Listen Daughter

Listen, dear daughter, with heart and soul,
For the wisdom I impart, is a guiding role.
Love begins with loving God, and loving yourself too,
For self-love is the foundation, on which all else is built anew.

Believe me, you're special, a gem so rare,
Don't lose yourself, in the noise, and the glare.
Don't be a doormat, that anyone can tread,
Respect yourself, and your worth, will be forever wed.

When you look in the mirror, don't be ashamed,
Of the person you see, with a heart that's not tamed.
Don't let beauty's lure, lead you down a dark path,
For dignity matters most, in life's every aftermath.

The body is demanding, with needs and desires so strong,
But self-control is key, to a life that's lived all day long.
Be mindful of what you put in, for it's a choice you make,
Don't be a wild fruit, that's plucked, and consumed, without a sake.

Don't be like a public place, where anyone can roam,
And leave you messy, without a thought, or a home.
If you need something, work for it, don't expect it free,
For nothing's given, without effort, and a willingness to be.

Be an example, of a good child, with values so bright,
Be good, and kind, and gentle, with a heart that's full of light.
Don't be vindictive, or divisive, with a spirit so cold,
For forgiveness starts, with forgiving yourself, and letting go.

Nobody can love you, if you don't love yourself first,
So be humble, and cool, with a heart that's not cursed.
Talk less, and listen more, for understanding is key,
To unlocking the secrets, of a life that's lived wild and free.

Be careful of whom you give your heart,
For love can't be bought, and a heart that's sold, will never be a work of art.
A woman who fears God, is a woman of worth,
Clothed in good character, and respect, from the inside out, on this earth.

Don't love money, but rather, like it with moderation,
For the love of wealth, is the root, of all temptation.
Be a woman of substance, with a heart that's pure and kind,
And you'll shine like a star, in the darkness, you'll be a light to find.

Special Day

My life has been special in so many ways
Among them there has been wonderful days
A few I remember, although they are gone
I listed here in this, my life’s song
Stay true to yourself, do others no harm
Right from the start, a baby in arms

Each life is so special, a gift for us all
Spend each day wisely, try not to fall

My parents they loved me. Every day
Their love was so special it kept me safe
They gave me my direction showed me the way
I found my vocation, worked hard every day
Earning a living, respect and position did I gain
Rose up in the company, proud of my name

Each life is so special, a gift for us all
Spend each day wisely, try not to fall

As I grew older company I really needed
school it was done exams all completed
Friends I had many. Most they were great
One became special, got right in my heart
One day we both stood, promised not to part
Our marriage was blessed, everyone came

Each life is so special, a gift for us all
Spend each day wisely, try not to fall

As a couple we went on trying our best
Then one day a baby. In our own little nest
So special a gift we created from love
All we had to do now, was help you grow up
twenty plus years have gone by the way
in my heart the two of you stay

Each life is so special, a gift for us all
Spend each day wisely, try not to fall

Many years passed you both not by my side
filled with shame I suppose I did hide
I look back now at the things that I've done
battles I fought lost a few but mostly won
but inside my heart the thing I want most
is to rid my mind of this terrible ghost

Each life is so special, a gift for us all
Spend each day wisely, try not to fall

Maybe one day we will meet all three, a feat
I look forward to that day to make me complete
then my life will be full, forget money and cars
without this repair on my heart I will still be last
So in my prayers and heart you have always been
all i want is for you both by my eyes to be seen.

Premium Member Requiem For the Lovelorn

Supine, his fathomless eyes fixed
on clusters of grey clouds suspended above him.
He's busy licking festering wounds of regret.
She was special; a gem, a raging flame to him.
The quintessential "one that got away"

His endlessly gnawing demons made her run,
and she never looked back. His punch-drunk heart
now lies in ruins and can't quite decide
how or what to feel. Each passing day, he weaves
a thread of fond remembrance for his lost love.

               That gorgeous, ever-present smile
              that often rendered him breathless!
             Those searching emerald green eyes
that pierced through the core of his soul!
Oh, the long beautiful dark hair that obeys the wind!

Their love story was once magically in bloom...
then the petals fell and were washed away by a flood.
Alas, all is now lost; night birds that used to tweet
as they foxtrotted under the moonlight now fly in silence.
Their flame of love flickered and dimmed in the breeze...

and the hands of time can't be turned back.
Fond memories of togetherness are now tinged
with melancholy that refuses to dissipate. They are but
barnacles he can't seem to scrape off. Gone forever...
a love he couldn't hold on to if he tried. Isn't it sad?

No Scars To Your Beautiful

In the darkness of the night, a glimmer of hope shines bright
Guiding you through the shadows, leading you to the light
You may feel lost and alone, but remember you're not far
There's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark

You may feel insecure, unsure of your worth
But let me tell you, darling, you're perfect from birth
You don't have to change a thing, the world should change its heart
No scars to your beautiful, you're a star and you're beautiful

Society may try to tell you what beauty should be
But don't let their standards define your identity
You're unique and special, a one-of-a-kind work of art
Embrace your flaws and imperfections, they make you who you are

Don't compare yourself to others, for you are incomparable
Your beauty radiates from within, it's undeniable
You don't need validation from anyone else
You're beautiful just the way you are, love yourself

In a world filled with judgment and hate
Be a beacon of love and kindness, don't participate
Spread positivity and light wherever you go
And watch as your confidence and beauty grow

You are worthy of love, respect, and joy
Never let anyone make you feel like a mere toy
Stand tall, stand proud, and own your power
You're a force to be reckoned with, a beautiful flower

So embrace your uniqueness, embrace your flaws
For they make you who you are, without pause
There's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark
You're a star and you're beautiful, let that spark

Shine brightly, my dear, for the world to see
Your beauty knows no bounds, you're meant to be free
No scars to your beautiful, they're just a part of your story
Embrace them, learn from them, and bask in your glory

You are strong, you are resilient, you are enough
Don't let anyone dim your light, be tough
You're a warrior, a fighter, a shining star
There's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark, you are beautiful, just as you are.

Superior Knowledge

The world is a lave a pallet of creation
Looking into space, a futile distraction
The earth is in space and all it represents
Looking upward wondering ignoring the obvious
The pattern of nature the key to life
Everything in nature release us from strife
From wondering mind, from wondering soul
Pillar too pillar young and old
Some think of it as architecture, some confusing mess,
Some a spontaneous fragment of scientific jest
To some a duty a jigsaw to caress,
And some just get on and never confess
We each hold the answer to our brain
Coming once sometimes again and again
Sometimes never at all, contained in distraction
The harrowing lore, the abyss of infatuation
The buckled belt restraint on the mind
Have to find out, not sure I will with death and time
But will it empower or dissolve my life
Sitting here continually wondering why
When that could be it, just to live to experience and enjoy it
And we the fools who try to explain never understood the simplicity
Expanding our stupidity with information overload, we didn't need
To study or to vex our thoughts flexing our complexion
With stressful sickness broken and distraught,
Are we just the sickness in god’s body?
A disease spreading in the DNA of the supreme
Thinking we are special, a comforting belief
Or are we trapped in our own creation,
Our creation is no waiting quotation
Or selfish intoxication of boredom
Or perhaps, the conclusion the capstone solution
Buried with its foundation, alas the incantation released
And now fondled into confusion its veil of truth still uncovered
No one is true enough to bind its rudder,
Elevate one’s conscience, conjure up the thunder
Not in modern times where knowledge is sought
By any mind, any person, any element of thought.

Trojan Heart Part 2

So it was that tragedy, which lead me finally,
Have another invasion, upon my lands-never,
To guard my boundaries, and bolster my army,
Let the pain in my heart, with cold fury- wither

The petty palisades of wood, are now of stone,
Upon ramparts are erected, many cannons strong,
Mighty swords sharpened, arrow-heads honed,
Wishing anger to sustain me, keep my vigil long

Much has been done, and more has been sought,
I promised to be mighty, not conquered futilely,
Often I be dismal, when I stare down my moat,
Need I be strong always, but eternally lonely?

Thence once these lonesome times, I look at you,
Saw a princess lovely, aloof and shy,
Could such beauty hold, a heart pure and true?
“No” I told myself, knowing full well I lie

Every moment then, are filled with longing,
For I knew you were special, a fragile innocence,
Could my night watch finally, see it’s morning?
But I won’t give up easy, what I built so far hence

To harsh self-flagellation, this denial has turned,
Fiercer heart-rending than, being left for a fool,
More formidable even, than all the days I mourned,
For rejection of affection, is now my first rule

Behind my quiet hard eyes, I ask you fervently,
Underneath my grim and dark façade, lies a question,
Hoping against hope, you will hear this mute plea,
Allow me once again, to breath Love’s desperation

Hear this entreaty, asked in silent despondency,
Words are not needed, Just feel my agony……

Could you be the Trojan horse,
To capture surreptitiously my heart?
Free me from this maddening curse,
Shatter this misery to the tiniest parts

Premium Member Telephone Man

Moved into my first apartment, I was now standing completely on my own,
Called the telephone company to install my phone so I wouldn’t feel alone.
Felt pretty proud of myself, just didn’t realize how young and foolish I was,
The telephone man hooked up my phone but his good looks gave me pause.
Said he had my number and thought going out with me would be a delight,
With a quick goodbye, he’d call to see if I was free for a drink one night.
We had several dinner dates and I thought that things were going well,
Until I had to call him at work and I realized I was in some kind of hell.
I asked for him by name and another man’s voice came on the phone,
Seems he had lied to me, his actions his colleague did not condone.
Apparently he was married and had children this telephone man,
He used his enterprising dating scheme and I fell for his plan.
Thought we might be developing something special, a close bond,
While all the time I fell for him, I was actually just being conned.
Found out he was working one day on a phone line close to town,
So I drove over and called out his real name, he turned with a frown.
You’re just a liar, a cheat and a dirty rotten scoundrel I shouted out,
My dreams shattered but a little wiser because of this telephone lout.

Distant Friends

Sometimes friends that are far away
can be your best friend
He lives in Malta
Which is 7,609 km in distance from where I am
I came to PoetrySoup in Jan of 2016
Obviously, at first, I didn’t know him
But soon it became clear to me that this man
Was special…a poets poet
He was there from the beginning
Always the first to comment
Even other people’s poems…first to comment
Or at least he was there
And then his poems
Full of flair life drama comedy
He had been through a lot
Like I was watching a marathon of movies
Crisp clean writing…I can’t recall any mistakes
Sometimes I would abandon him in commenting
Still, do…but he is always there
I love his bantering and dry humor
Never had many friends in my life (violin music lol)
If I did…they somehow took advantage(more violin music lol)
He is the older brother I never had (first of four brothers)
The sister I always wanted (metaphorically speaking lol)
(-curtain about to drop or mike)
(((((((((((((Victor Buhagiar))))))))))))))

…I’ve made many other great friends here…my poetic sisters and brothers
Such beautiful poetic souls…love you all (violin comes to a screeching stop)

Bestfriend Till the End

I sit all alone thinking of you
and all the things we've both been through
You are my very best friend
and I know you'll be there until the end

Your shoulder to cry on is now gone
who will be there when something is wrong
When times are tough you've always been there
It shows me just how much you care

Although lifes challeges have brought us separate ways
you're in my heart till my final days
Nothing can make a person see
how special a person you are to me

I dreamed of a best friend just like you
and finally my dream came true
Nothing else could ever fulfill
everything you're friendship will

You understand a side of me
that no one else could ever see
You know whats wrong before i cry
but if I do, you always know why

A friend like you is hard to find
you put my problems all behind
You were there when no one cared
the best times were the ones we shared

We've been together through good and bad
you made me laugh even when I was sad
And no one else could ever be
as good of a friend you are to me

But now until the very end
you'll always be my special best friend.

A small cameo rests inside a velvet-lined chest
Its latch broken, there’s a faded picture inside,
A thumbnail-sized sketch of her handsome best
Has rested inside it since Great-Grandpa died.
Her cameo’s been treasured through the years
Passed through generations with loving care,
Which once was handled through flowing tears
Now is a shrine, revered with a lock of her hair.
Once it hung on a silver chain around her neck,
We occasionally saw her gently fondle it there
As she spoke of her lover, she gave it a peck,
Placing the lock of her braid with a loving flair.
Grandpa gave it to her on their wedding day
An extra special reminder of their marital bliss
It was something special, a family heirloom
Occasionally, I saw my mother give it a kiss.
The broken locket, a gift from a loving groom,
Merits a special honored place in my bedroom.
