It was on a cold night in Bethlehem that hope was born
A babe lay in a manger as angels sang joyfully
Above the nativity a star shone casting bright light
Guiding the paths of three wise men to welcome our Savior
As shepherds flocked toward the illuminated holy site
The warmth from within still touches the hearts of all mankind

In remembrance we pray for harmony among mankind
As we celebrate the first Christmas, optimism born
In the Mideast soldiers bow down, recalling this wondrous site
For just one night thoughts of war fade, hearts are filled joyfully
They lay down weapons, focusing on the birth of our Savior
As they huddle together, sharing good will by camp light

In many parts of the world, homes illuminated by light
Peace touches the hearts of those who seek blessings for mankind
Church bells ring, signaling the arrival of our Savior
Souls are touched as the restoration of joy is now born
Worshippers proceed to mass, sharing greetings joyfully
If only each day could be filled with such a loving site

How welcome to see the sun rise each day on such a site
Hearts abounding with humanity from our inner light
With angels in each of us sharing good will joyfully
If I live to see such days, I’ll have new hope for mankind
Trust and faith would emanate, celebrating a Child born
A Child, a Leader Who would give His life as a Savior

Cast aside the trappings, focus only on our Savior
Keep in mind this first Christmas, a blessed and holy site
How wonderful it would be to see new harmony born
Differences seem petty as we revel in God’s light
Join me in expectations for the future of mankind
Like the seraphs let us sing out in hymns so joyfully

Make our future one that finds families praying joyfully
No greater inspiration than the birth of our Savior
From a Blessed Mother’s womb sprang a babe to save mankind
Let us be wise men, finding cause to worship at this site
War and hatred cannot exist within God’s holy light
Acceptance of each man’s worth can in joyful hearts be born

Raise your hearts, revel joyfully in our Savior’s glory
In cheer mankind recalls the site of a manger at night
Where neath a star’s light was born a King, the Son of our Lord

The Night of the Moon

It's the night of the moon
and though it's not in my sight.
The magic will be here soon.
The full moon takes the stage tonight.

I feel as low as the tide.
The dark clouds set the tone.
Watching waves and sand collide.
I walk the beach all alone.

The clouds are fighting the sun.
They can't keep the bright light behind.
Sunset and beauty become one.
Doubt and hope crowd my mind.

Brilliant hues of orange,pink,and red
contrasting with clouds dark and gray
The sun paints a picture before bed
and then takes the painting away.

Splashing way out there in the sea.
Winking stars playfully laughing out loud.
I wonder,how this can be?
The night wont carry a cloud.

Where have all the clouds gone?
They've been plucked out of the sky.
The battle with the sun was been won.
I question not how, only why?

There's a bright glow in the west.
The curtain goes up for the show.
Dancing lights on the water are next.
Slowly rising the moon seems to grow.

Sometimes it's such a spiritual thing.
When nature reveals what it can truly do.
I can almost hear this moon sing.
So extravagant, it must be alive too.

My memory goes back to a time.
When the moon stole the show like this.
I was with a girl that was so fine
and remembered that, that night we kissed.

But my memories are what had me down.
I can't remember too many good.
There was the clouds at sundown
and suddenly I understood.

If I only kept good thoughts in my minds eye
and make all the bad ones just finish.
Maybe then my thoughts wont seem to magnify
what my memory can't seem to diminish.

Out with the bad thoughts in with the new.
I'll fill my head with good memories only.
But it seems that there are so few
that my thoughts might just get lonely.

That makes a smile come to my lips
and I wonder, did I just laugh out loud?
I watch enchanted as the moon slips
across the sky without a cloud.

My mood has changed I realize.
I knew I felt that pull.
Now I know hope never dies.
Hope lives in a moon this full.

No Nonsense

Those early 3am mornings when nobody is awake
and your footsteps echo on the cold floor while walking
to the fridge for the one diet soda and some fast food sitting
alone waiting to be consumed.

Freedom. No nonsense. No clutter. Just an empty apartment full
of hope and inspiration. Alone. It makes perfect sense.

Why do we need so much stuff? So many things that weigh us down.
The apartment just shouts out....STOP burdening yourself with nonsense.
Live simply, like me. Decorate yourself with sanity. Empower yourself with light.
A new start. A blank slate. All the moments here are mine and only mine.

I do a somersault in the middle of the floor. Nothing to bump into. I jump around
and sing. Just my voice with no deep base booming from my stereo. I decide where the
television should go. Now, why is THAT the first thing I do? Am I so used the noise of it
that I can't enjoy one night of silence without having to imagine it there?

No physical boundaries. I look around, smile. I think tomorrow I will postpone
my furniture delivery for the following day and take one more night to surrender to the
emptiness.

16

she 16
every move she makes is a seen

and no one seems to realize
what hides behind her eyes

all judgmental people see
is the side she doesn't what to be

so she cries at night
because she cant see the light

anymore
anymore

and she hopes and prays
that one of these days

she"ll be able to change

home is where she wants to be but you can never see or tell
if its ganna be heaven or hell

and all her friends just lie
because they"d rather be out high

so she thinks no one cares
because no ones there

so she cries at night
because she cant see the light

anymore
anymore

and she hopes and prays
that one of these days

she"ll be able to change

with scares up and down her arm
how could she put herself in so much harm

she living in a human cage
with all this built up rage

how could she stay sane

so she cries at night
because she cant see the light

anymore
anymore

and she hopes and prays
that one of these days

she"ll be able to change

Get Ready! Stay Awake!

What are you doing running all over town,
making plans and rushing around?

You're always watching your weight,
cutting down on fat.
Oh, I need my spirit lifted today,
I must buy a new hat.

The night is nearly over.
A new dawn is about break.
Be aware! The Lord is coming!
Get ready stay awake!

Don't waste another minute.
Don't squander precious time.
Your salvation is nigh upon you.
Death's sting to life sublime.

So set your mind on what is coming.
All else is going to pass.
It's how you served and how you loved,
that will forever last.

Cause the night is nearly over.
A new dawn is about to break.
Be aware the Lord is coming!
Get ready! Stay Awake!
