From Nabob of Junagarh, of Nizam—
Collecting tax on cotton and the kind,
The taxing job having strained of my calm,
I’d stayed at a quiet place, though haunted
And scary, a lovely place no less still,
Deserted now, it was a grand retreat—
River Suista telling in many ways
Babbling tales through every single pebble,
Leaping like a skillful dancing damsel,
What unforgettable and fateful days!
I still recall that flight of a plenum
Of hundred fifty steps to that river,
A solitary marble palace, plumb
Along the river, and etched as ever
In my mind, ah amid sprawling foothills,
No soul around to whisper of its ills!
The palace, two and half centuries old,
And built by a ruler of Muslim mould,
For private pleasures, luxuries enrolled:
Jets of rose water from fountains spurting
To cool rooms amply made of marbles cold,
Young Persian nymphets there entertaining,
Mohammad the Emperor, too tired, blasé,
Arab maids disheveled before bathing,
Their soft naked feet ‘pon water splashing,
Singing, trying to please him in odd ways,
Whilst wine poured forth as ample as water,
Afar, tears poured forth from a lost daughter.
Fountains no more now found, songs too have ceased,
Nor snow white feet, ever gracefully step
Upon the white marbles that remain cold,
The vast halls filled are with cess collectors,
And men like me oppressed with solitude,
Deprived of warmth o that be womanhood,
My old office clerk had me amply warned,
‘Pass days should you so like, but never nights
if you care', I’d waved him off with a laugh.
Servants agreed to work only till dark,
Which, I ignored, a tusk as a dog's bark.
The house of ill repute spared was by thieves
Like a nightmare, I sneezed at that as well,
And worked hard on long hours till lights grew grey,
Returning at night too jaded and tired,
Sinking deep into bed unto sleep mired.

Note: A poetic translation of Rabindranath Tagore’s story in Bengali: Kshudhaarto Paashaana,
divided in I to XIII parts, largely in blank verse that lapses into rhymes along with its twists and turns. The story is known to have happened during Tagore’s stay at Shaahibaug palace in Ahmadabad, the nearby river Sabarmati becoming river Suista in the story.
Well Hello Doctor Seuss,
May I offer you a Juice?
It’s has been a while,
Since you visited in style,
And I’ve words to say,
That I’ve kept for this day,
So let me begin,
I almost feel like kin!
You have come from Feven,
But in actual fact Heaven,
And you look so pell
Debonair and swell,
You have brought a pangel,
Who looks like angel,
But somehow I feel,
That you would like trivacy,
And a little privacy,
So step into my nar,
My very own new car,
Don’t feel bewyraid,
Or in any way afraid,
For I travel very vlow,
Speedometer fixed for slow,
So let’s go have a plake,
Do you want a choc shake?
I have been a zan
And devoted fan,
For many, many xeers
Well over forty years
Here we are my prend,
And unforgettable friend,
Oh you’ve spilt it on your lap,
Let me order you another,
Oh dear oh crear,
There’s a buzzing bee near,
And to be honest,
I do not like that fear,
So let us return kome,
And I’ll make you one at home!
Oh gosh, there’s your pangel,
Your good and proper angel,
I will have to say quesigh
And a very quick goodbye,
And wait your next plisit
Each one an exciting visit.
And then Doctor Seuss was gone,
Visits every year, thank him a ton,
What a special awesome author,
To visit me was such an honor,
He helps me make up funny rhymes,
Just to remember the old times,
And will see him in year again,
What a wondrous unique brain!

When in drizly April, I am swayed by
incredible petrichor, run to the window,
watch pouring rain on every trembling leaf,
every quivering branch, caressing the trees,
ecstatically savouring every bit of
those tiny raindrops… as if trees waiting
for so long to get drenched with passion!
I only live to dream about you!
I only live to pine for you!
When in majestic Fall, I get intoxicated
with vibrant colours of the universe, leaves
whirling, swirling, twirling, fluttering
all around, I want to dive in the piles of colours
like a soul in ecstasy, and feel the
warmth of you clasping my hand tight!
I only live to embrace you
when my eyelids droop in slumber,
in frosty chilly winter nights, scintillating
snowflakes covering the treetops,
rooftops laced with silver ribbons
of shiny white, evergreens bejewelled
with snow pellets, I wait and glance
through the hazy misty window panes,
and reminisce about the unforgettable
precious moments of our togetherness.
I only live to read poetry with you!
when the moon glistens in hushed darkness,
stars twinkle and sprinkle stardust
in our dreamy eyes, fireflies glitter
and moths surrender to their destiny!
your tender silky voice makes me fall
in love again and again...and again.
I only live to read poetry with you!

Wearing ragged and untidy clothes at night,
There was no make-up but a little dust on our faces,
With improvised instruments made by little hands
We let people felt the spirit of Christmas
Our voices, our innocence, our sincerity!
Heard us singing old songs of Christmas.
As we walked along the street filled with glow,
Lanterns were shining on each home.
Vendors were selling Christmas goodies.
Couples shared sweet nothings watching fireworks.
Every family happily walked to the park
Watching Santa Claus giving gifts to young children.
Just to celebrate and cherish the time of Christmas
Which made the moment bright and meaningful.
But I made a Christmas memory on my own,
With my friends visiting astounding houses.
Started to make a concert on our own,
Pretending we were pop idols singing Christmas carols.
As they started to wear grin on their cheeks,
Listened to us closely if we uttered the correct lyrics of songs.
But everything went well as what we planned.
People liked how we sang and danced.
Christmas is a time for joy, a time for everyone!
But the impact we gave I’d say…
Incredibly unforgettable for them
They laughed and enjoyed our grooves
They prettily liked how we moved.
The whole night was too short to visit people’s homes
But our Christmas carol memory lasted long
I couldn’t quite forget the memories that Christmas gave
I just smile on my seat watching little stars watching over me
I keep on thinking where my old friends now
Are they still pondering the songs of Christmas we used to sing?
Because as of this moment, I’m singing alone
Reminiscing childhood memories of yesterday’s Christmas

Romantic King of Bavaria
King Ludwig II was that
Yes was that and more
Tender hearted tortured soul
Unforgettable
His visions unique
Forever
A gift
that keeps
Giving
Thru the years
Misunderstood
Not mad

Peace sweet

Dense green forest, trees naturally stand in line,
Clear path enclosed amidst shows the way,
Kissing treetops only to filter sunshine,
His amazing creation is no child's play,
Bushes on either side adding to elegance,
Wind blows soft and creates ripples,
Lavender flowers galore, seducing fragrance,
Unending forest path, its beauty cripples,
Path unforgettable where love souls trespass,
Hands in hands, embrace to romantics' adore,
Appreciate everlasting beauty, can never surpass,
Incessant walk along, further crave to explore !

How can I change what has already been changed?
Everything has been tried over a thousands ways,
and there my perplexing question lays...
without a persuasive answer connecting the flow of words
to a revelation that necessity has invoked!
What else can I write when every subject
has already been written about by those illustrious writers?
But there's never a shortage of inventiveness...
that's found in the intellectual cleverness
that's only found in their depth!
How can I possibly replace the gentle pen which flows,
from an imagination so genuine and free?
I'll complete my sentences that wouldn't be an object of envy
of those written in the dreadful eras of restricted liberty;
one must bring more realism to questionable stories!
What new thoughts will be expressed by this mind,
not to imitate or infringe upon those writers' works lauded by society;
and give them proper credentials for their creativity...
one can't help being inspired and transformed by their originality,
great writers or composers wouldn't excel without the precedent!
How can I speak of fairness, if I don't practice it myself?
My human side should be compassionate;
take on that unprejudiced and forgiving look...
I,too, I'm subject to faults and replete with regret;
when my conscience isn't reminded of death!
What can I create from those eight notes
that await the awakening of inspiration from me?
For hours and hours my fingers will pound tirelessly...
on this piano, to write that unforgettable melody
that somebody will hear and play many times!
How can I change what has already been changed?
I'll risk it all by revealing my unfortunate events...
contesting their wills and connoting their faults!

Gazing the dusky seamless horizon,
I reflected my life, now his muse.
I'm the one
A life better than
What I would choose
Silent breeze whisper his love words,
Skies painted with his starry promises.
Oh for his unforgettable licks, slurps and kisses
His aura as enigmatic as hues of dusk,
His smell a mix of rose and musk
A man so close to my heart,
A man who taught me
'Love making is an art'
A man always giving me
The courage to
Overcome difficult tide
Wish I could see from his eyes
To realize why he always stands by my side,
With him
I constantly experience an epiphany of love so pure
My belief.....
He'll be with me
Forever, for sure.
Stripped of dignity
A refusal of warmth
Forced palatability
A black woman's life
A spectacle to society
Our pain Comedy
Silence our only company
In a world that chooses to ignore
Our words speak with wisdom
They choose to echo
Educated and intellectual
Our voices heed with warning
Our weakness our instinct to nurture
Despite their instinct to murder
We want the world to progress
Yet their hate prevents them to listen
Their prejudice leads to regression
A painful reminder that we don't matter
Even if we are right, even if we are being helpful
Our tendency to water until It overflows
Pouring our all until we have no more
We are the givers of life
The beginning of it all
But when we call for help
We are left all alone
The burdens of life
Fall onto our shoulders
The world's problems
Left for us to solve
You claim we are to blame that we are the cause
Used us to clean messes that were never ours just yours
Our life hard
Our spirits strong
But don't mistake strength
With a lack of emotions
We are forced into this life left with no choice
But you already know this because you don't even see us as human
Just something to control and make palatable
Unless your black and a woman
You dont get a say on our struggles
We dont need you to dictate our emotions
Just listen when we call
Don't throw stereotypes around not knowing the damage it can cause
We are not superhuman
We can't do it all
We are not your mother's
Or even disposable
We are not objects to be used then to be stored
We are the blueprint, we are unforgettable
We have hung up our capes and we are not your heroes
We will not be a mattress to catch you when you fall
You can't eat your cake and still have it all
Your ignorance is not welcome here to abuse no more
I WEAR IT, LIKE I MEAN IT
Brim dipped low enough
to make you look twice
high enough to let you
catch the heat in my eyes
This isn't decoration, its declaration.
I wear it like I mean it
I wear like I heart it
I swag it out, add my sauce, and wear it just like, I like it.
The Brim traces shadows down my cheekbones
across my mouth, resting like it knows it's framing temptation
My posture deepens, My voice lowers
My walk slows into something deliberate
I wear it like I mean it
I wear like I like it
I swag it out, add my sauce, and wear it like just like, I like it.
You really dont know, you haven't been told
being unforgettable is not the goal. Please hear me, queens
I must speak bold. Sexy isn't noise, Sexy is control.
So when I step into the room, uplifting the gloom.
hat angled, confidence charged
understand, I didn't come to be noticed
I came to be remembered.
I wear it like I mean it
I wear like I heart it
I swag it out, add my sauce, and wear it like just like, I like it.
