yeoman
Standing on my square, firmly holding the master plan

From a long ago when you first whispered to my soul
And over time you have quietly aggrandized me, now making me whole

Like a mighty crescendo as the song plays
A lovely melody now playing in my days

Triumphantly to a new...
So far from few

Now abundance all around...
Sweet blessings from fertile ground

A new day has gloriously dawned...
Big dreams and visions have beautifully spawned

i can’t complete a scene
no voices heard
in early years
i’d not retain
i’m all alone
i see it all -
school tables
the painting easel
the cardboard bricks
graham crackers and milk

i’d bounce along a truck tire -
sandbox of neighbor
  ate cream cheese
& jelly sandwiches
on the braided rug
their mother crafted
but don’t recall
our conversation

life was quiet
i took it in
the subtle moods
  and the trees
    were always my friends
the breeze before the storm
the excitement as they whipped
and roared -
i retain this

the forest of my mind
tethered to sweet honesty
and honeysuckle scents
to loneliness
and friends

later I’d own a record player
go ‘round and ‘round with puppy love
and shake your booty
hang out with girlfriends
talking of spooky things and boys

i’d pack my bag
fly south in the Winter
take hold
of my seabag
go adventuring
searching for words

Always My Love

Always my love

Simple reminders of conscious belief
Filter my mind with the moon’s silver glow
Satisfied truths sent to spell my relief
All that my beating heart now needs to know

Sensual visions to capture the feel
Bringing the contours of wind sculpted plains
Temptations cry out for all that is real
Filling the void that I now can explain

Cloudless these evenings of star sprinkled mist
Shimmering soft on the eclipse of love
Delicious the thoughts of your warm tender kiss
Found in these endless illusions above

Memories harbor the times that we’ve lived
Photograph remnants of places once shared
Telling the story of all it can give
Building the dreams now worth capturing there

Still we are standing alone on this eve
Counting the points of the bright scattered light
Dreams can come true if we only believe
Whispering prayers on this warm summer’s night

Hear my desires a float on the breeze
Finding their way to the one I adore
Listen, my love, for I hope but to please
Biding the time till you’re with me once more

Down on my knees with my fingers entwined
Solemn requests I now send to the sky
Pleading with heaven to be ever kind
Answer my prayers ‘fore this night passes by

All that I ask shall be all that I need
Merely the chance I may prove ever true
You are my life and in that I believe
Always my love will be only for you

Good night Soupers

“Time is a gift that most of us take for granted. We get caught up in our daily lives and rarely take the time to appreciate the simple wonders around us.”

Take time to read.
Wonders indeed
Wonderful times,
Making Rhymes.
Sapphire dew drops.
Bubble as it pops.
Pink cotton candy
Fine French brandy
Sweet baby smiles
Beauty that beguiles.
Kitten’s gentle purr
Puppy’s soft fur
Time heals.
Church bell peals
Soft lemon scent
Feeling content
Brilliant sun rising
Oh, so mesmerizing.
Sun softly fading.
Lemonade cascading
Fresh air inhales
Spider web trails
Time to wonder,
Why it’s down-under.
Captivating looks
Mystery books
Lover’s letters
Angora sweaters
Connecting glances
Heaven sent chances.
First spring rose
Ribbons n bows
Sweet vine grapes
Red velvet drapes
Ornate Venus statue
When I look at you
Time of the essence.
In quiescence
Lavender snips
Smooth satin lips
Petite daisy chains
Cover when it rains.
Wanting to stay
Celestial visions play.
Pirouetting pansies
Goofy chimpanzees
Crisp linen sheet
Friends as they meet.
Time to wander,
Fields out yonder.
Poem of splendor
Caresses so tender
Soft tissue paper
Sandalwood vapor
Call of the ocean
Love’s raw emotion
Fading fairy wings
As my heart sings
Time passes
Fine crystal glasses.
Foam from waves.
Exploring caves
Child’s ponytail.
Pastels ever so pale
Ornamented icicles
Penny-farthing bicycles
Time flies
Kaleidoscope of butterflies
Golden flowing hair
Two sharing prayer
Secrets we can whisper.
Mornings getting crisper.
Fun rides at the fair
A hide-away lair
Dispersing lollipops
Peppermint drops.
Filigree carnations
Winning presentations
Waterfalls cascading
Fairies happily wading.
Cinnamon apple slice
Lucky roll of the dice
Camera flashes
Rain as it lashes.
Walking proud
Sings out loud.
Time to go,
Will miss you so.

From the very depths of my inner being I cherish poetry,
without the written verse I’d be impoverished as a person,
literary projects spur me on to otherworldy epic peaks,
an open channel with furtherance from lexicons endowed,
golden opportunity for human pathos rich and fair,
stomach-wrenching pain, joyous peals of laughter, mental stimulus,
visions I adhere to have a wider world impetus,
the comity of fellow authors and their honest feedback,
diplomatic goodwill hint at barren lapse within my canon,
and gracious honeyed Bon Mot of peer group kudos on occasions,
that angst-ridden moment before a contest sponsor judgement,
bold gasp of relief at higher placement than expected,
or just as likely glum expression at the baleful NA,
in support a staunch muse Jay A Pallen shed her light,
loyal and demonstrative sister, whose sparkling eyes ooze warmth,
sagacious councillor supreme, bestowing love on this bard and their ardent stanza,
who brought to my attention bewitching vistas waiting to be captured,
influencer of my first ever piece “Downward Plod,”
shortlisted for Creative Writing Ink poet challenge,
where this writer’s magic life-enhancing odyssey began

Almost Never

When those gray clouds gather up
and hide the bright,warm sun...
almost never
I take along my umbrella and raincoat;
almost never
I let my worries build up...
oh,a rainbow never fails to appear
on the peaceful horizon!

When I'm feeling the weight of stress,
I turn to happy thoughts
that seem to share my real visions...
soon to become the only strength
of my undying hope;
a hope going beyond all awareness!

Almost never
I give into hopelessness
or to useless anger and fright,
believing that forgiveness
is simply another prayer;
almost never
I lose heart
and forget to care!
