The Afternoon Moon

The Afternoon Moon

Grandmother reclines in the passenger seat,
while sunlight glows through her white wavy hair.
Her cheeks rosy, she smiles at me
as I drive east toward the Blossom Trail.
I beam back, then remember
my mask hides my mouth.

We pass some almond orchards,
the flowers like drops of warm vanilla cream
under the clear blue sky.
Grandmother remarks how some trees
already dropped their petals,
though it’s not even March.

A white half moon climbs the sky,
like it wants to get a jump start on night,
even if it’s only two o’clock.
It tries to rush away my Sunday,
my present moment, my time with Grandmother
into a whole week without her.
Will it hasten the day
she’ll move into assisted living,
where I won’t be allowed to see her?

Switch on
The tape recorder
Let the music begin…

Do not touch
The pause,
Fast forward,
Stop,
Eject,
Or, the Rewind buttons!

Let the music
Flow at its
Usual pace!

I do not
Want to rush
Into my future
By pressing
The ‘Fast Forward’ button!

Nor,
Do I want to retrace
My steps
Into my hoary past
with
The ‘Rewind’ button!

Let the music
Play as it always does

I want
To enjoy the present moment
I want to enjoy
The music
I want to
Take life as it comes
At its natural pace!

I do not
Want to pause,
Stop,
Eject,
Fast forward,
Or, rewind my life.

I just want
To unwind
And enjoy
The music—
Because,
Music
Is Life!

Eyes To the Prize

First and foremost is you
Yes you, all parts of you and gratitude as your plus one for a better attitude, as you well know
Better tag on hard to that grounding of yours,
Solid footing firmly planted to the ground,
Mind geared up to solder to them goals
Stay rooted and aligned, this is your time
Stillness betters focus always, so eyes on the prize, it's game on
First for the count is one to love, your own self perfect place to start
Another is one to look forward to, better days to come your motivation
Then there's the one for you to do right now, here this instant
Embrace the present moment sis, don't just sit and watch life sail past you
Day in day out, breath in, breath out, one day at a time
Mind on daily mantra mode: keep head down, nose clean, eyes always glued to the prize
then proceed to hit repeat
one step two steps, no more back and forth
fall only forward if you can, a crawl to the finish line still counts as a win
First one foot back, then one in front
keep it moving, eyes stay glued to the prize
ears shut to the noise, chin up, rise up, shoulders back, left foot, right foot
choices, engage free will, choices, always wise to the choice
This battle yes, that one you let go and watch from the sidelines if you like
Easy does it, slow the pace down, just trust in the process cos this one is timeless
Rein in the need to fill in the void, look inside you, yes inside I said, stay still hold focus, stand still, your truth to be found inside you sis
Put your back into it, marrow to bone, from inside to outside, soon you will make it, you know you can do this,
You got it your magic key, key to the lock, unlock the secrets of self mastery, that's right bout to master the self now, self governance yea, secrets reveled, life on self rule, marching, finally marching to the beat of your own drum, left right, left right
Ears shut to the noise and eyes glued to the prize as always
First one step in, then two steps, chin up, one day at a time
Then proceed  to hit repeat!

I knew He was with me
When I felt the pangs of regret,
The shame that filled me with darkness,
Breaking through my hope and faith,
Punishing my mind, my smile…

With despair, grief
Hues of anger in scarlet
Screams released by silence
Whose only dread, the fear
Falling from a heart who dreams
Only to find their dreams
Stifled by the agonizing
Details in a lie, a stolen hope
Who only knows to leave
Because His light has faded
From the present moment,
From the promise of tomorrow
The answer of a heartbeat,
Breathing quietly…

Still, I knew He was with me
When I couldn’t even feel Him there,
His presence so quiet, so unmoving
My mind questioned His will
His ability to change my condition,
My yearning and position…
The darkness of a storm far bigger
Than any tempest I’d ever known

I knew He was with me, abiding
Giving me His encouragement,
Comforting me with a light so tender
A love so gentle and sensitive…

My heart felt like it could break
From the feeling, the sense of a joy
So alive, compelling – intense
It gave away pieces of its intimacy,
Its grace and beauty, its kindness…
Erasing every doubt, all suspicion
With the promise of a peace so startling
It surpasses all understanding

This is the gift of Christmas…
	Knowing Him
Who is with me, filling me
	With hope, faith and love
The light that sings joy
	The warmth that burns
Through the doubts, coloring life
In an embrace of spiritual tranquility!

Bhagvad Gita a Must Read Book

"While contemplating on the objects of the senses, one develops attachment to them. Attachment leads to desire, and from desire arises anger. Anger leads to clouding of judgment, which results in bewilderment of the memory. When the memory is bewildered, the intellect gets destroyed; and when the intellect is destroyed, one is ruined."
Bhagvad Gita chapter 2 Verse 62 ,63
************************************************************************************************

No one can write about the greatness of that which encompasses everything...
It answers all questions about life!
That book is Bhagvad Gita, an ancient Indian spiritual treatise.

Its a collection of hymns, each priceless words of wisdom,
Even if one of them is practiced, eternal bliss is guaranteed,
Do read that book I would say, it will change you in a subtle way.

The purpose of human birth,
How to achieve salvation,
How to live perfectly,
Why and how of control over sense organs.

Death and the mystery surrounding it,
Human psychology,
How to handle tragedies,
How to be always happy and blissful.

Why there is disparity in the world?
Why bad times are better than good times?
It talks of this and much more,
List is endless...

Few of its gems I state below

Death is a mere change of cloth, soul moves from one body to another,
Bad days are better than good ones, they dissolve sins and give salvation.

However bad things may be, we have to be good,
bad deeds are punished, no questions asked.
We get back what we give, so should give what we want,
This applies to everything, be it money, help, love or talks.

Thoughts are powerful, thoughts brooded over decides our destiny,
We should have control over sense organs, not dance to their tunes.

When mind is fixed in the present moment, actions are perfect.
Only actions are in our hands not results,
so we should act without thinking of results.

Our actions of past and present birth decides our destiny,
we are the cause no one else!

And the list is endless...

A book of that magnitude cannot be encompassed in a poem,
A read of it is must for every human!
It can change whole perspective of life,
And make you a wiser and happier person.

Premium Member Christmas Season

Santa Claus is a scary dude.
Right up there with God.
He watches our every move
and keeps score with a list
that he checks twice to
prepare for judgement day
and what might lay
under the Christmas tree
if you're not found naughty.

I love that little baby in a manger
and angels, shepherds, lambs ,
a bright star to follow.
But the wise mens' gifts are suspect.
Smart shoppers would bring
a rattle, toys, maybe a lullaby.

Santa, Jesus, Christmas,
a season of light, anticipation and anxiety.
The big question pressing hard
like steel on ice.
Skating around sacrifice and salvation.
For God sake who could ever hope to be that nice?

Santa is not around after he delivers,
thankfully he leaves town and
God sleeps like new parents do,
catching some Z's
after an evening of childbirth,
well wishers, three kings.

Christmas morning.
Hurry! Bring your best intention.
Escape! Wake up before anyone.
Open your present moment.

Today in an unusual way
Something is amiss
After a brief strong morning headache.
My wife, donning her internet nurse hat
Asking a google search doctor,
Opines it might be a ‘mild cognitive impairment’
(aka getting old but not yet demented).
But in the moment, which seems to be resetting
Again and again, it doesn’t seem so mild!

A stroke of genius, or luck, or just
A good old brain aneurism is hard to know,
But everything seems fresh and unfamiliar
And the handful of poems I’ve written in the past week
Appear utterly unfamiliar
As if somehow secreted onto my computer
By a prankster bot
Or written by an imposter
Who somehow got control of my body-mind
But then got evicted this morning.
At first I think I’m reading someone else’s words,
Or maybe something vaguely familiar
But miss-dated and really from a year ago.

My wife, the instant internet nurse practitioner,
Runs me through physical and mental tests
Before giving me her unprofessional okay,
Which just leaves me even more baffled
As I laugh as each moment,
While tracking the last,
Appears fresh, unique and distinct-ly now.
But with the worldwide web at her finger tips
She gives me the thumbs up
Which I guess is as reassuring as can be
Without an MRI,
Something we don’t yet have an app for.

But despite all this medical jargon
The image that actually comes to mind
Is a crack in the cosmic egg.
The question then being
Will a runny yolk emerge
Or a bright eyed little wet chick,
Maybe even a Garuda?
I’m hoping for the fledgling Garuda
But I guess only time will tell.
The present moment on the other hand
Just keeps her secrets.

My wife tries one last reassurance,
“There’s nothing wrong with you.”
You’re always like this
Being the implication.
Personally, I’m not ruling out the MRI…

To be an artist

To be an artist
By Michelle Morris
26/10/2024

To be an artist
Is to see the world in technicolour
The kaleidoscopic views
That keep changing with the seasons

Not hindered by concrete greyness
Or the destruction of war
Where rubble lies where cities once lay
And red is the dominant hue every day

To be an artist
Is to be a lover of life
Where passion and curiosity
Spark inspiration and joy

Not shackled by the conventions of normal
Or labels or politics or silly to do lists
That hinder our present moment Zen
And keep us blinkered to Nature's beauty

To be an artist
Is to be brave when thought mad
To conquer doubt and cynicism
Because our heads are in the clouds

Not held back by others
Their strangeness that we kindly accept
Despite their rejection of everything we stand for
Our Time and Liberty is just too important to waste

To be an artist
Is to embrace peace and fulfilment
Juxtaposed against our constant discontent
Because we seek perfection of our creative reflections

Not stopping because we are unsure
Or critical of our blessed expressions
But forging onwards to heights unknown
Through clouds we aim for where the stars glow

Premium Member At the edge of the world, where time entwines with our wandering thoughts

At the edge of the world, where time entwines with our wandering thoughts,
Man, with a soul full of desires, tries to tame eternity,
Yet every step toward immortality is a step away from the light of flowing moments,
For life and death are two sides of the same coin, woven from the same thread of destiny.
We are born from one mystery and return to another, like a river unaware of its source,
And yet, in our desire to stop the flow, we defy the currents that guide us,
Embracing the illusion of eternity without truly understanding the present moment,
Thus denying the fleeting beauty of each sunrise bearing within it the seed of sunset.
Our souls, struggling between desires and fears, beginnings and endings,
Lose themselves in the search for a meaning to soothe their turmoil, but we forget that the meaning is the journey itself,
For every heartbeat is a song echoing in the silence of the universe,
And every breath is a testament to a dance between light and shadow, between love and forgetfulness.
In our attempt to conquer death, we have distanced ourselves from life, from the moments given to us,
But perhaps in accepting the ephemeral, in embracing the end, we paradoxically find immortality,
For only when we let the waves carry us without breaking them,
Can we dance with silence and truly understand the secret music of existence.

Hopeful for world change

Hey world,
Living through the warfare unapologetically, fearless, and courageous
To never claim defeat during tough scenarios, situations, or circumstance
It was same trickery working through different person, place, or thing
Making small adjustments with the wisdom gained from each warfare game

This repetition have become very old and boring; same old his-tory
History was trying to repeat yet again for horrid imbalanced reason
I weathered each storm with attire from wisdom, heart, and soul
Bold decisions to be fearless, love, and create without shadow of a doubt

The dignity, integrity, morals, and truth I embody is naturally phenomenal
Sharing my truths, wisdom, love, peace and compassion will bring unity
Evolving at this present moment along with others that's ready for peace
Ready to feel the energy of the earth as it shifts for a better change

The world will never know the true beginning of human creation and why
Supernatural sources helped code truths that was hidden from humanity
Some were told life is just a physical experience, which seems hard to believe
Enough of religion governance, slave programs, and birthright thefts

Living on a planet that provides everything for the survival of humanity
Famine was part of the beginning of warfare, strife, and hostility for control
Disease, war, weather, polluting air, water, and soil are genocides tactics
The agendas has eliminated ancient wisdom of people, places and things

No need for overrated luxuries that roots hate, worry, fear, shame, and guilt
There's nothing wrong with being famous for the greater good of the world
Entertainment participates neglecting family and choosing money
Fortunes has the world displaying lack of morals, value, and self worth

Lets release all beliefs about every type of discrimination and come together
Innocence, joy, inner freedom, camaraderie, and honest community
Healthy relationships with US/WE in mind and not I/mine
OUR world, time to take it back; we have endured enough.

Energetic(spiritual) warfare is REAL.
I love you all, may peace be within you!
