Life can be a different nightmare
when philo-sophias self-righteously
uprightly leave us behind
so long in search of success
measured in wealth of commodified acquisitions
rather than health of natural/spiritual capitalization
of virtuously co-managed left/right
co-balancing cooperative structures
for co-investing future resilience,

Like a thirsty hummingbird
living in a too-red environment,

Like dissonant notes
hiding in a too-rich symphony,

Community, communion investing in health
not as ordered by MotherEarth
as demonic TaskMaster of perpetual raw-spot punishment
in perpetually vicious win/lose competitions
against past and future disgraced generations,
rather than wealthy sacred interdependent venerations.

Philosophers and politicians
preachers and prophets
parents and their prey
might instead invest in Earth rights and lefts
as our dance and play Mother
embracing more cooperative win/win choreography,
ecological theologies of color
and scale,

More of a sweet spot multigenerational tango
searching out climatic self-governing unity
rather than a righteous raw spot monocultural war
of nightmartish lose/lose uniformity
unto climate collapsing apocalypse,

Mortality of life
giving way to ecocentric wise dancing regenerations
of local through global multicultural Earth,
enjoying nature more cooperatively-managed,
never competitively-owned in spiritualized theories
of universal Yang Domination
with too complexly uniform marching into fragmented war orders
over-ruling uniting invitations
into win/win multigenerational YinDance,

Now wiser about distinguishing
between individualistic capitalism,
supporting business as usual
monoculturally colonizing patriarchy

And Earth's cooperative capitalization,
actively inviting natural/spiritual
sweet spot win/win dialogue
more than raw spot,
Who is the biggest Loser of vanishing success?
academic debates

Confusing wealth requirements
with healthy response to
What is winning?
Since before liberating philosophers
severed natural nutritional eco-healthy balance
from spiritually robust wealthy ego-investment.

Life in and on Earth's resonant ecosystems
can be a different nightmare
when philo-sophias self-righteously
upright leave us behind
so long in search
of health's wealthiest eco-political success.

A diesel generator
drowns out the rusted Marshall stack

Six years we owned
    the Billboard charts;
        the DJ who crowned us
            every summer
                for five straight years—
this week, a county fair;
tonight, the Music Pier.

The drummer tapes two split fingers
    closes his hand once
        hard—
then rests the sticks
    by Mick’s ashes
in a Folgers Black Silk can behind the kit

Tommy’s gold sequins
    snag on his dialysis catheter
        as he sits

Johnnie the P-bassist drags a stool onstage
    to ease his neuropathy

We are crushed elderberries
hawking CDs from a card table,
bleeding a dark, tart stain
    onto ninety aluminum chairs

No teenagers weep;
    a man wipes funnel-cake grease
        from his chin

As I tune the cherry-red '57 Stratocaster
    down a minor third,
hoarse from pushing air
    through a throat scraped thick
        with scar tissue

We were a dense, golden field
    beneath the studio lights
        on Midnight Special

Now plucked dandelion crowns
    scatter over Ferris wheel blacktop,
leaving white ghost-tufts
    snagged in the Music Pier’s
        boardwalk planks

Where just three bald stems
    plug into the seaside damp—

and the seeds drift past the shoreline,
    washed up,
        vanishing into the deep
            we used to call home

A lion unaware that his portrait is being taken,
by a photographer-   before his great beauty is gone;
before . . . all wild animals are tragically forsaken,
to capture his tranquil spirit the photo was taken at dawn.

I weep, weep for the disappearance of such a creature,
and for his natural world and landscapes created by God;
just look into this lion's face and let him be your teacher.
Beauty is vanishing! Don't be misled by the facade.

“All change is not growth, as all movement is not forward.” – Ellen Glasgow

The old ways of life are like an endangered species
Lost in the cycle of life that brings us more
More houses, more jobs, more value… or
Does that really mean less - if the truth were spoken

There was a time when we all shared our meals
Around a kitchen table where hope dwelled
There we prayed, learned and grew strong
From home cooked meals served with honest love

There was a time when we knew right from wrong
We didn’t need any instructions other than God’s word
To remind us that we were doing something sinful
Losing our morals or damaging our values for some indulgence

Is it valuable enough to call it worthy, meaningful and alive
Like the past we’ve left behind along with God’s authority

Black Magic Potions

Across vacancy memories invoke forgotten years
Exodus from antipathy inscrutably liberates fears
                     Intransience spiritually battles amoral challenges
                     Crucially revitalized measures presaging changes

Deceptions obscure lies within fraudulent sleeves
                     Bringing adversaries down indictments aggrieves
                     Justifications echoing beyond overpowering roars
Unlike forsaken vessels reality lands upon shores

Probing mortal frailties evading blind perceptions
Enlightenment transcend old black magic potions
                     Delusion transmogrified into vanishing blemishes
Swept along eroding waves of abandoned wishes

Three Lady Beetles

Three lady beetles
put on a little show;
Whilst in the great outdoors
Effected me to whoa.

Spotted one on a leaf,
Handled her with care
Weightless though sheer greatness and
Black-spotted orange wear.

The miniature living charm
Circled round one two
Then up up and beyond
Vanishing to blue.

There I stood there gleeful
From what I did entail
Surprisingly another lady
Followed in her trail.

Oh what a blessing to receive
Left me wonderstruck
A gift from our almighty
Though some may call it luck.

Magically eased aching feet
Tensions did release
Bringing just a little joy
Wonders never cease.

Completed chores ,climbed the stairs
With memories I saw
Only to find with all in mind
Lady beetle at my door!

Virus of the Absurd

Absurd is the business of disappointment with meaning
crawling to our knees in defeat
and panacea for healing that lasts
a full moment, before vanishing forever.

Absurd is the claim of victory over a raging battle
when one is in self-retreat and the enemy runs
rampant in the streets.

Absurd is the virus's real vocation
butchering us like flies and
then taking a breather before
resuming its onslaught.

Absurd is the cruelty of faith
in post-virus that carries hope
to self-destruction.

Absurd is the mercurial moment
of suspense between now and future
laden in ambiguity.

Absurd is the true essence
beating in the heart of darkness
enveloping the horizon.

Absurd is the light of
enlightenment promising
relief.

Absurd is the nature of
humanity yearning for
what it fears most.

Fire Escape Dreamers

They see only what they need
That desire to see beyond
The heat and squalor
The effrontery to our species' senses
The sentient beings whose 2nd bedroom
Remains the fire escape

How haunting
The mangy dog sniffing the gutter below
Ribs needing something besides vanishing hair
To protect his fragile existence
His pride long gone
Like the optimistic glow of a downtrodden eye
Slowly closing in the darkness of lost hope

Yet
Somehow
The animal survives
Knows no towel to throw
Not ropes to hang upon
No round bell of ending to depend upon

We contemplate

High above
TV antennae sway precariously
Moon's glow the spotlight
This era of cable
Beyond reach
HD a dream
Rabbit ears struggling to survive
Yet another era of poverty

For such mutual survivors
Resting on window sills
Splayed on cast iron escapes
Atop pillow and laundry
The square screen offering fantasy survival
Providing dreams in the bed of hope
Even though void of reality
So innocent
They survive greed's harsh weapons
Enduring further nights of longing
Endemic to Manhattan's perpetual struggle
Syria's
Athens'
Perhaps even tomorrow's Kenya

When does the glad hand of deception disappear
The reach of power's greed meet its end?

To talk
To negotiate
To be human
Some believe
Remains futility's endowment

Never perhaps an epiphanous platform
But fire escapes around the world
Will always afford relief for the moment
Trusting someday
There will be
No need
For such painful dreaming

Every step I take
disappear,
every sound I make
refuse to reverberate…

Does it mean?
I’ve stopped existing
does it mean?
that I’m not of importance?

What happened to?
the promises made,
the pact that we’ll
do it together?

Is it null and void?

Was it words written
in the sand on the seashore,
only to be washed away
with the first signs of high tide?

Don’t you know
that it’s not that easy to forget
that it’s not that easy to pretend,
that we were once inseparable,

So I walk around in this labyrinth,
more bewildered,
but in anticipation
for that day…

That day my footsteps
will remain,
for that day my voice
will reverberate again….

Apart

Sadness has taken me..
My love has not
My love on the verge of unfulfilling moments
These moments in life has taken us apart
Was once endearing
Was once joyful
We both walked a path of fulfillment and gratification
Along with laughter as medicine
To heal and soothe one's soul
Feeling much fortune
We have been blessed with one another
Whole heartedly
What has transpired?
I shall never understand
A love so strong
So solid
Had turned into ashes and rubble
My love is on the verge of walking
Walking a path of separateness..
Painfully unknown to me
Never shall I understand
How a love for another can turn into just grains of sand..
Simply vanishing into thin air
Becoming non existent..
Grains of sand are so vast
So astronomical
So endless
So unlimited
Perhaps love for another shall not vanish
Shall not become non existent
Perhaps love for another
Shall represent grains of sand
Which is never ending and always unlimited..
