A Politician's Diary
Standing for them, myself I see
Oblivious of that, for me they all agree
To myself, why sweat for them?
No consanguinity gives room for mayhem
Unabashed, I am, egocentric,
undaunted, I am eccentric,
Audacious, I am covetous,
In my trade, I have to be callous
In their dying need, I stand apathetic
oblivious of that, they think am sympathetic,
while squabbling over the meagre food,
oh!! how I bathe in my lassitude.
Transcend not in this hit and go
I may as well be Othello
In my trade, am void of magnanimity,
In dialogue am in destitute of veracity
Few can call me altruistic
and deep inside, I know am not patriotic
My conscience has travelled
That's why in my trade, am unrivaled.
