My steps sketch themselves in charcoal on this sunlit path.
My brushes lose their way upon the open canvas of life.
Shadows are rare this morning, and yet still awaited.
A white merges with the vast blue of the sky in a blessed instant.
Creation is an alchemy that opens the gates of paradise.
The palette, a deep breath unfolding its wings of color.
Poetry, the blender of life’s hues, shapes a shelter.
Letting these sparks of brightness slip away warms the heart.
Feeling a breeze of emotions invade us then fade.
Performing a light and steady gesture that touches the heart.
Weaving a cloth of colors to finally watch it soar.
Opening the sky to the vibrations of the purest sounds is flattering.
Perceiving a silence laying its imprint as it withdraws.
Watching this universe of tones glide quietly toward the invisible.
Sensing this lesson unfold in a hesitant gesture.
To the arpeggio of light is bound what is born unspeakable.
— Joël Charvillat
As the years and times will change this bustling city,
once almost invisible from Heaven itself,
we'll remember it as it took on the face of death:
giving each other comfort and asking why
would anyone hate so much this nation...
to demolish what took years to build with devotion!
Our presence will greatly attest,
and send a message so strong and sound
that their ears will not miss;
angels still fly over that sacred place,
and watch it with their smiling faces...
to please God with all their will,
because they know too well
that our sorrows can't be measured!
As the seasons and the days slip away,
only that memory remains timeless:
faint voiced of family and friends
wailing in the thick smoke and burning flames,
and as helpless as they are, where they pray,
they think of us as their Guardian Angels!
Our presence will greatly attest,
but nobody can ever sway us from our achievement:
a tragedy such as this, will not be repeated...
we lost too much to be intimidated!
Our end did not come unannounced,
I had a premonition when you started to slip away
Into the quiet distances, choking off any possible growth.
Ours had been a game, a waltz where missteps spoke their part,
My great sorrow was the pain, not letting me lose you, though you were gone.
In your eyes, I saw the despair speaking bluntly to your face,
Your voice always telling me how much space you desired,
I knew that leaving was your final act,
But the chaos within me would not let me accept the truth
That all our reconciliations, after fierce fights, were but a mere abduction.
And yet I realized you were only a habit,
Painful to say, but so true and raw,
My hopes clashed with the foolish thought
That someone like you could ever be reclaimed.
But the more I entangled myself in the web of empty promises,
The deeper I fell into the trap, lost in these wandering rhythms.
Your hollow promises, "I can't live without you,"
And nights spent crying like a child rendered me immovable,
No, they were no longer worth even an hour of endless time.
Now silence wraps around me like a final, secure blanket,
Freed from seeing you in the dawns that seek and chase me.
And like a bird from its cage, I fly towards unknown skies,
Leaving behind the smoke of a love that took everything from me but also taught me
That some paths are not meant to be followed, and some destinies – not to be bound.
Tick tock, tick tock, goes the clock
As time passes by, we cannot stop
Life moves forward, never standing still
Changing and growing, at its own will
We try to hold on, to each precious moment
But they slip away, like sand in a moment
One day we are young, full of life and charm
The next we are gray, with no strength in our arm
We chase our dreams, and make them come true
But soon they are lost, like a morning dew
We love and laugh, and cherish every smile
But with time, they fade away, every mile
So every moment we have, we must make it count
For time is precious, and it won't wait around
Life may be short, and time may be quick
But we can make a difference, that's just the trick
So let's cherish every moment, and never let it go
For life is just a matter of time, you know.
Time slips away ever so quickly and silent
that its passing is never evident...
Until it is our time to leave and go on alone
to stand before God and His glorious throne.
But, if we take just a moment of each day
before those 24 hours quickly slip away...
We should think on those who have passed
and gone to their reward at last.
I oft recall my father's pride in work as his son
because he could never leave a job half done...
He was a man among men in my eyes
and I cried for hours the day he died.
Sometimes I try to remember my mother's face
it's simply done, when I recall her embrace...
She was as emotional as a woman can come
perhaps it's from her that I have some.
There are others that I also bring to mind
as they were mostly willing and kind...
Aunts and uncles are the ones most clear
as they helped my life better to steer.
There were others who also in that time
kept me from the streets and crime...
Like Caribe, the man who made me oh so aware
that confidence is a gift given by a God who cares.
I try to remember the philosophy of my good friend John
who always had a joke that went just beyond...
A hard working man like my dad who gave me a chance
to know how night is only day's expanse.
So many faces now keep flying by
I could never finish as long as I try...
Let me leave you with a few thoughts I have
about those I've mentioned and whose memories I save.
They were "THE GREATEST GENERATION" in my eyes
for they did not wake each day to bright blue skies...
Instead they worked and struggled and wrought out of life
A new day for us, with laughter and love to hide the strife.
Many are gone and more leave us each day
as their time is now slipping away...
I pray that the lifetime they spent here
will please the Lord to let them come near.
In the next 24 hours, and I hope you do
take of moment of time to remember those who were close to you...
If they are still here please give them a call or hand
and thank them for the courage they had in making us stand.
Yes, a generation is leaving and I acknowledge them
for we shall not see their likeness again...
I pray that the Lord take them all in
for truly, they were "THE GREATEST GENERATION".
grip tighter on my hand, please don't let me go, I can barely stand,
My legs wobble, My knees give way, but please say you'll stay,
explain to me why you must leave, because I'm really finding it hard to breath,
hold my hand and walk a while,
let's talk and let our hearts flow,
before our souls packs up and go,
I'm barely holding on since you've been gone,
fear is creeping in,
sorrow consumes my soul,
tears are flooding my lungs,
but I can never let you go.
Hand slowly releasing,
time for me to stand tall,
don't cry for me,
don't let go of your beautiful soul,
always let your beauty show,
all the talents you hold
don't let them slip away because
I can no longer stay.
It has been quite a while
since inspired pen has met with paper
Minutes have dripped into days
inspiration has become a stranger
I have so many gorgeous pens
yellow, gold, blue, purple, black
My instruments perfectly lined
yet my thoughts I can't unpack
As I grasp for clear ideas
they slip slide so smooth and clean
Melted crystals poured on palms
they leave a reflective sheen
As I desperately seek out myself
within these patterns of liquid light
I'm absorbed into the desert
like my hands now cracked and white
Let me close these ancient eyes
Travel to a place beyond frustration
Within the land of my slumber
I will live within imagination
There colours will be brighter
nothing will slip through outstretched hand
I'll be the master of my dominion
my mind will flex as I command
Nothing will be impossible
Until night turns into day
That's when my eyes will surely open
and my dreams will slip away!
There's not much for me
to do now
except to sit here
and wonder how
I arrived at where I am today
and I have to say
I am afraid
that the best of times
have past me by
gone...in a blink of an eye
break down and cry
huh all the time
crying for the good times that past
and the bad times that have carried on
crying for the happy moments
and the sad ones that will never be gone
remembering so much
yet forgetting everything
all the time your wondering
how to really love
you think you know
but it's all an illusion
it's wrapped up in so much damn confusion
then it's went so far
you don't see anyway out
you look around
and all you see is doubt
you begin to realize
it's you that's changed
your life got rearranged
how, why, where, and when
you don't know exactly
but that's what it did
then it hits you
now what you must do
this has to be fixed
and no one can do it but you
so you leave, and never look back
you can forgive but will never forget
where you've been
you turn around only briefly to see
just how for you've come
those fears were finally faced
time to move on...
nothing to do now
but sit here
and wonder how
I can never seem to
get my head out of the clouds
my thoughts everyday
turn to him so far away
he's always been the one
I've longed to hold
and by just looking deep
into his eyes
never needing to be told
how much he loves me
cause I'd already know
god I do need him so
I miss everything about him
his touch, smile, and sound of his voice
it's like I no longer have a choice
I have to raise my voice
and let it be heard
I know that I have to take this chance
or let it slip away once and for all
forever
yes I'm scared of the unknown
my fears and tears though
are now being outweighed
because of the love I have for him
I don't want to keep sitting here
with nothing to do
I no longer want to wonder
I know I'm in love with you
but I wonder so much
do you still feel it to
I need to know for sure
so I can move on...
with or without you here

Dry cool comfort;
Punctuates hazy day

Busy feet pound
Park walkway path;
Morning work rush

Birdsong echoes
Dawn salute;
Morning Glory flowers

Food paradise
Spoilt for choice;
Same old dish

Scented perfume
Floral sensations;
Charming delights

Promenade walkway
Airy seaside smells;
Evening serenade

Abrupt dusk
Darkness blankets;
Eyes stare blindly

Distant afterglow
Moist evening sky;
Hint of rain

Words slip away
Memory loiters brief;
Lost sad story

Spend day after day
Watching time slip away
Wasn't sure I'd make it this long
So many choices wrong
Feeling old age Start to creep
My bones weep
To the dreams I hoped to find
Pictures saved just to remind
Slowly seemed to get lost in my mind
As youth left me behind
So many things
I thought age brings
Had to learn first hand
Guess it makes it easier to understand
Love I thought I found
Life put her in the ground
Lessons learned
From times I've been burnt
Memories start to fill my mind
Scars left there to remind
Wasn't always strong
Times I was wrong
Took some time
Commented to my rhyme
Days turn into night
But the memories still burn bright
So long ago
Things I thought I would know
Now I just go with the flow
Times i thought I knew it all
Just to watch my dreams fall
Slowly age steals my why's
Can only see how time flies
My dreams start to fade
time may not of made
My eyes to see,
The truths as they may be
But the fire remains the same
Still stuck inside that flame
Off all the things I see
Lessons learned were never free
I carry them to this day
Memories are the price I pay
For Times not meant to stay
Of tomorrow I have no fear
Gone is all I've held dear
No reason for a tear
It is all a part of being me
Each thing I did see
Is all just a part
Of the beat of my heart
