She Opened Her Eyes

She Opened Her Eyes

She passed the three gates of:
truth, doubt then honesty:

She was lost.
Was she lost?
Lost was she!

It was September, a rare, red robin
bobbin on the limb of a branch.
A click of her fickle fingers,
a flash of feather and it vanished.
She should have been born a robin;
one flick of a fidgeting fingernail
and she would have evaported too.

She was alone on waters of calm;
alone on storms of turbulence…unchaperoned!
Her vision blurred, her thoughts unclear,
unsure of the next step on life’s undulating path.
Out of kilter, out of sequence, out of tune
but she’d always preferred a subordinate role;
slightly blurred was always best for her.

Then, once again, a stranger drifted around her,
wearing attraction like a favoured jacket,
personality spraying intensely from him;
control at his lingering, fingering tips.
In time she handed him her vulnerability,
proffering up her fragile heart
which had been reblown in glass.

Here she was again, swallowed by dominance
until strength of moral direction anaesthetized his toxicity.
Hope now swam serenely, calmly beside her
so, she opened her eyes and rode a wave of opportunity
where her future beckoned in a new direction.
Finally, she had discovered her true self,
contended she passed through the three gates again:

She was thankfully.
Was she thankfully?
Thankful was she!

Premium Member Let The Butterflies Come

Onyx clouds of failed love
Floating away in sunburned horizon

Ribbons of light
Rainbows so bright
Gently inspire new views

Gone are acid rain puddles
Of teal toxicity
And neon narcissism

As new refreshing love
Like warm white water is welcomed

Flowing from sky into
My life like baptizing hearts
And hydrating larks in the bird bath
Love from Mother Nature
Encourages cycle of life
For plants and all creatures

Just beyond a snowlike field of dandelions
a green caterpillar munches on leaves
Could be its dreams fill his belly
sprouting wings with which it will fly
Much like dreams of romance
creating butterflies in my belly
Filling my soul with gold hope…
let the butterflies come

Thankful And Even More Grateful

Thank you for my gratitude
I think of all the things you do
I think of all the things I have
I think of all the things I am

I am grateful for every time I’m sad
I am thankful for all the things, even the bad
Happy to have things that make me glad
Glad to have the things that make me mad

The fall, the leaves
All the colors within the trees
The rainy storms
That aren’t as warm

The peace paired with the chaos
Silence amongst the sound
Growth in every struggle
All the things that make this world go round

For all the wonderful opportunities
Leaving heartfelt memories
All of the beautiful families
The unity found in our diversities

I am thankful for my rage and hate
For all of my pain coursing through my veins
The anxious wreck sprouting from my worry
My nervous response that makes me scurry
All the bad that steers me to insanity
Because with all the toxicity and insecurities
That stems from somewhere deep within me
Creates all of my beauties
My resilience, my confidence
And all of my bravery
It is what makes me strong
It is how I find my positivity

I am grateful for every experience
Even the worst ones to have ever had
That is what shapes who I am
And who I have yet to become

So bring on every obstacle you can
Because I will conquer and embrace
Not a single one I’d want to erase
I will accept and learn from every mistake
And no matter what I will not break
Because I look at the life I have today
I see how far I have come since yesterday
I look at all the things I’ve got going for me
And realize I wouldn’t want it any other way
There is not a single thing I wish to change
Because I love everything about today
And that's not possible without all of my yesterdays

Saint Michaels War Prayer

The sound of heavy jaws munching -
an angelic weeping,
the crack of delicate wing bones.

Earlier, a listless sky trailed shreds of fear
the goodly being dragged into red cave-mouths.

"My angelica are grounded tonight," he thought.
The mechanical grinding of molars continued.
My seraphim and cherubim, all the innocence
Of long forgiven souls are in peril.

A guttural cackling rises from backyards,
from asphalt parks, and vacant lots.
The gloriously burnished, armored archangel
stands among the trash cans, great sword
held brightly aloft.

"When dawn comes creeping
this insane demonic laughter will cease,
the downed souls will rise again,
minus a few fine bones.

The tears of the half-chewed will burn
all those that prey upon them.
The demented evil doers will suffer the hell
of the dawn’s gastric flux; let them choke upon
the toxicity of our holiness."

Poison

This poison tasted like wine enough to kill my conscious

This fields of medicine I drank myself out of this situation of in-laws my mother zonked herself to be part of
My poison was them, nothing ever killed me like they did

This field of medicine not only caused me to die a deleterious death
This field of medicine killed my womb to birth my own children

This poison!

I employed sectors of poisonous substances for reasons other than toxicity
I employed sectors to destroy my own consciousness

I injected a deadly potion dose to kill myself
I injected a deadly potion to kill and destroy this temple I live in everyday
I wanted to feel numbness

I headed straight to the edge with a slogged mind of this poison I intoxicated myself to sleep through this pain I was feeling

To my surprise
I laid awake in mind
I laid awake in mind with no sets of my body moving

That was never a dream, was it?

I dosed off my conscious with this poison I drank

Toxic Relationship

Both of them name-call each other,
never seems to end...
It's food to them; they feed on it,
this heedless, thoughtless trend.

You are so fat just like a beached whale,
you are such a loser, you always seem to fail.
Told you-your so fat, why don't you lose some weight?,
you say this cause you're skinny stick, understandable you hate.
Why do you say this- you are a silly pea-brain,
you're stark raving lunatic and nothing but a pain.
Hopeless and so lazy- why don't you get a job,
a dime a dozen, now shut your garbage gob !

Always at each other whilst toxicity a-blotches,
yet, baby can't say anything though hears it all and watches.

The Ranch Hand's Babies, Part 3 of 3

(When the true toxicity of Agent Orange
was finally comprehended, the Johnson
Administration could think of nothing
better to do than simply dump the
chemical on a chain of Pacific islands,
where it sits today. Ironically, the
place is named "Johnson's Reef".)

Johnson's Reef

This nasty gunge
is worse than nukes.
It's carcinogenic.
(Ask the gooks!)
Let's put it some place
idyllic, scenic,
far away in outer space.

Stick it on some island chain
where, if it starts to leak and stain,
we're buffered by
the wide Pacific.

Careful with that rotting crate.
Gently does it. Way to go.
Just leave it on the beach.
Where could it reach?
Who knows? Let's blow.
Which way's The States?

Premium Member Love Has Everything To Do With It

A choice to not be selfish
Never demanding its own way

To effortlessly take the high road
Forgiving even what it cannot forget

Giving without a need for reciprocation
To not take notes or keep records of wrongs

It prefers to take the blame and walk away sad
than to be glad and honored while others hurt

Not having to be blind to love all kind, all the time
Being happy about the accomplishments of others

So powerful that it does not have to be loved to keep on loving
Appreciative for the foundations laid for its success and welfare

Non-controlling, never binding, nonlethal, toxicity free, eagle-soaring freedom
Super glue, the 'no-slip hands' that hold you, me, and EVERYTHING together

Castings

casting away all pieces and parts
of an existence full of casual talk
of board rooms full of rage
lost bodies in burning classrooms

full of philosophy and apathy
on foolish babble on time
lost and found morality
memories based on foundations
of aimless travels
looking skyward

casting thoughts incalculable
emotions of love
hate or disdain, unimaginable
full of the rage n pain
playing the blame game
who are we to say

rooms full of empty views
the apathetic feuds
glass shards, crack
crazy crystalline harts
like falling cards or raining stars
as bodies burn in lethargy

casting stones into the ocean of tranquility
small are the thoughts that ripple large
reflections hard as yesterday’s tomorrow insane

cast away photos in a scrapbook of memories
pieces n parts of arcane life, disregard
full of white rooms and silent storms
staring into the mouth of madness

casting all way the pieces
parts of an existence full of casual talk
in classrooms of apathy n despair

watching burning bodies sitting
in boardrooms full of misery
looking into a city, feeling its toxicity

counting the bloody beads of a rosary
