The Mystery of His Mind and Methods
The mind of man, no one can see, When God made man, He made him free. To think, to choose, how he would act, even his Maker to attack. The mind of God is oh, so vast, His ways our reason can’t forecast. Why He would make man as He did, might be a mystery ever hid. Why would God choose to ask a man, To leave his home, his land, and clan, And travel to an unnamed land In response to His strange command? God pledged to multiply his seed, and through them bless a world in need. His wife was past the age to bear, But God did promise him an heir. At ninety when her womb was dead and her husband was one hundred, she bore to him God’s promised son, through whom God’s will was to be done. Why would God ask this may to slay, His son on an altar cold and grey? The thought of human sacrifice Caused the man’s heart with pain to crack. From his descendants, God did make, a nation great in slavery’s wake. Through his seed, the Messiah came, Emmanuel, his earthly name. Why would God send His Son to die, So that fallen man could live on high? The Father’s heart was racked with pain, As on the cross, His Son was slain. The mystery of God’s love for man, no human mind can ever span. His ways are past our finding out, but that He loves us, there is no doubt.
