Hollywood, California: Aka Tinsel Town

What's so great about Hollywood, California, is that of its stardom and where dreams of
stardom come true. It's considered the "Famous Town" in the L.A. area, especially when one
person is driving on Hollywood Boulevard. Hollywood is so great, it will make a person (a
guy and/or a gal) stay there forever. As a matter fact, they'll never want to leave Tinsel
Town. There's a lot of things in Hollywood, California: there's the Hollywood Walk of
Fame, Planet Hollywood, Universal Studios theme park, the Hollywood sign, and other stuff.
L.A. also has some stores, theaters (including the Chinese Theater), and, along with that,
the Capitol Records building. and for rock bands that are residing in Los Angeles (The
City of Angels), California, all gigs will have been held at either the Hard Rock Cafe the
Los Angeles Theater, or Roxy Studios. But that's not the only good part that describes
Hollywood, California, though. The L.A. area has Sunset Studios on the Sunset Strip,
there's CBS Television City (where all 'Wheel of Fortune' episodes took place at Studio
33), and, on top of all that, all of the movie stars and the TV stars are there,
especially that of Charlie Sheen, Tom Green, Perez Hilton, Halle Berry, and other famous
stars. Hollywood, California, is considered a dog-eat-dog town, especially when these
would-be superstars are planning on being famous one day. These people are now playing by
their own rules. But even if he or she becomes a Hollywood superstar, one of them will be
in a drug scandal (accused of using cocaine), a sex scandal, and other controversies
that's going on in the Los Angeles area. But despite all of the bad things that might
happen to those hopefuls, I'm sure that these people will make it in Hollywood,
California, without ever getting into trouble, let alone getting arrested by the LAPD (Los
Angeles Police Department). And if anyone can last up to more than 24 hours in Hollywood,
California, without any drama going on, so can I. I wish I was a Hollywood story-writer, a
Hollywood playwright, a Hollywood novelist, and a Hollywood producer.

Verbal Intercourse

Strap ya helmet on
and while you at it
pass the keys, we'll
ride and eat on
words for dinner,
homie pass the
peas,

I don't do this on
purpose, it's the
way things have to
be, I'll smack these
kids without a
daddy, little
bastards please.

Expand your mind a
bit and you can
comprehend the
flow, there's no
amor for garden
tools cause we
don't love them
hoes,

let William foot the
Bill that Matt can
wipe his feet on
quick, my potna
Rich concurs the
other Richard's just
a Dick.

These words can
read like any book,
don't be afraid to
look, goodfellas root
for guys in movies
living life like
shnooks,

you'll never freeze in
coal that people
use to feed the
heat, I spank on my
filet mignon
therefore I beat my
meat.

Go 'head and make
a pizza out of $100
notes, cause all
you need is sauce
and cheese with
lots of flattened
dough,

your car breaks
down in traffic?
Lose your shoes
and get a tow, and
whilst you wait get
stoned with lots of
dro that rock ya
dome.

They call me Mr.
Heinz cause you're
in back and can't
catch up, you'll get
the FICA treatment
when I'm taxin
that's whasup,

and that's no
homosexual, I'm
happy cause I'm
gay, my pounds are
like my methods so
it's 2-8-0 my weigh.

I hope y'all get the
message how
it's 'sposed to come
across, I clean my
teeth with currency
so yes indeed I
floss,

the doctor wants to
rush and send the
people to their day,
I guess it's safe to
say he has no
patience either way.

My wordplay is a
blessing like the
other side of sin,
when makin love it's
guaranteed I will
arrive again,

so come and join
the sideshow 'cept
the magic isn't blue,
I wear my t-shirts
circle necked when
rollin with my crew.

To read is
fundamental but to
not is dumb as hell,
some people love
stupidity, I wish the
others well,

my word'll slide
inside a chick and
keep her tunnel hot,
it's verbal
intercourse
vernacully I've
touched the spot.

The Poet's Ten Commandments

Thou shall not plagiarize other people's work
The first commandment for a poet
It's a shame that some people do it
While others simply don't know it

A poem doesn't always have to rhyme
The second commandment we must obey
But some people choose not to listen
Regardless of what others might say

A poem can be about anything you want
The third commandment sends some people reeling
They think it can't be a poem at all
Unless it's something to do with our feelings

Thou shall not criticize others unjustly
The fourth commandment we must adhere
They don't need their creation destroyed
It's constructive critisim they want to here

A poem can be any length you choose
The fifth commandment we all must follow
For if they were all made the same
It would surely be hollow

The vocabulary is strictly up to the poet
The sixth commandment is the poet's choice
He alone can decide the words to use
That will best give him his voice

Inspiration can come from anywhere we like
The seventh commandment we all hold true
Everyone has their writer's block moments
So whatever helps us get through

The poet can write any form they want
The eighth commandment is a must
The poet knows the style they like best
And their choices we're obliged to trust

Poetry is all a matter of taste
The ninth commandment is just like the rest
The reader must choose what's dear to his heart
And the poems that he likes the best

Never alienate your readers
The tenth commandment speaks for itself
Cause if you act like you're better than them
Your books will stay on the shelf

Black Revolutionist

Here I stand before you a black man, a poet
a religious leader on the low, I represent the people
who want freedom but are too scared too fight for hope
I'm America's nightmare but Dr. Kings Dream
I'm sumthin this world has never ever seen
you see people wanna change but don't wanna battle
I'm here to abuse freedom of speech like
disobedient children gettin beat with a paddle
I'm here to put my people on the map
without the strike of a fist, I'm one of God's angels
who was lurkin in the shadows under the abyss
I got the patience of the old wit a young mans soul
I'm the man wit the gavel in an all black robe
I reside on the throne blessed, sanctified, and gifted
I'm that perfect example of what the 12 tribes
of Israel are spiritually missing
I'm Nelson Mandela in a jail cell when he was losing his mind
I represent every positive rap artist
that didn't get promoted or signed
I'm a suicide attempt just before thinking the thought
I'm a two time felon riding wit a brick of coke
gettin pulled over by the police about to get caught
I'm the one who's gonna stop this black holocaust
before the African American race is extinct
I'm the thought you second guessed
the moment you missed because you blinked
I'm Saul on the road to Damascus being used by the Lord
I'm Heaven itself rejoicing when the doctors cut my umbilical cord
I'm every Christian on the face of the earth
who thought they were about to lose it
I'm God's child, The Lord's Messenger
and I am The Black Revolutionist

Harsh Reality Vol.Ii

They Say It ain't what you say but how you say it
so tell me, how do you get across the truth knowing
how people are gonna look at you after the moment
it's spoken. I mean people hate it but love it so
addictive like 2nd hand smoking me, I'm like a
sponge when it comes to knowledge yeah I'm
still soaking my man got his life taking away from
him before his time and for me dat was like a wake up call
but I've learned never mind the good times how you gone
react when things hit rock bottom, can you still stand tall
It's hard doing right when every things gone wrong
how you goin catch dat hailmary pass when you outta bounds
life ain't nothin but a choice of who you goin stay loyal to
Your Lord & Savior, or ya homeboys ya know them niggaz
dat always held you down. What's reality for me?
Knowing at the wrong place or wrong time I could leave
this world and my seed would be fatherless, but looking
out my scope with all the snakes & rats I encountered
its hard to see who's the real target and yeah I'm
Holy so I got gifted hands like Ben Carson, and as a black man
I'm only trying to reach what we call freedom and man can't
live off bread alone so for my son's sake the holy scriptures
I gotta continue to feed him. So if this ain't harsh reality
somebody tell me, whats the fate of another lost soul,
just another statistic to the streets that came from
an unstable home

Food For Thought Vol.I

It's crazy how a woman & man have the power
to bring life in the world suddenly have
2nd thoughts about that kid all because
they were in the moment of lust and
now...regret what they did. It's funny how
the word love gets thrown around
like a L in the cypher and how the use
of them four letters have killed so many
lives like a blood thirsty viper. How did holy
matrimony ever turn into this facade this
circus act that's shown around television
by people who see long term relationships
as long division something to divide and conquer
yeah seems like a misconception that Lucifer
cooked up and served to the most cold hearted
individuals, what ever happened to that we shall
over come I can do all things threw Christ mentality/
ritual. What ever happened to treating others
like you do yourself, why is it if someone wrongs
another we as people make it our business
in the essence to hit below the belt why do people
need the esteem of others to elevate their self
why does the truth hurt so much these so called
americans can't accept the cards that have been dealt
somebody tell me when it's ever okay to cheat on your lover
how is it so easy for people to forget the ones heart
they broken or melted like butter
now I ain't looking for an answer this just rhetorical
I just thought I'd raise some eyebrows but at the
same time be warm & cordial

Luxurious Lifestyle

Every day, these people are living on the land of wealth. It's like they've got plenty of
money, billions and billions of dollars' worth. This type of lifestyle is so great, it's
like he and/or she's in heaven. There's a lot of things rich people can do for free time
like playing golf at various country clubs, swimming at pools, taking rides on their
yachts, and stuff. Also, these people can even drive in their expensive cars like one of
those BMW vehicles worth over $85,000, ride on their horses throughout the countryside,
drink wine out of their wine glasses, eating fish eggs, and stuff. Living the richest
lifestyle has plenty of rewards, especially when this person's wanting to go on a $25,000
shopping spree. Sometimes, being rich means that he or she's set for life or whatever, but
being rich should mean not spending too much money on unnecessary things. It seems that
most people who are less fortunate really want to know what their lives would be like if
they were wealthy and were able to afford all expensive items like clothing, jewelry,
luxurious cars, and stuff. But just as long as these people who are rich know that they
must be considerate to others and try to give back to their communities and stuff. And if
we, as middle class citizens, were to live the luxurious dream for the first time of our
lives, that would be very awesome.

Country Clubs

Country clubs are best known for their golf courses, tennis courts, and lobbies. They've
been a part of the lives of all wealthy people for some time to come. It seems that
everybody wants a piece of the good-life pie. When he or she's going to one of the real
country clubs, it's like going for a boat ride on a yacht in Miami Beach, Florida. It's
also as if he or she's living the rich life. It's the time of the year for then people are
going to a lot of country clubs for brunch, to play golf, to play tennis, or going to one
of the fitness centers for daily exercises. going to country clubs is also considered a
social gathering, or better yet, an intimate get together. This seems very interesting.
I'm hoping to work for one of the country clubs, making a lot of real money. I might even
interact with all of the country club members and my would-be co-workers, too. I ever
heard that a lot of people, who are working for a lot of corporate companies, are meeting
at a lot of country clubs every single day, especially when they're talking about the
company's budget and whatnot. I'm hoping that the middle class citizens become members of
every country club in the United States of America without the club members ever judging
other people. And without country clubs, there wouldn't be any caviar or golf players or
whatever.

A Message To the Poets of Poetry Soup

Dear Poets,

First of all, I would like to say hello. My name is Dakarai Cobb, but you know me as The
Sonnet Man. Let me get right to the point. The reason why I am sending "a message to the
poets of poetry soup" is because I want to let you all know how much I respect your
opinions. Until I found this web site, I would have never dreamed of offering my poetry for a
group of people to critique on a daily basis. I have enjoyed the feedback, and have enjoyed
reading and critiquing all of your poetry as well. I would like to ask you all for a favor. I
created a contest between Sarah Hales and myself, because I enjoyed reading her sexy
poetry. I thought that we would have fun with this flirty challenge. However, we need people
to help us judge this competition. This is probably one of the few times that the soup
community will have an opportunity to judge a single contest collectively. So if you all are up
to the challenge, then have at it. Thanks. Your friend forever. The Sonnet Man.

In Writing,
Dakarai Cobb (also known as Doc the poet)

* Some Times

Sometimes I am not thankful for the
things I have and think I need more.

Sometimes I am not grateful enough
for the people and things I have,

Sometimes I take things for granted,
and think they are my right to have them.

Sometimes, I forget to say I love you to,
the ones in my life that mean so much.

Sometimes, I speak badly about people,
and forget that they have feelings too.

Sometimes, I get mad because someone,
cuts in front of me at the grocery store.

Sometimes, I pass by those who have their,
hands out and asking for money for food.

Sometimes, I forget the real reason why I,
was put on this earth and treat people badly.

Sometimes, I forget about God and that he,
is the reason I am here and never thank him.

Sometimes, I take friends for granted and always
expect them to be there for me but not for them.

Sometimes, I forget to smile and tell others to
have a good day and be helpful to them.

So I am going to try and change my sometimes,
to 'Doing' the things I sometimes forget to do.
