The Cloud of Unknowing

staring at forever!
                  grinning,
                          empty;
                              free of meaning...

this slippery surface of merCurious illuMentation;
an ephemeral shining at the back of the mind,
illuminating the limits of the fatal skin-we're-in --

it's the plight of the unbelonging to be longing
        before this bottomless bliss
listening to the sound only the heart can hear

reasons un-wound fall unbound toward
a pointlessness of
     parallaxing into tunnel-vision -
where the paralysis of analysis 'n indecision

gets
wrapped up
        in many Mansions,
                    for LotusBlossomslaughter.

War taps into the pent-up hate,
anger and aggression, stored in the human heart.
And pacifist souls suffer
abuse, humiliation, denigration,
and even torture;
from those bent on domination.
We are taught not to feel empathy
or compassion for the oppressed.
Words get spun, sweet as cotton candy,
like hero, patriotism, duty, and service;
all designed to fuel blind faith,
fear, and obedience.
There are other words whispered
amongst the brave:
words like hope, love, peace,
and brotherhood.
But they are inevitably stifled
by the sound of guns;
or cries for revenge!
And so, the human story unfolds,
like a cat and mouse game;
with the pointlessness of the hunt
triggering raw emotions.
Innocence often gets caught
in the middle;
as truth and lies pull heartstrings
in different directions at once:
until all the heart feels is pain.

Premium Member Is Not This the Brevity of Human Life- -

Is not this the brevity of human life?
In my conciseness and exacting mentions
The proper use of words in my writing or speeches, huh
In awe, at naught-what
Is not this the brevity of human life?
While filling my mind of redundant thoughts
Conciseness What, Concision Why,
Succinctness Yes,
Is not this the brevity of human life?
Economy of the stock market crashes the economy clashes raise more taxes , huh!
Language skill, consciousnesses, shortness IRS you either do or don’t pay your taxes;
Briefness stills faithful wills,
Pithiness jaunt, pith, incisiveness skills,
Is not this the brevity of human life?
Crispness words rips truths and lies spills;
And we're all compactness together,
And we shall compression compactness, compression forever (huh);
Laconic, terseness, pointlessness, curtness, abruptness; (what)
"This verse notable for its clarity and brevity"
Shortness of time, why;
"This verse is or isn’t the brevity of human life"
This verse	shortness, briefness, transience, What
It’s transitiveness, ephemerality What!,
Impermanence Huh??
Is, is not the brevity of human life-Huh
What is not this the brevity of human life?
Is not this the brevity of human life?

The Harder Part of Me To Hide

I guess depression is the easier choice.

Rather than feel a hope that allows me to rejoice.

I suppose everyone just wanted me to be aware-

Of the pointlessness of my life- I’m supposed to despair!

For a moment in time there was a final day of peace.

After those weeks of sleepless nights, it was like I was frozen in ease.

Until the fingers snapped in front of my face.

And my angry family was ready to take my new memories to erase.

So that I could go back to being tethered.

And hope would no longer tempt me like a feather.

They just don’t want me to have more pieces to hide.

Goodbye happiness- I know you tried.

Premium Member Time To Judge The Judges

This is a contest no ordinary
As you can judge it is about judges extraordinary
Especially the ones who overly judge
About nothing, in particular, nothing at all
They judge simply for the sake of judging
An expertise they have developed over the years
And now can’t live without it for the rest of their lives
They find exemplary ways to judge poetry
First and foremost the poem has to be new
In a particular format, the devil knows which
No politics, no religion, no burning issues, no original poetry
It is a test of the poet’s ability to digress and ramble
On topics that are concise like ‘Jack and Jill’ or ‘Baba black sheep’
Yes, the poem will be judged on rhyme and reason
Contestants should find their own rhyme, reason is already given
If they cannot rhyme to save their lives
They may use the option of free verse
But the main point is they should be
As irrelevant and pointless as possible
Contestants who have won at least one contest
With their pointless poems can participate
The rest can seek their deliverance elsewhere
No fancy fonts, no rib-tickling wit, no Rugby jokes
No plagiarised stuff, no intellectual brilliance
Both are shunned where poems are judged
Awards will be given for pointlessness and obfuscation
First, Second, Third and several dishonourable indictments
Only the best will win, the rest can sin in jealousy and envy

Premium Member 1981: a Texas Odyssey

Calamities…
assaulted by the Memorial Day tsunami
drowned victims & floating cars--
appendix detonates during the Season of Hell
haplessly hospitalized in the UT-Austin medical zoo

Delusion of progress…
recovering in the mobile home
plodding through texts of
postmodern pointlessness--
overcome with visions of nuclear annihilation

Life is a plunge…
sensory overload & self-deconstruction--
reading "One Hundred Years of Solitude"
pondering Camus’ only philosophical question
does Jung have the answer?

Re-entry into the (ir)real world…
Labor Day blues & academic angst
surrounded by yi(u)ppies--
mesmerized by Eastern philosophy
crushed by existential dread

The Being & Nothingness of Texas...
The Longhorns won/lost The Game
primal braying & primitive reveling
avoiding the orange phallic madness
evading beer bottles hurled by frat boys

Monstrous cockroaches inherit the Earth…
discombobulated by the sadistic heat
I ram my fist into a case of Lone Star
“The horror, the horror” as Kurtz opined
can I still resurrect myself?

Five packed together in one car…
a circuitous journey to South Padre Island
silent white sand & red star suspended over the Gulf
hypnotic waves & harsh words in the condo
the Odyssey is (in)complete(d)

Slow Frown

The curtain is down the show has found its final vibrant glow
Lights out minds provoked and the audience is still waiting for

			Godot

He arrives which is a surprise and yet he hangs from the ceiling in
A show-down of souls while a vacant spectator shouts his Eureka to

			Arche-Midas

The last act touched him deeply and types of paradigm refute what is
Not meant to unravel as everything turned into gold’s wicked curse of

			Obscurity

Absurd a theatre of obtuse legends finds its angles and perspective
As observers compare their bits in the lavatory after the performance’s

			Show down

Slowly seeds germinate take their path to freedom in lonely pursuit
‘Am I the only one who got the point of reverence' in meaningful

			Pointlessness

While revellers ponder about the poignancy of washing their hands
Cleaning their thoughts with sugar soap from Becket’s arsenal in

			Vanity

A jester smiles frowns slowly at existential essence when he throws
A pack of cards down onto empty rows randomly aligned on baseless

			Foundations

Sometimes we all miss the grimaced façade sheltering the clown’s
Valid conclusions but the spectacle continues not down but out of

			Nowhere

Premium Member Pointlessness of War

The dead and dieing laying in piles
carnage of the pointless war
buildings hazed to the ground
devastation where ever the eye could see

Young men and women back from the front
suffering from the horrors seen and committed
knowing they have blood on their hands
and for what!!! Certainly no gain earned.

Blindly following orders made from afar
people who have never seen the awful carnage
who sleep safe in warm beds with pleasant dreams
no deity asked for this war just the greed of man

Maybe if they had to spend a couple of weeks
fearing daily for their sorry worthless life's
amidst the wreckage that they have caused
maybe, just maybe they would stop and think again
war

Premium Member Melancholic Urge

Rising from the recollection of a yearning,
Pieces of me, broken and hurting
Spoiled by the risk of a lasting darkness,
Remembering the past with all its lostnesssss…

Rising from the impossibility of a smile,
Whispers of bleakness, futility
Spilling over my longings, my dreams,
Memories praying to be forgiven their despairing

Rising from the ineptness, the misery,
Doubts melting into the remembrance
Desperation revealed in pieces of uncertainties,
Distrust, reservations, pointlessness and absurdityyyy…

Rising from the past, the ancient history of hope,
Where I once lived, tender and innocent…
Until the melancholy grew rivers, rapidly rising fears
Dark and dreading – taking my peace, replacing it with battles
Falling black, like the clearest night without a star,
The faded dark, filled with disbelief and misgivings…

Rising from the heart, though…
I soon found the remembrance of a hope,
Lighting the way, promising and praising….
Remembering the way through doubt and confusion,
Eternal faith in the One who guides the reason,
The One who abides and brings a second chance to sayyyy….

Forever – He is Alive – He reminds me why…
Forever – I will smile – Because He is mine!
