caterpillars gorge
metamorphosis begins
translucent blue wings
Written 4th August 2020
My favourite butterfly is the Blue Morpho with a wingspan of almost 21centimeters. I love the idea that butterflies are associated with spiritual transformation ~ their exquisite colours and translucent wings give them an almost ethereal persona as if a beautiful soul has been metamorphosed as it majestically soars towards another life…

In the green countryside of Wales,
A castle sits, dark and decaying,
It holds many ghostly tales,
That the locals keep relaying.
Surrounded by majestic, rolling hillsides,
Covered by a gray, misty shroud,
And cliffs high above the blue sea tides,
Where voices still ring out loud.
What was once a beautiful garden,
Where all the children used to play,
Has been left to whither and harden,
Just as the castle was left to decay.
Long cobwebs hang like curtains of lace,
In windows that remain dark and cold,
Someone still walks the crumbling staircase,
Just as they did in the days of old.
They walk the towers and through the halls,
Making the dusty, wooden floors creak,
Their portraits still hang on the walls,
Where the voices of the dead still speak.
The empty rooms will never make a sound,
But, if you listen hard enough to their history,
Stories of romance and love still abound,
Along with secrets of murders and mystery.

With a hearty laugh, and scallywag's glee
I've acquired their riches, and conquered the sea!
Like a timid lass... they will turn, and flee
showing their backsides, to the likes of me!
Lily livered, they're fearin' my brand!
Shiverin' they be, till they're walking on land!
Arrgg!! shouts first mate, calling out to the crew,
"Tally-ho!" fills me ears, as the chance now ensues
Setting sail in a race, up high on the waves
I spy with my glass, wily cowards to chase
'Tis we, mighty foes, that will ransom the sea!
Mighty bold is me, with me old pirate's creed!
Alas! there he is, what a fool is he!!
To rush into battle with the likes of me!!
Sailin' the waves on the blimey sea
Stung by a sword, the scallywag flees!
How swift he sails, along in the blue..
Yo ho ho! Thar' he be!
He'll be countin' his days, and soon on his knees
A sorry tale, will allot him, his sword just a broom
Me' cross=bone skull is flying wild
and waves a mighty doom!!
I am Blackbeard the Pirate....remember my name!
You will fill up your froth of my flowing fame
You will guzzle ye' grog, or a bit of ye' rum
Yea' ... call me the devil, with a bit of a scum!
Girdled with face of a hundred scars
Fear of me' wrath, either by sun or by stars
It gladdens the heart of a scoundrel like me
You'll best not forget ....tis' a Blackbeard ye' fear!!
She was going, going, going
Going for a song
When I heard that engine running
I knew she was the one
Well how could I resist her
She was sweeter than a song
The price was right, she was going cheap
Yeah’ she was going for a song
I was thinking of the summertime
Thought this soft top could be fun
I didn’t come tyre kicking
No I never haggled with the sum
She was going, going, going
Going for a song
When I heard that engine running
I knew she was the one
Sometimes were not searching
When surprizes come our way
This sporty little classic
Just simply blew me away
Wow’ what a steal I was thrilled
I never expected this
Bargains don’t come everyday
Especially not like this
She was going, going, going
Going for a song
When I heard that engine running
I knew she was the one
She was mint inside and out
Her paint gleaming like the sun
It must have been my lucky day
She still had miles to run
She was on the button
On the money too
Yeah’ she was going for a song
That came right out the blue
She was going, going, going
Going for a song
Yes this motor was a blessing
Always dreamed of owning one

I'm Glinda, the Starman Fairy,
or, if you want, I can be the Blue Fairy from Pinocchio.
I'll be whatever you want me to be,
You paid your consulting fee, so
I'll show up as someone you know.
You've got a pretty nice planet here,
better than my home planet - the nicest one I've ever seen.
I would sure hate for it to disappear.
Oh, the grape, the apple, the tangerine,
fields of wheat, seas of aquamarine.
You're facing an existential threat.
Don't take it from corporations or politicians they enlist,
climate change will get much worse yet.
Check the aliens on my client list.
They say, ask independent scientists.
Your people have created wonderful things -
the Great Pyramids, Taj Mahal, Shakespeare, and Machu Picchu -
and you, too, have nature, from which man springs.
Well, I must depart, and I'll miss it so -
would you be sad to see it go?
In my grief, I shot down stars one by one
I did not stop until my anger was all done
Until the blue sky, was as dark as my soul
Until the universe was one blackened hole
Life became a vacuum, it's suffocating me
I wailed upon the earth like some banshee
I leashed upon others, my tormented soul
To destroy life as we knew it, was my goal
As rains poured until they became storms
Out of the deep rivers came poison foams
I saw all that before me all withered & die
All because my anger would not let me lie
No one given soul could prevent my wrath
As I destroyed all that was within my path
Earthquakes flattened, and shattered land
People dying, but here I was, to still stand
The earth, the skies blackened as my soul
Deeper into that blackness, I dug my hole
"till my grief subsided, I've reached a calm
With nothing left now, within my own palm
Then came upon me a light; shining bright
You sought me out, as brought me to light
The stars returned, came back one by one
When realized just what I had done wrong
I had sold my soul so life could start again
Where I'd suffered in hell for all of my pain
Indiana Shaw . . . -_-
Standing by the lake
So calm and blue
A cool breeze blowing in from Canada
Blue skies above
The sun making glistening diamonds in the waves
It seems so tranquil
Almost inviting me to walk in
I look again
Behind me there is stress and turmoil
Hiding in the trees, weeds and flowers
Below the waves lies eternal rest
The quiet that only Poseidon can provide
I watch the waves lapping onto the shore
Their fantasies draw me closer
Begging me to join them
To be with them
How far could I get
When would the waves envelop me?
Taking me into their darkness
There is no way to know even if they would
I look for a distant shore
But it is not there
I wonder what it would be like
Then I turn away
Looking again at the peaceful water
I walk down the beach
Looking at the blue sky, the white sun
And I see a glimmer of hope
I decide that the waves can wait
The dreaminess of Poseidon’s rest
Can wait for another day
There is always time for a swim
Dreaming sleeplessly
I'm in a deep sleep regardless
Of what you say thotlessly
Damage the distress in progress
You sent me letters and emails
Thank you...I'd like to say Thank You
Every time I walk - five thousand fails
Thank you for not making me blue, boo
In perspective, I'm trying so hard
Yet, I'm still this pathetic bard
I feel and see music
It's so darn epic and enthusiastic
So therapeutic and exquisite like a perfect pic
Flicker the lights on and off
I guess I wasn't enuff
I suppose I like the pain ruff
Hey, be quiet, silent tears that fall from the inside
You can only see my outside
Fading like the atmosphere
The blue and grey waters of the oceanside
Leaves me with no fear,
For I am your chocolate,
Wrapped up in chandeliers of hopes...
Wrapping paper isn't that expensive
But, my love isn't cheap...
Let that sink deep
Get me a ride
By your side,
My beautiful future bride...
Subside from my side afterwards...
I see words and letters backwards...
Dyslexia does drive me nuts...
No if's, and's or but's about it...but I don't hate my guts
I'm becoming the new me
Let me be me and set me free

sky, a cracked porcelain bowl
turned upside down over the city.
sunlight bleeds through cracks~
cumulus bruises bloom
devouring the blue in ragged bites.
pigeon lands on a wet fire escape,
shaking rain from oil-slick feathers.
somewhere, an umbrella turns inside out~
a black flower gasping.
light fractures on puddles~
liquid mercury swallowing
both cloud-shapes and sky-reflection
until the pavement holds
two opposing heavens.
yet in this suspended breath
between deluge and glare,
a single raindrop balances
on a sycamore leaf's spine~
not falling, not holding still,
just trembling
in the indecisive wind.
we call it partly cloudy~
as if existence was binary.
I was standing next to an African swamp the other day
When the wing span of a dynamo spread a shadow my way
It covered my body length, and I was lying down flat.
I said to my husband “What do you think of that?”
“It’s a shoebill stork,” he informed me with a hush.
Don’t excite him, because he will come out of the brush.
The shoebill was at least five foot tall, standing on his feet.
Which intimidated me, as I know shoe bills love to eat.
What do they consume? I asked my husband, worried.
He whispered “lungfish,” and his voice sounded hurried.
The blue gray shoebill began to stare me down right away.
I thought we were both goners on that horrible day!
