Thee Grim Reaper As Pedagogical Savior

(fear not stalwart reader, the sword of Damocles just grazed thy chest when fate found us a place to call home).

to avoid the pitfall of prospective homelessness
which near future prospect
   induces existential angst i confess.

Today i.e. about two years ago (end of rope rhyme rote
approximately deux orbitz round the sun),
i wanted ta die and bid god riddance grandly
   going gamesomely gra grave,
   de deum, and cymbal crash

to Bing mulct emotionally, physically and spiritually -
all the grinding hardships would be gone in a flash
how tempting to seek ot a solution sans hemlock

mortal freedoms renting psych ass under

while n the edge of thirteen -
   Anorexia nervosa defeated -
   then as now experience
   10,000 banshee maniacs whip lash

lacerating, flagellating,
   and repeatedly rousing thoughts
shin to circle back to why death be not proud
when life on par with a mash

up of ennui, futile gobbledygook housing incubus

   in step happy jollity,
and levity attempt to make light

The First Time

The hand came forward to hold her wrist
While the other gave her breast a twist
The undressing slowly as he gawked
The deafening silence as neither one talked
She never gave permission to visit her tonight
He said he didn’t need it, she was his despite the fight.
Soon his hand grabbed at her thigh
And started up toward brown sky
With caverns underneath for exploring
Not a chance these caves would be boring.
He delved into the cave, flashlight in hand
Pushing and pulling against the soft sand
Which covered the floor of the cave he was in
He reached back slowly and grabbed her shin
When his search for gold was finally done
He left her as he found her, in the car, alone.

I look at shining stars in cobalt sky
with just one wish to make on only one
of billions of them in this Galaxy
where we're just one small planet with a sun!

And as I gaze, my mind is taking flight:
Beyond the moon and through the milky way,
we’re holding hands and soaring through a night
of fantasy on beautiful display!

We fly past Jupiter’s four rings of dust,
then far away to Pluto. Yes, we dare!
We circle back. How cold Mars is. We must
warm up near Venus. Is Love’s goddess there?

It matters not; my heart is ruled by YOU,
and in this sky of night, dreams can come true!

The Little Face I Was Born With
                     Christine Munsell, January 2025

This is the little face I was born with
And when you meet me you will see
My little baby face

You may not see it right away,
But you will see

This little face
With, still, the hope I had as a baby
That someone will love me

I have love
To give
To others
To the universe

People have come into my life
And I, with each one,
Bond
And each one will detach
Like a shin splint
An injury that burns, but I know this feeling
I know how it goes

And one day, healed,
I walk on, I walk, not away
But just one step in front of the other
As a baby does

I am still that baby
The one my mother loved (until I matured
And then she walked away)

Without real relationships with people
With Christmas alone,
My birthday alone
Any illness alone -
I still love,

I love the animals who look at me
With the intensity of a magic spell in child’s play
A smile of knowing - there you are,
You, my great blue heron - i love you
You, my sweet young possum, let me feed you something
All of you stray cats in the dry blizzard, I’ve warmed up some nice wet food
For all of you. I’ll also set out some warm water for you to drink.
Just give me a little eye contact – I’ll talk so sweetly to you.

He Cured Infection

The hardships of my life
Are like a clump of maggots digging through my skin
They are deep within...
How do I inspect them? Where do I begin
When I am in profound distress and sin?

I’m infected…but yet You healed me from all illnesses
I’m defected…but yet You cleanse me from any blemishes or messes
I’m dejected…but You certainly lift up my spirits
But I’m far from being resurrected…I’m ruefully neglected

Jaded by the nightmares…striking me with discord
Like a released sheep roaming in the plains of fate
How do I encounter with my shepherd?
Are we ever going to integrate?
When I’m a lost, stray animal…trampled down by a frown,
Worn-out by my regret and knowing my demise is my royal crown
I’m infected…but yet You healed me from all diseases
I’m defected…but yet You purified me from any filth or squalidness
I’m dejected…but You certainly lift up my spirits

I’m infected…but yet You healed me from all wretches
I’m defected…but yet You cleanse me from any blemishes or messes
I’m dejected…but You certainly pumped up my heart
But, Lord I’m far from being resurrected…I’m contritely mistreated
I’m infected…but yet You dealt with all of my despair
I’m defected…but yet You cured me with blessings you address
I’m dejected…but You definitely rely on my faith that I kindly share
But I’m aching recklessly…but I’m still in progress!

The tribulations of my life
Are like a cluster of wasps, stinging me with vigor in my shin
They puncture me deep within…
How do I infect their nests? Where do I begin
When I am in profound melancholy and cave in

Tell me, Almighty Lord, why do the demons ensnare me with their curses?
They won’t break the tension…in these godforsaken verses!

Let's Begin

5/25/17

Let's begin
I warned you to not mess with my kin
Yet you still did with a grin

So here I am to do you in
You're not going to win
Or get away by the hair on your chin

How are you going to swim
With no limbs
In waters with shark fins

How are you going to live
When I pull the pin
And throw it towards the exposed skin
On your shin

Que the violin
For you it will turn grim
When I cause you to be gone with wind

Are you dim
And don't you have a kid?
Shouldn't fib
Or expect others to forgive
When you burnt a bridge

Why do you got to be such a blood sucker?
Make you suffer
Worse than you did to others
A number
Of organs will be punctured
So that you eventually are permanently put under
Becoming food for organisms feeling hunger

Give you a kick and some punches
You officially can't be trusted
After displaying such corruption
There shall be justice
By you being punished
Leave you gutted
With a tool that rusted
As you die slowly or all of a sudden
A fitting end for the biggest glutton

Have you ever had one of those days
On the wrong side of the bed, bad days
When everything right went wrong

Cause the ding had lost it's dong
Ouch, Mr. Sun came peeking in
Up from bed and banged your shin
Leaky, full toilet overflowed
Damn, you stubbed your other big toe

Times like this: don't you love those days
Hardly anything seems to go your way?
Is little Johnnie turning green
Splat! Is that doggie ice cream?

Gas oven took a dump
Everyone’s oatmeal was in clumps
The kids were late AGAIN for school

Wasn’t that traffic cop a tool?
Oh, you should've just stayed in bed!
Rolled back over and called in dead…
Shoot! An hour late for work
Emptied Starbucks on your shirt

Dare you ask how this could get worse?
Others think you're such a jerk.
Next, the boss comes barging in
Tells you,"Look for work again"

Everything was going wrong
Vacation's gonna be a little long
Even your wife’s rope is at an end
Now she says, "Let's just be friends"

An asteroid fell from the skies
Smashed the beer between the thighs
Kick yourself for getting out of bed
