I am one breathtaking moment
I am one who is lost or alone
I am one raindrop, or one flowering rose
I am a distant star or a meadow lark
Or one dark cloud that hovers on the horizon
I am many memories from a long ago childhood
I am many tears and many sorrows
I am many rainbows and many seasons
I am many reasons to sing a love song
Or tell a story, or share the laughter, or feel the glory
I am all the colors of our world
I am all races, all creeds, the scattering of seeds
I am all words unfurled into the light
I am all the broken hearts and hopes lost in the night
I am all the hurt, all the anger, all the joy, all the love
I am all who believe in God above
I am all who doubt, thereof
I am all who laugh, and sing, and wail and shout
I am unleashed with wild emotion
I am heartbreak, and devotion
I am humble, I am proud
Soft as a whisper, the shape of a cloud
I am the stepping stone to healing
I renew by sharing feelings
I am a few unbroken rules, a few enchanting jewels
I am the ember, I am the spark
----------- the poet in "me" who dreams in the dark
~
----------- but this is the real "me" who schemes in the dark
I am the neighbor, who brings you soup
I am a tomboy, I am a friend
I'll lend an ear if you are troubled
My favorite food might be ice cream
A double scoop, I beg you please?
I'll bathe the dog, I give good hugs
I rub their backs when they are ill
Good music fills my eyes with tears
Love hula hoops. Loops in my ears
Toss a ball into a hoop and ride a horse, (I have for years)
I like to wear my denim jeans, occasionally I'll wear my lace
Brunette, of hair, my mother's face
I make mistakes....... I won't forsake you
Don't buy me a crown, I'm not a queen
But I am keen on my clean house
I'll not judge you...don't hold a grudge
My husband declares that I'll not budge
But I can make some awesome fudge
I'm small in size......my eyes are blue
I'm not a prize..I'll blow a fuse
I thrive on loving, I'll love you too
And I can fix most things with glue
I can stretch a dime, make old things new
I love antiques and have a few
I've paid my dues.....with ups and downs
One ordinary girl........from one small town
This may be more than you want to know
But that's scoop, ..... I'll say adieu ....!

Premium Member War On the Poor

They wage war on the poor
Selling their souls what for
But for gluttony and greed
Dissension is what they breed
Harmony and discord
A duality we can't afford
People die on the street
Chilled to the bone, no heat
No bread, no bed
So they commit suicide instead
And the system is so corrupt
A melting pot is ready to erupt
Boomers failed the youth
Doomers birthed who know the truth
16.07 is the living wage
But 7.25 has us locked in a cage
And we work hard to line their pockets
Yachts, mansions, pensions, and rockets
Racial tension is their weapon
So we don't collectively unify and step in
They say work hard and achieve American dreams
But the reality is not what it seems
Connections grant privilege to the rich like royalty
As they demand we stand for the flag and show loyalty
I'm tired of being a stepping stone and I'm not alone
And this is what we've been shown
Epstein didn't kill himself we know
Another death to protect those in power and another low
America grows darker by the hour
So in a moment of clarity
There is no peace and prosperity
This is a raw deal and we need a green new deal
Because I'm tired of being a spoke on the wheel
Illiteracy is on the rise and that's our demise
Because they can feed us their lies
They blame us and claim we have no ambition
But survival is the majority's mission
Stuck paycheck to paycheck until we're dead
And those who care get shot in the head
I beg you to put your hand on your chest
Against your beating heart are we doing our best
Laws against sleeping in the car, sleeping on the sidewalk
These don't fix the problem but we can't talk
Because they balk and say you should have done better
Anything to lick the boots of the debtor
But despite all of my rage I'm still just a rat in a cage
Soon to be a forgotten footnote, a faded page
And that wheel is going to keep turning
As American lives go up in flames we're burning
But that hatred is twisting deep inside
And revolution is what we need if I must confide
The system is built on a foundation of failure, it's broken
But our passion and fury has been awoken
For this is our watershed moment to stave off calamity
After discouraging decades of enmity
So if they must wage war on the poor
We'll wage war on a system we abhor

Unfinished Story

The heavens brush by her fingertips
as she reaches for the sky
but her feet stay nailed to the ground
when she stretches past those pearly gates
catching a shooting star in one hand
while grabbing Orion’s belt with her left
to wrap around her waist
when she gets home.
Down she shrinks
until she is the size of a firefly
blinking on and off
to the beat of their hearts.
She smothers her light
as the demons emerge
from the depths of the burnt lake
and they search in the dark
for something to clamp
their steel traps around.
As she is finally found
she is pulled from all sides
by good and bad alike
and only at the break of the sun
when light pours out from two grinning halves
does the tugging on her spider web soul cease.
And the struggling plants fly by her window
as she makes her journey around the world
though it’s only around the block that she flies
for the umpteenth time
and as the clouds decend
to meet her feeble plane
she wishes the land beneath her
didn’t seem quite so far away.
She jumps out, parachute-less
and tries to run away
on those stepping stone puffs of perspiration
to meet her so-called destiny.
But as she is running she is sinking
and the hands she reaches for
only throw stones to build the wall
that she resides within
effectively putting blinders on all five sides.
All she sees are feet pounding air
and now she is jumping
red-tiled rooftop to red-tiled rooftop
a suburban myth in the making.
Sparrows swoop in to chat
sharing their piping hot tea and sympathy with her
but her appetite is destroyed
by the sight of the endless abyss
that stretches out before her
surrounded by the cliff
she now teeters on the edge of
one leg in the air, dancing gracefully
as she tries not to fall.
And as she blindly reaches all around
she realizes that no one is behind her
to grab her waist and save her
so she takes a baby step of faith
and finds the blackness holds.
Already she is walking quickly
so fast she doesn’t realize night is coming
until the stars put lights in her eyes
and the shadowed blue cloaks her shoulders.
But nails don’t pierce a nothing
so tonight she does without
her winking and twinkling accessories
and hopes to anything that’s listening
the demons can’t find her here.

Lost

It’s been a very reasonable day. Just a light shower or two
walking along these country lanes, round each corner, a different view.
But it’s getting late now and darkness will soon be here
there’s a haunting sound from the wood nearby, I hope it’s nothing to fear.
I know I should be thinking of making my way
back
and I really did think I was on the right track.
And yet, wherever I seem to look and wherever I seem to roam
I just can’t seem to find my way back home.

I’ve climbed to some higher ground now, such a wonderful view
I can smell the freshness in the air and in the distance, see my home now too.
But it’s getting cooler and there’s a strange stillness up here
I can almost feel the cold silence, which I hope is nothing to fear.
Now darkness has fallen but in the moon light I can see
a path that I think looks familiar to me.
It leads to a narrow stream, I can cross on a stepping stone
so I can try to find my way back home.

Having waited in the darkness, I can now see in the light dawn brings
I sense all of the beauty of nature around me and I listen as a blackbird sings.
But with the dawn a storm has gathered and above me dark clouds are near
and as the thunder cracks and lightning flashes, I hope there is nothing to fear.
Now I’m feeling lost, tired, wet and cold
and like someone who has suddenly grown old.
And I don’t want to be here in this place, any longer on my own
I just want to find my way back home.

There’s a shaft of light from an open curtain and it’s so bright in my eyes
and the noise from a radio alarm clock catches me by surprise.
As I wake up, the duvet feels warm and comforting against my skin
and there is someone beside me, still sleeping, so I don’t say anything.
I look around me and I know I am home
I’m not really somewhere lost and alone.
And of course I realise things are not really as bad as they seem
for I was lost, but only somewhere in a dream.

Redemption

Quietly I lay, fighting the urge to snatch the life right out of your blackened heart.
I try to resist the wanting desire to end your disgusting, parasitical excuse of a soul,
But I need to make an example of you to show the world my beautiful, deadly art.
It’s time for you to feel the lonely darkness of a six foot deep hole.

You played the jester to my comic tragedy, and now the show is over.
You tried to make me feel frightened and scared,
You are nothing but an unlucky three leaved clover.
You showed the world all my faults, and I stood there cold and bare.

I stood there as you exploited my every error.
I fell to my knees as you humiliated me, demeaning me in front of my peers,
Not knowing of my inner horror, the bottled up anguish and terror.
But by the time I am finished, you shall see the monster you unleashed vividly clear.

You choose your words loosely, insulting all that I am.
You thought your tongue sharp and tried to use it to cut me down.
You thought you could use me as a stepping stone for your feet to stand
To display the comical relieve which you thought I was, while you wore the crown.

I will dethrone this jester of ridiculous rule, taking the happiness he thought he had.
Devouring the insults and using them to cure the wounds of your lashing tongue.
I lay, growing stronger with every tasteless comment that he would laughably add.
Taking you to the pits of hell, watching the orange flames lick your body will be my fun.

It’s time for you to be torn apart by the one you thought was defeated.
I survived your vicious onslaught of degrading puns and ridicule that you tried to slay me with.
You just fired me up for the coming battle that will be the end of you, making sure your statements are not repeated.
I am the legend that everyone will remember, and you are the nothing but a forgettable myth.

It’s time for the silent to make their voice heard, for the self-imposed deaf to widen their ears and hear,
It’s time for the pretenders of blindness to muster up the courage to see, for this will be a sight.
The legend has awakened; it’s time for you to quiver in fear.
You are not ready for this horrific wrath that will redeem my entire plight.

Premium Member Three Teeth

three incisor teeth burst through fresh flesh...
opaque as pearls, strong as love, precious

beautiful baby babbles assertively
mesmerized by mishmash sounds
that her astounding mouth can make
prose poetry in its practice

as canines erupt, she moans from the ache
teeter-tottering restless to repress pain
speedily advancing in substantial strength
distracted by oblivious destructiveness

a significant stepping stone approaches
as a capable kindergarten adult
she wiggles loose her first baby tooth
receives a rich reward from a fantasy fairy

more teeth disappear like pressed piano keys
then return acutely out of tune
braces displace awkward half grins
an investment of finances and adolescence

unstoppable with seducing sweets
she sneaks cuddly candy under covers
falling asleep with sugar plum dreams
not counting a few costly cavities

free-spirited, experimental teen
meets Christina on the street
samples compelling quartz crystal
returns for seconds, as someone else disguised

mesmerized by mishmash sounds
that her astounding mouth can make
speedily advancing in substantial strength
she lucently levitates to a loftier place

a magnificent mind babbles assertively
sweeping the streets of pixie dust
no need to eat or sleep
like a firefly in heat, she dances frantically

teeter-tottering restless to repress pain
distracted by oblivious destructiveness
she visualizes voices that vivify the way
to the day's salacious survival guide

prismic vision's shimmers no longer satisfy
cotton candy granules' sweetness subsides
coming down from kaleidoscopic clouds
half-awake, she moans from the ache

shrill shrieks portray poetry's unspoken pain
death's drab projection is her heartless reflection
hocking heirlooms to trade for a transient thrill
a despondent inhabitant of tragedy

creepy crawlers invade every inch of skin
her thin figure balances a skull's shadow
irretrievable, ill-treated teeth crumble
like the city's plundered storefront windows

filthy, for granted, forlorn, fast-fading
...three feeble canine teeth remain

Feral Exchange

I am well spotted and nasty and do not mind that description

Will gather my fortune whatever is your inappropriate depiction

Dig my teeth into your body and soul straight down to the bone

Leave my scent on your remains with a well-executed stepping stone

Once we hunted together and I took your lead and compassion

Now I chose to digest you in the most vicious contemptible fashion

Watch the smile in my fangs cutting deep into blood and intestine

Straight in the open with no secrets nor lies or honesty clandestine

A hyena must live up to her promise of laughing when stressed

Revenge and retribution is delivered with vengeance at best

Hurt is written on my posture and demeanour when I tear into carrion

I am the epitome of self-righteousness so please don’t call me vulgarian

When I stand upright above your decay you will fall on my sword

As a reward for finding me repulsive now but once had me adored

I’ll clean you because out a divorce is such an opportune affair

To thrive on your misfortune whereas I am cultured and debonair

You got me wrong folks I’m not dirty only clean up after the act

To call me foul or unsocial is totally wrong and dishonestly inexact

Know why I attack my once glorious protector it’s because I can

I got you cold out of balance and that has always been my master plan

‘Oh dear ex fellow hyena you might have forgotten one miniscule detail

In some sense only I’m quite similar to you and can rip out your entrails

But I won’t let’s be clear about virtuous living and ethical behaviour

By retorting with similar greed I would merely be your victim role saviour’

‘I am also a hyena in a way that most humans will never comprehend

Simply because they are your models of ignorance and I will remand

You in your own prison meanwhile I found myself another cuddly companion

Go sharpen your claws if you want but I’ll feast on love and kind understanding’

You'Ll Never Know I Love You, Forever and Always

You’ll never know but you’re all I can think about.
You’ll never know but I love you with all my heart.
You’ll never know that the safest place in the world is in your arms.
You’ll never know that just hearing from you makes my day.
You’ll never know how warm your smile makes me feel
You’ll never know how much I really enjoy seeing you.
You’ll never know because I can’t bring myself to tell you.
I shouldn’t be in love with you.
But here I am, longing to be with you. How do I tell you without driving you away?
You’re my best friend, my confidant, my rock. There’s never a day I’m not grateful for having you in my life.
You know I love you
You know I appreciate you with all my heart
You know I care about you deeply
You know there’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t do for you
I’ll never say anything because you don’t love me that way and I respect that
But I’ll always be your best friend
I’ll always be by your side
Even if it means watching you love someone else
Even if it means hearing all about her
How your eyes light up when you talk about her
How you smile any time she gets brought up
How happy she makes you
I’d rather be completely heartbroken than see you unhappy
You deserve all the happiness in the world
Maybe one day I’ll move on but today is not that day
No matter what, I’ll always love you
And when you move away, you’ll still be on my mind
I can’t expect you to stay here forever.
We both know this town is just a stepping stone for both of us
You want Chicago, D.C., New York, Seattle
I want Houston, Dallas, Orlando, Myrtle Beach
You want at least one PhD
I want to get my bachelor’s and be done
You want kids, someone to make a legacy with
I can’t have kids, nor do I want them
Your True Color is green, mine is blue
Your Love Language is words of affection, mine is physical touch
We’ve always been opposites and we butt heads sometimes
But it makes us who we are, best friends through the best and worst times of our lives
Through thick and thin, to hell and back
I love you, forever and always

Premium Member The Ghost of Old Love

You can never be free of old love
it'll always be caged in your heart and head
At any time the ghost of old love can hijack your brain
turn it into a forest of monkeys
shaking the branches of your memory
tossing fruit of the past(rotten and sweet)
pelting the present
a parrot on each of their shoulders
mocking: you're not living
...ya shoulda picked me
ya shoulda picked me!

You're really living a double life
one in the tangible-one in your monkey mind,
one house brimming with the old love
shuddered and blistered with peeling paint
its rooms filled with wild cherry pits
a bag of cheap mexican gold
copper pots filled with vipers and laughter
a carousel of coyotes and fire ants
zigzagging along box canyon rapids
the big fall just around the bend of night
where everything was deadly but very alive,
it was all about accumulating scars of living.

Your new house is freshly painted
everything is uncomfortably perfect
just like you see on a movie set
perfect lines perfect hair
perfect lipstick never smeared
but where's the living-the life
the grime in the corner,
that clownish tangle of underwear at the foot of the bed.
Your conversations are a stepping stone
to get through dinner
this house can never burn down
because it lacks fire
there's only oatmeal and epsom salt
where nothing is deadly but everything's dead
the only scar is not living

You miss the imperfections of the old love
imperfections are the soil of life
where serpents wrap around sunflowers
spitting fiery pearls and manic thorns-
of course there is the crash to follow
but it is worth it
you didn't know it then but you know it now

Where you live now
there are no serpents or sunflowers
there are no exploding pinwheels
there is no fear
discussions are just a sparkless interview in gray
and what about the quiet moments,
are they uncomfortable
or are they filled with monkeys and parrots
slamming into your brain,
screaming
ya shoulda picked me!
ya shoulda picked me!!

Premium Member Old sage of the forest

Old sage of the forest

Old sage of the forest, wise inhabitant of Rickmansworth, thy statue and wisdom are true, true and true,

The true existence of the eternal sun, the stone of which is the foundation of life, an ancient world whose work has been preserved as a fossil in the ancient world as a memory,

Your heroic demeanor and your wise look towards the sky show, mean, but also offer the future an instructive new life and opportunity.

The light of your eyes for life looks up to the sky, hoping for life, and with its image, as a creative and eternal masterpiece, you reveal to us,

Which in the wisdom of life is the faithfulness that springs from you.

The faithful, which through you will be a masterpiece of life, which through life will be the life sown before you and the grass of the forest and field,

A masterpiece, a creation, a masterpiece, which is a work of life that breaks out of your self, um, breaks out, breaks out of a real past.

Old forest sage, your old age is always young, but ancient and faithful to the truth.

The truth seemed like it without you. It's gone, but it's still here, you're its pillar - a past reality...

A reality that points to the sky even in the present, and you will remain here forever as a signpost and a stepping stone for the future.

The truth is with you, with you, that's why you live, your existence is eternal, the future is watching you, you are the indicator of the direction of the road,

You are followed by the life that is future, there you are green, in the future your existence is green,

You are a dazzle, the splendor of your wise colors in the future radiating reality, dazzling and shining,

I look up to you, your pure being is the noble, steely, shiny diamond stone,

Your soul is the noble wedge of the world, whose ornament shines bright throughout the world,

You remain at my side as an ornament, example, life, decency and honor, immortal, who is forever doing and striving for life.
