One Day To Remember

Complexities
message
within
simple rhyme

The shortest
route taken
to phrase
and define

What others
may see
but will struggle
to feel

Each word
chosen simply
like spokes
on a wheel

That turns
and spins freely
no gears
to obstruct

And rolls
ever forward
its path
to instruct

One day
to remember
as you sit there
alone

In foreign
confusion
the rhyme
— takes you home

********

If The Shoe Fits ...

You lurk
in the shadows
voyeur
that you are

And wait
to pass judgment
from safely
afar

Your hands
never dirty
your alibi
clean

In a larcened
attempt
to steal
other’s dreams

You prey
and you stalk
behind words
you make up

To slash
from behind
with a knife
that won’t cut

But herein
you’ll die
as the silence
forays

To rot in
self-loathing
yourself
— to betray

Moving Forward

Drained of doing too much of nothing at all
Racking my brain to be unprepared to fall
Into things that make sense to make sense to more
Hardly motivated to find what all this is for
While peace lies in wait for confusion to obstruct sleep
So we are left wide awake by things we do not keep
From exposure of uncertain truth to be told
Bound by a faith in our words to hold.

Through troubles we mend with answers that explain
Enough to grow through and move on from the pain.
It has become too easy not making things hard
For a decision to stay against being a part
I make without knowing or any care to know
Questioned uncertainty that only wants to go.

Even if there is heartache with things found out
Giving birth to answers still wondered about
By doubt or belief in anything but
Everything that strengthens our determined love
I promise to stay true with a vow for all days
To always love you, with your mutual love I will stay.

MARTY KING AND SHENIKA SIMS: kissing the tip of a rainbow

MARTY KING

sometimes i kiss the tip of a rainbow
golden maturity feels so ocean fresh
traces of lavender calms the vibe of overbearing reality
though time continues to be rebellious and uncaring
you provide a blanket of warmth that rehabilitates my sanity
everything slows down
your beautiful smile on my life feels so good

SHENIKA SIMS

sometimes i kiss the tip of a rainbow
knowledge, wisdom, and understanding freshly waters the vines of my personal growth
the sage burning in the air of everchanging times relaxes me to calm cool contentment
though time continues to coldly resist and frigidly obstruct
you provide the throw blanket of warmth that rehabilitates my sanity
everything feels copable
your beautiful heart's seashell rhythm in my right ear feels so good

For the Living

FOR THE LIVING (ALREADY DEAD)

AS CREATIVITY WANES, MY SPIRIT, IT ALSO FADES ……

NO ROOM LEFT FOR LIVING
BUT I AM FAR TO YOUNG TO DIE
NO ENERGY LEFT FOR GIVING
BECAUSE MY RETURN ARE THE TEARS I CRY
WHISPERS ARE MY VOICE UNHEARD
FAINTER BREATHS YOU’LL NEVER BREATHE
AND THE LIFE THAT I AM LIVING
STILL WON’T ALLOW ME TO SEE

THE MEANINGS THAT ELUDE ME
ARE THE ANSWERS I SEEK TO FIND
THE DREAMS THAT DIE FOR ME EACH DAY
REMIND ME OF MY FLEETING TIME HERE
CAN’T OVERCOME THE WEATHER
HEAVY CLOUDS OBSTRUCT MY VIEW
FOLLOW MY HEART OR FOLLOW MY HEAD
NEITHER IS SURE OF WHAT TO DO ANYMORE

I LIVE MY LIFE FOR THE LIVING
FOR I AM ALREADY DEAD
NO RETURN FOR ALL THE GIVING
IN THE END IT IS AS I SAID,
ALREADY DEAD

…I TRY TO IMAGINE WHAT IT MUST BE LIKE TO LIVE
TRY TO REMEMBER IF I EVER REALLY DID
THE WASTED YEARS THAT GOT ME THROUGH
THE DARKEST FEARS I’VE EVER KNOWN
HAVEN’T BENEFITED ME IN ANY WAY
AND AS MY UNSPOKEN WORDS HAVE YET TO REVEAL
I’M LIKE A BOOK THAT HAS NEVER BEEN OPENED…

SO I LIVE MY LIFE FOR THE LIVING
BECAUSE I AM ALREADY DEAD
THE LESSON I LEARNED IS THE ONE THAT I’M GIVING
BECAUSE IN THE END IT IS AS I SAID, I’M ALREADY DEAD

where in the World

Where in the world does satisfaction dwell?
Tempt a poor with money once.
He will let out such a wail
Dissatisfied faces gather in a bunch.

I witnessed those drowned in greed
Ones I believed were a symbol of sanctity.
Though terrified to question their creed
Yet I know without desires exist no entity.

I stumbled one day in a forest
When looked up, displayed a competition.
Trees shot toward the sun, leaving behind the rest
They stifle, subjugate and obstruct without hesitation.

Rivers yet are quite manipulating
They carve a compelling story
Once acknowledged as calmed, now invading
Eroded, shoveled and marked its territory.

MY LOVE

Willpower

Cast me down, obstruct my ways.
Throw me down, into a maze.
Supress my ideas and my notions,
Let it be a complete commotion.
Dissuade me from trying!
Still baby, you can’t stop me from flying!
Just know that!
I’ll will, I’ll win, I’ll win….
Yeah…. I know I’ll win, i'll win, i'll win!

Look into my eyes, the spark is so bright.
My commitment and dedication,
My work is characterized by precision,
And a sedulous attention.
Hey, I don’t give up baby, I don’t quit!
For, I am a ball of fire!
I know, I am a survivor!
So, don’t just think, you’ll see me retire.
Coz I know! Yes, I know that,
I am born to win.
No matter what, how fast is the spin.

Get it to your head that,
 I’ll win, I’ll win, I’ll win
Yeah, I’ll win, I’ll win, I’ll win.

Ultramarine Blue Sky: a Personification

I lay prone above the surface of the earth:
a boundless expanse of ultramarine blue,
gazing at every living and nonliving thing,
the air so clean and pure.

Where are they?
cotton pieces that loiter around
like fluffy soft white bunnies
that scurry around
scattering and wandering playfully:
clouds that float with fleecy wings
oh.. I do not see them today!

It is a beautiful early evening;
As no clouds to obstruct my view,
from above, I could catch a glimpse of
many a poetic mind: dreamy and forlorn
lying on their back in the grass, here and there
within corners of the earth,
staring blank at my vast serene blue
when waves of woes were crashing
at the rocky edges of their mind -
and into a deep trance, they enter.

To ease their distress,
I whisper into the ears of the infinite seas,
to send gentle cool breeze their way
and wake them up from their reverie
with a gentle kiss in their gloomy eyes,
igniting embers of hope in their dreary mind.

As they open their eyes
and wake up from their trance
with many a fresh thoughts to pen -
their muse gets charged
by the charm of my
ultramarine blue inspiration: I become
their unbounded diary of blue pages,
as they now sprinkle their inspired ink
on my vast blue expanse with their
bright gleaming perceptive eyes.
