Though I ain't a cordon bleu chef as the title might imply,
I can still whip up gourmet fare in the blink of an eye!
And to an oven or a fryin' pan I need not be a slave,
As long I can open cans and boxes and use my microwave!
No need for me to spend hours cookin' on languid afternoons,
Makin' a mess with spatulas, blenders and tablespoons.
I can simply open a box and fix Kraft's macaroni and cheese,
Or thaw Marie Callender's lasagna from a carton in a breeze!
Ah, the variety of Campbell's soups I can extract from a tin,
All prepared to perfection, not too thick and not too thin.
Doesn't take me long to create a scrumptious mulligan stew -
Just open a can of Dinty Moore and heat it up is all I do!
I never bother makin' vanilla waffles anymore from scratch,
When I can thaw Eggo things from a box and enjoy a tasty batch!
Thanks to my handy microwave I can fix Sara Lee frozen pies -
I didn't bake 'em but my gullible guests think otherwise!
My side kick Chef Boy-r-Dee and I make a fine spaghetti,
And also unrivaled ravioli, tortelline and capelleti!
I'm always happy to share with others the secret of my success,
And the proper presentation of fine cuisine with panache and finesse!
Entry for Lewis Raynes' "I Love Food" Contest)
Love is not a volatile shallow stream,
There's whirlpool of passion and zeal within;
Liking is not love or vice versa seem,
Love is its sole kind; love alone can win;
Love can be concern, union, emotion,
Affection, evaluation, tight-bond,
Ready, even to sacrifice one's self;
With these, love moves like a locomotion;
There are, often, hopes that look like mere fond,
Love, like its name, contains all in itself...!
Love, I could feel, is reciprocity,
Give-and-take; take and give; joy overflows;
Wherever there seems an atrocity,
Though be alone, love stands and does oppose;
Love is not merely a flesh-blood substance,
It's heart-piercing ardor-filled fine feeling,
Love is greatest of divine fellowship;
Though, at times, it does things in reluctance,
Owing lack of therapeutic healing,
Conviction-filled duties, love does not skip...!
Love bestows values of every nature,
Love lets revaluation of values;
Love is love's unrivaled nomenclature,
Whatever is not love, love devalues;
None knows where did and does this love come from,
Do tempests bring this here on endless earth?
Do volcanoes and tsunamis accord?
When hostilities turn me wholly numb,
When inertia finds its dearth of mirth,
Love and love could be the only concord...!!!

Bronwyn the Barbaric was a buxom lass
the envy of all her peers
She spoke with unrivaled swashbuckling sass
her pirate-ess fashion was fierce
She could charm off the arms of the most hardened men
how they'd swoon at the sight of her swagger
She ruled over cutthroats with a dangerous grin
her hand ever over her dagger
But her smile was so lovely, her style was so vogue
that she had little need for such violence
With a wave of her hand, she could tame ruthless rogues
with a look she could cause utter silence
So, peacefully she plundered (with minions to pillage
and devotedly obey her commands)
Until a shop window caught her eye in the village
and she made a bad purchase, unplanned
There she acquired the most dashing high-heel boots
custom made (according to her wishes)
But the pain that they caused was something acute
and it made the 'old girl' act quite vicious
She kidnapped the cobbler and tortured him so
she was in quite a terrible temper
She dealt him such cruel and merciless blows
the crew could hardly handle his whimpers
She became a tyrannical, treacherous wench
terrorizing from Tahiti to Tangier
Leaving in her wake only ruins and stench
with a reckless and wicked sneer
And 'though her crew were not a cowardly lot
they dared not get on her bad side
The last scalawag was both stabbed and shot
before she tossed him into the tide
But one rakish mate had an interesting offer
her vanity couldn't refuse-
If he could, just once, get those stylish boots off her
a better set he could produce
So eyeing him, slowly, she peeled the boots off
and immediately felt such relief
Gone was her bitterness, her angry scoff
gone was the source of her grief
Seeing their pirate queen herself again
the crew gathered 'round and they cheered
Those bloody boots were thrown overboard
and their mate was quite revered
Now a barefoot buccaneer, she still
struts across the deck
And if they don't bend to her will
she'll see they're put in check!
the Heart wants what it wants
~
Individualistic unrivaled wants
Tempting desires into needs
Defying the mind its logistics
Reinventing discarded feelings
Unto someone / something new
Hand in hand - words & action
How far-off will "delusion" go
How slow will integrity show
Rigid essence of the person
In morality & their principals
The once frowned upon red
Has now been flagged green
Do away the self-abiding rules
Based on likeability & the who
See red and only logic will reign
See green & everything's serene
The sure way to its death is passion
And lack in continued preservation
Eventful ache or a new resurrection
The heart's desire its only sanction
Serenading voices of snow geese thrum in the morning sky
Unrivaled is the clangor of their echoed gabbles in October
Songs of Fall ride on the wind as russet leaves begin to fly
Unrobed are trees; stripped bare, looking bereft and sober
Ripened are amethyst crops of corn and grains in the field
Rivaled by a soft golden glow of the gibbous harvest moon
Undeniably beautiful, when in October its glow is revealed
Seduced by its romantic luminance, lovers kiss and swoon
On All Hallow's Eve, I see scary costumed trick-or-treaters
Feasting on candy given by generous household greeters
Ode to October, there's a chill aloft, whispering in the air
Conspiring with Mother Nature in such a glorious season
This pleasant month arrives with a stir of festive fanfare
Offering a kaleidoscope of colors, and with good reason ~
Brushes in artists hands paint landscapes of Autumn days
Eagerly, I welcome those dazzling hues that seem to blaze
Rife with splendid riches, I chant October's songs of praise

"recently scenes of early life have stolen into my mind, like breezes blown ..."
Quote by _Samuel Taylor Coleridge
The sun rose soon, that day, for an unmatched deal.
I went to a park to muse paternity.
That day, I felt proud and scared. The path ordeal.
Thrive in the way of wild soul modernity.
A concept follows a thriving mood of hope.
People who swell their worth flaunt perversity.
The baby's eyes are soft since they lack a scope.
I'm in awe of our son's sense of compassion.
He proved faith beyond the zenith and the slope.
I praised my youngster's unrivaled dispassion.
I kissed his forehead and cheek as he faced me.
At first glance, our kid has a sublime passion.
You swap as you grasp that God's bliss is the key.
Of bright life gifts, no matter how wide or tall,
Having you as a son, a prime gift to see.
I recall telling you our truths in a drawl,
Playing cards and watching movies was grand fun,
Include eat-outs, pleasure, and watching football.
Or play video games together and run,
They were fun, eating and chatting about school,
I'll never skip those moments when the wheel spun.
I'd crave to ween of you in the swimming pool.
I wish to grasp how our nation was too cool.

Your words illumine flecks of gold
like letters from an ancient rune,
not something grown, nor bought, nor sold,
but magical, like stars and moon
Watched carefully, with minds aware
that we enjoy the self-same view
of bursting star-winks, here and there:
"that's ME, My Love, and THERE—that's YOU!"
I laud the sky and hope you hear
from down the lane, though worlds apart,
the thoughts I voice to hold you near,
if not in sight, within my heart.
If this implored request is heard
and heaven honors wishes sent,
then every letter, every word
and every rhyme or heartbeat spent,
will raise your patient star to shine.
Unrivaled beams in fullest glow,
enchanting other lives like mine
with such a spark that all will know.
The warmth of you, a simple soul,
immersed within complexity;
for those like you become the goal
of love-lorn poets just like me.

You, my homeland
Are of a beauty unrivaled
From one coast to the other
Your plains and rolling hills and pointy peaks
Cry to the heavens of freedom
Your jagged coasts and sandy keys
Offer the arms of welcome and opportunity to the world
And teem with the gifts of the oceans
Lakes and rivers and streams
Born with purity in the snow-crusted mountains
Are the lifeblood of the people
Bubbling with earth's finest bounty
And carrying the breath of all creation on their backs
From cities bulging with people
To a wilderness, untouched and untamed
You are the envy of the earth
And the bosom of liberty
America.
I live here
In the United States
Yes, I'm proud
Proud of where I live
Blessed to have been born in a place
Where I can chase a dream
Where I can speak my mind without fear of punishment or death
Worship, (or not), in the way I choose
Get healthcare, schooling, and assistance in a number of ways
Learn to drive and get a license when I reached 15
Vote at age 18 in a democratic process
And follow the interests I decide on, freely
These are extraordinary things
When you think of the restrictions
Of much of the rest of the world
I was taught from an early age not to take these things for granted
And that many of my opportunities and rights
Had been paid and fought for
By the energies and lives of our people in military service
I'm thankful for that
Whatever others may say, to me this is the greatest country
We are usually the first to be called upon
When another country needs help
And usually the first to respond, in any way we can
But we are also the largest target
And take much of the blame for negative things that happen
No matter where it is
And yes, that bothers me.
There IS no perfect place, and certainly not this
But it is a land of freedom and opportunity
And people move here from all over the world for those reasons
I was blessed to be born when I was -
When a kid could go for a walk and not end up on a milk carton
But I was even MORE blessed to be born WHERE I was
And I thank the heavens every day
That I am an American.
How do you feel today, my love hidden in the veil of forgetting?
In the long nights when sleep refuses to fall on your eyelashes?
Tight in your heart, by which memory are you now surprised,
How many shadows of mine are now reflected in the mirror of your thoughts?
Have the paths brought a breath of the past,
Of uncertain steps, yet enchanted by greatness?
How does your being pulse, an uninhabited love,
When you are loaded with the burden of silent writhing?
What face do I wear today, unrivaled mirror?
Upon which walls of forgetting have you placed me?
Why do you seem marked by sadness,
When once our gestures interwove songs?
Why do we carry this heavy loneliness,
Like a cross on each new day?
When you are the nomad and I the citadel,
Where dream and reality meet to provide you shelter?
Why do you now seem foreign and lost,
Why do you walk heavily and without a song,
When for you, life has been drawn,
And for me, you are the final note of love?
What are you doing today, floaty spirit on the tide?
In which anchor do you find the calm of my face?
Do you capture the storm of my soul,
Scattering it across distances, as a gift to other realms?
What are you doing today, my miracle of yesterday?
How do you live in shards of lost thoughts,
Beyond walls of silence and fresh beginnings,
When your eyes drink from entire galaxies, emboldened by your tears that dance?
