Premium Member The Dreadful Mourn

I'm a Piketown son who left his mum
To sail the eastern shores
Spent a year in Gloucester
'mong the barkeeps and the whores

Then a man came 'round to Gloucester town
Said boys I need a few
Strapping lads such as yourselves
To join me whalin' crew

The pay is mighty lowly and
The work'll break yer backs
But if ye crave adventure, men
You'll ne'er get a better chance

Those who'd go out wi' me, lads
Prepare ta leave at dawn
There's a whaler at the dockside
She's called the Dreadful Mourn

Ho! Called I to Captain Frye
My services you've bought
I've traveled here from Piketown
To earn a tale heart'ly wrought

Aye, me lad then ye shall have
A yarn ta spin yer sons
So join me on the Dreadful Mourn
'Ere long's the risin' sun

I nodded Aye to Captain Frye
Then turned to swig my ale
When a man appeared beside me
And pulled up to the rail

He shook his head and then he said
His offer you should spurn
There was another Frye set out
Yet ne'er did he return

This other Frye for he was kin
Of the Captain now about
That fortune on their family frowns
Of that there is no doubt

I turned to the stranger, smiled
Said thank you for the warn
Then headed down the gangway
Out to the Dreadful Mourn

For weeks on end I coiled the ropes
Boiled the oil and pulled the line
Though it was grueling labor
I was feelin' pretty fine

But the winds they soon blew colder
And the ship began to slow
The Captain said don't worry men,
This is how the whales go

One day the ice so thickened that
The ship came to a stop
The Captain cried a wild whoop
Boys I think I've found the spot!

For 'twas about this latitude
Where me brother's ship was lost
And now I've come ta bring him home
No matter what the cost!

Sorry I lied ta ye lads
I blame ye not for yer ire
Now calm ye selves, we've work ta do
Afore we can retire

Of course you know we would not go
Along with his plan
The crew decided mutiny
Right down to the last man

For Captain Frye's madness
We must pay an awful price
But he would join his brother
As a ghost beneath the ice

The ship was stuck, the stores near out
'Twas nothing left to do
'Cept sing a sailin' shanty
And toast the Dreadful crew

So I took a final dram of rum,
Cursed the day that I was born
And lay down to my icy fate
Aboard the Dreadful Mourn

Society Cherished Child

When does a child become society’s child?
Some children are forced out of being children
Some are put back into children mode which is hard
The fact that this happens is because of parents not thinking
The parents either separated, divorce, or worst case died
When a child is faced with this it is hardship it can’t recognize
When a child either lost or got separated from parents, why?
That’s when society takes the child and moves them
But at that moment of time the child does not understand
Children are forced to rely on their own thoughts and Idea
Which is very young and not as factual, but they still know
The child has to grow up fast, its just nature its protection
The growth of emotion excels beyond a child that has parents
The point that I am making is that the child needs the adult
The symbolic of guardian, safe, reliable, kind, lovable, informational
The problem I am going to explain is that it is not always there
Children that grow fast, has fifty, fifty chance of growing normal
But adults are to blame after taking this chance of mentoring
Sometimes the adult belief is that they are too young to know
But it’s not that, the problem is growth of emotion and idea
Without limitation that they can see in front of them
Children out grow their physical body in mentality
Parents is the key to limiting the emotional growth of a child
There is no doubt that fostering and adoption has been great
But this does not solve all the pain and sorrow that the child has
It is bottled in there soul, I do not know how to heal that yet
But in theory loving them and showing them gentleness
Is what they need, but Society does not have room some times
Because of this children that has parents still have problem
It’s needs to be known that parents should even go to classes
To have a child is to have knowledge of the child expectations
Society gives lots to parents that need it, but they need education
If a person wants a child they should at least go to class
Once or twice a year to see what motivates them to have the child
It is not always money; it is friendship, love, care, and the need
Humanity is always looking to get closer to each other
This includes children who do not have parents, singled out
Society is made of people and people who do not have a child
Well, they should be able to foster one or adopt.

Premium Member Dancing With the Stars

The air is filled with love and peace
There is no darkness or sadness or grief
There is no need for worry – no police
The heart isn’t heavy – souls feel such relief

The light in the heavens shines like the sun
Pouring out joy that covers every thought
The celebration in heaven has only just begun
Hearts are excited, glowing brilliant as they ought

There is an elation in the spirit as it trembles
Remembering the birth that brought souls to life
To live here in this place that God Himself assembles
Created by the One who made us all, without strife

The feelings are such a blessing, always tender
Filling souls with kindness, warmth and serenity
Finding ways to say, “Merry Christmas” with splendor
Assuring lives they will always live in sweet amenity

The mind remembers all the Christmas’ spent on earth
Feels a twinge of affection for those who are missing
But, then – is reassured by the hand of God, which is worth
More than millions or zillions – more than reminiscing

There is a freedom in this place beyond heaven’s gates
Assurance that love will always win – conquering even death
In this heavenly home, there are those who God creates
For the purpose of giving love that dances through each breath

The reason that heaven knows each one is worth so much
Is that Jesus Himself came to us – during Christmas dreams
Showing hearts and souls that He is still the light who will touch
Lives with a love that glows and shows He goes to extremes…

Like dying on a cross and rising again – saving the world
From this place of darkness, this nightmare – torment
Redeeming hearts so they can dance – being freely whirled
Away from the dark, into the light, where they’re always content

Christmas in heaven is alive with things like joy, hope and peace
But there is no doubt, His suffering is being displayed in the soul
As reminders of all He has given, all that He has been – let Him increase
So that everywhere, everyone can feel the love that makes us whole

This Christmas in heaven – I hope that the angels can see
The way that Jesus is adored and loved by those He set free

His love, like a candle fighting the wind –
Silent, vibrant, in hues of glistening faith,
Whispering insight through a gentle flame,
Caressing the spirit with a beautiful that remains
The reflection of hope, peace and grace –
Promising wonders within the heart and soul,
Where it is so easy to see the heavens…

Shimmering through the raindrops, the dew
Like a murmuring brook or a peaceful bloom
In music from the wind’s blowing through the pines,
Mystifying, inviting, stirring up courage inside,
Where there is a music far more alive, far more
Wise, far more insightful than any tune –
This is the song of light falling over the moon,
The harmony of life sighing through the dream,
The blessing of a melody erasing every indignity

Glistening like the stars and moon, the miracles
Of love’s breathe, preparing the soul to smile,
Like a joyful promise, a poem written on the skies
With clouds passing through, remembering the blues
Azure truths, brilliant tunes – sparkling with yearnings,
Blessings so full they remind the one who hears…

The sprinkling of a sunrise – the trembling of a sunset
The dream pouring out faith and hope, love kissing
Away the dark with reflections of light the heart won’t regret,
The wonderful that hope can never forget…

His love, like a candle in the wind – reflecting the beautiful,
Inspiring the music, the poetry, the promise…

Falling over the spirit – like fire flooding the feelings,
This is the blessing of a love far more alive than the breath
That whispers through His caress, His glory, His light
Pouring over the heart and feeding the spirit with assurance
His love is forever and always, never leaving the soul alone,
Doubt will never drown out the wonderful of His grace
Pouring over the one who remembers He is the light, He is the way
He is the answer to every prayer and there is no doubt, He’s always there!

Alive, like the fire burning – the candle soothing…
He is the light, falling over every thought – the burning
The knowing that His love will restore every smile,
Reassure every dream – fulfill every heart….
With a LOVE that ONLY HE CAN GIVE!

His love is the reason my heart is still beating,
The reason my soul is still breathing
And the reason that I keep on believing!

Premium Member I Said I Do

I do not understand the acceptance of what I assume to be a proven fact.
I do not know if it is really true for most men, that they forget 'the vitals'.
I'm speaking of the 'top of the list vital' such as wedding anniversaries*.
How is it possible to forget one of the most important events of our lives?

Anyway, I cannot speak for men, but as for me, I have never forgotten that date. Personally, it entailed an event second only to my acceptance and commitment to Christ. It was during the noon hour on a nice summer Saturday just North of The Windy City. Now, I could understand if my wife wanted to forget about 49 years of marriage with me. I have not been the best person to live with, and she has not been able to change me. I'm not exactly saying that she wanted to, but I cannot imagine it not entering her mind. After all, I am very stubborn, have perfectionist leanings, rather decisive, slightly insensitive, and very opinionated.

Anyway, what I want to say is that my wife is the most loving, kindest, and Godliest person I know. There is no one who cares more about me and what happens to me. I would never have tried, but if I did, I could have never found a wife like mine over the internet. I will always believe that my wife was custom-made by God just for me. I know of no one coming closer to the lady described in The Book of Proverbs 31 than my dear wife.

Oh, did I mention 'cheap'? I must confess that if there is anyone cheaper than me, he should not be allowed to walk the streets of America. In fact, there should be a law against him for his cheapness, because he would be bad for the economy. Even so, my sweet wife loves me just the way I am.

I tell you, my bride believes in me, making me second only to The God in her life whom she loves passionately and serves with boldness. She has always sought the best for me, helping me to reach my full potential. Of this, there is no doubt. Behind this man is a good woman. And there's more......

A Perfect Place

Imagine a land, where worries are no more,
a perfect, beautiful world to explore.
Of evil and wickedness, there is not a trace.
How could you not want to go to such a place?

I have often longed to go, in my dreams,
but truly, it is not as hard as it seems!
Forget everything around you; shut your eyes tight.
Then simply let your imagination take flight.

Lush fields, full of daisies surround you,
Of where you are, you have not a clue.
A peace lies on it, unlike anything you've ever felt before,
you could stay here forever, and you'd never bore.

Gazing at the scenery, you then spot
a glimmering shore, decked with shells and what not.
This looks very inviting, you think at a glance.
Never would you want to miss such a chance!

You hurry to this beach, almost magical and unreal,
and soon you are brimming with zeal.
Children play in the water, beach balls they toss.
Everyone is kind and thoughtful, and no one gets cross.

Perfection outlines itself in this place, so vivid and true!
In a land such as this, how could anyone be blue?
You spend the day, going from scene to scene.
From castles to chocolate emporiums, and everything in between!

Visiting all these attractions, though peaceful and perfect they are,
Is getting a bit overwhelming; you've come quite far!
But you don't want to leave, this is something you can't miss!
It's not every day you get to experience a world such as this.

When you exit the library, you are exhausted in every way.
You want to rest, but you can't stay!
Before you lies many roads, more than you can put numbers to,
each leading in a different attraction, made to interest you.
I scanned the area, not knowing which one to choose,
then I thought what I might lose.

Suddenly, one clear image came to my brain.
There is no doubt about it, I knew which lane
was the right one for me, where I wouldn't have the urge to roam.
That one clear image was the road to go home.

With people I loved, and things I knew.
I realized, this trip has taught me a lesson or two.
Where I am in this world, is right where I need to be.
I don't need beaches or castles to be filled with glee!

Right where I am, I'm fulfilling my destiny.
I shouldn't let anything take that from me!

Whether rich or poor, male or female, slave or free, God has given certain gifts to each of us.

Father knows best how to distribute His gifts and He loves us all. There's no greater choice than for us to put them to their best use. It should not matter whether the endowment to us are large or small. It appears in the parable that God has a low tolerance for an excuse.

There is no doubt that God recognizes and rewards fruitfulness. History shows that God always demonstrates His goodness, but the lesson of 'The Talents Parable' is about faithfulness. God's desire is that we use our gift and share in His happiness.

A Parents Loss

Our son wanted to do his duty so into the military he went.
Working hard and trying not to worry are how our days are spent.
We're very proud of our son in this there is no doubt
But we're really looking forward - to the day that he gets out!

We received a letter from him just the other day.
The fighting picked up and from his unit he did not stray.
Even though he was doing his duty - in his heart we do abide.
In his letter to us - his fears and worries he did confide.

People are dying all around me is what to us he said.
It's hard to turn our minds off when it is time for bed.
What can we do for him from here when we're so far away.
We'll give him words of courage to overcome what may.

Picked up the newspaper to see that soldiers we had lost.
When will people learn that for war - this is the cost?
Wait here just a minute there is a knock upon our door.
We were not yet prepared for what fate had in store.

Two people from the military waited patiently to be let in.
Still in shock and disbelief we went into the den.
Mam we're here to tell you that your son is dead.
He fought very valiantly, and saved his friend instead.

In his pocket was a letter addressed to you.
It may hold words of comfort for you alone to view.
The next few days were busy - as we laid our son to rest.
The letter was forgotten, this war we do detest!

I stumbled upon it in my latest cleaning spree.
He expressed that he was homesick and wanted to be with me.
But he knew he had to finish what he did start.
Even if he was the next to die - knowing this would break our heart.

To all who are listening - know that some must take a stand.
So that we may enjoy the many freedoms of this land.
Know that our kin and loved ones did not die in vain.
And sincerely hope that one day our children - will never know this pain!

Footnote: I wrote this as loosing a son but there are many females in the military and I am sure we have lost many of them as well - just change the pronouns and gender in this poem if it is a daughter you have lost. And my deepest sympathies to all of the parents, families and friends of the families who have actually experienced this type of loss.

The Girl Who Lost But Still Won

As A child she had such big dreams of her life yet to be, oh how sure of that felt she! How she loved to dream though about her perfect prince yet to come, and when that time came she would not be to young. But for now she would sing and dance, until she was old enough to have that chance. Years went by and then one day she realized how from her the time had sprung , and now she was not too young. One day when she was not in the least expecting it , A guy caught her as from A fall she was about to slip. He came from nowhere, and he certainly did not try to even slightly his charm spare. Then one day she felt like he let his charm slip , and for A minute she thought she lost her grip.He knew how to use his words , for her to quickly reassure. As time went on though sometimes she thought she caught A glimpse of something dark, but when she tried to pinpoint it she could not seem to get to its mark. If it was not so then surely it was as if someone had covered up A snake, by making it look like A luscious chocolate cake! Yes this girl wanted it all, oh but how she was going for A fall. She always choose to let the good outweigh the bad, for she really did not like to be sad! She erased the bad from her mind, and went about her life as if she were blind. She looked high up in the sky and saw the sun , but choose to forget the days like rain that did not make her life fun. She just wanted to be happy and have A half full glass, was that too much to ask? But one day she saw him with another girl, and it seemed like the end of her world. The prince just laughed and said, you believed me when I told you that you were the only one, and here I did it just for fun. And you have always believed my words and I just like to play, and you just happened to one day fall in my way. The girl said well I do have one thing to thank you for, even if it seemed to me like A chore. And that is I was given A preview test and you helped me practice so surely there is no doubt anymore, what answers to now look for. And here you thought you took something from me and that from it lost was the score, no that is not true and now I will not fail the test ever......... no not anymore!

It's Time To Change

How did you feel when you woke? Were you frightened or lonely, or was your heart broke?
Do you feel alone or sometimes afraid? Is it clear that your life’s not meeting the grade?
Do you feel uncomfortable in your own skin? Do you feel that you’re losing, but just want
to win?
Are you having remorse about what could have been? If so, then it’s time to grab paper and
pen.
Jot some things down you’d like to achieve. Then read them each day and start to believe.
We cannot go back and change the past! Standing still today, just won’t last.
So get ready, prepare, and take care of your needs. It’s time to firmly plant His seeds.
Start with yourself and the rest will follow. I know right now it’s hard to swallow.
Be gentle and patient, for there is no doubt, you’ve been hurting so long, both inside and
out.
If you know in your heart that something’s askew, you must be willing and ready to start anew!
There’s help for you along the way. You’ll receive it for sure, so start to pray.
Dear God, Please show me where to start. To You, I know I must open my heart.
So say each day, “Thy Will Be Done”, and you’ll see it, I’m sure, but just don’t run.
Be open and willing to hear and see, all that He is calling you to be.
Follow His signs and stay on the road, and when you ask He’ll help bear the load.
Don’t bring excess baggage for this trip. Keep it simple, you see or you just might slip.
You need to remember to stay on track. Once you start, hold nothing back.
For the new road you find is the only way. You’ll get there soon, if you just don’t stray.
Now is the time for discipline and prayer. You’ll start to believe you’re in His care.
As you practice and try to do the right things, you’ll be eager to see what the next day
brings.
Your life will be flooded with joy and gladness, and you’ll know he’s there in times of
sadness.
Life is still life, but just stop and think. Nothing is solved by making a stink!
So put all your worries in God’s hands today! There’s no reason to keep them, let go and
just pray.
I know that miracles do come true. Have faith and His promises will be given to you.
