I Thought I Knew U

Its a long night, i had to work the late shift.
Calm and boring like any other nite.
You came in from your own work.
Bought a ticket and stepped aside.

Every night you do the same
Looking at me with that shy gaze
Suddenly u gave a smirk
I knew right then you weren't a jerk

Now I expected you every nite
Comming to see me
Making my nite very brite.
And you did every nite

Its busy then usual
Its the weeked so its usual
Here you come right on time
Buying your ticket and stepping aside

While u waited aside
rushing the customers out i tried
Finally u show up infront of me
Giving u my phone and address is what came from me

I couldn't waite
I had to call
When I did
U didn't answer at all

Your brother did
You were asleep
Poor thing
Hope u were thinking of me

One month later
We've been dating quite a bit
I fell for u hard
Nothing seemed amissed

Two months later
Something felt odd
Had to get checked out
I was pregnant oh my god

But you did right
Like a man I expected you too
you got on one knee
and asked me to marry you

Nine months of pregnancy
Here you still are
Trying to hold back tears
Oh you are definantly a dear

Here comes our pressious baby
Here it comes
You cry for joy
For now we have a little boy

He looks like u
but has my smile
He is so precious
our grinns turn to smiles

We get our own place
To raise our own
To be a family
In our own home

Everything was fine and happy
I was in lover's bliss
I felt it in our kiss
But then it ended just as quick

It ended quick
Oh god i was so blind
Something i must've missed
When along came that first hit

Your smile hardly shows
Your anger begins to grow
Im getting scared even more
The love you had is never more

Your anger turns to hate
Your hate turns to hits
Im so damn scared
Im not liking this one bit

I feard for our son
The one I thought you loved
Oh you still love him
But no longer love me

Im black and blue
Cause all the hitting
And strangling from you
I knew what i had to do

I had to go
I had to leave
The love is no more
I had to go on my own

I thought I knew you
I thought I did
I thought I found love
I almost thanked the heavens above

You're true colors showed
Now you live on your own
My heart is hurt
Cause all this time you were a jerk

Famous Last Line

                                     ORIGINAL POEM

(Loveliness ---Acrostic)

L~etting out a gasp, the young man stared at the pretty face.
O~pening the curtains, he noticed a
V~evil covering the beautiful
E~nearing visage of a young
L~ady who sat upon purple velvet cushions.
I~nite resting was the decor of the patterned interior of
N~eedlework with gold and purple threads.
E~nursing that the horses were well fastened, the footman
S~lid some cushioned steps before the carriage doors;
S~o that this adorable lady may step down. How gorgeous she looked!

                                                 NEW POEM

Famous Last Line:
"So that this adorable lady may step down. How gorgeous she looked"!
(Romanticism)

An adorable lady stepping down from the carriage,
How gorgeously stunning she looked!
Mesmerized and in awe, dumfounded and tongue-tied,
The young man stood as though in a trance.

As is the custom of the 1300s, it was "proper" for
This lady to wear a veil over her beautiful face.
Sid, the love-afflicted well clad gent,
Was determine in becoming the lady's beau.

The Footman having gone for a stroll,
And exquisite stores being opened to peruse,
The lady shopped to her heart's content;
Thus leaving Miss Antasia to carry her parcels.

Seizing the opportunity, the elegant gent
Gallantly stepped forward and offered to help.
Eying him under long lashes, esh curtesied as he bowed;
And allowed him to take the parcels out of her hand.

The carriage doors now locked gave Sid the chance,
To woo this sweet lady in becoming his bride.
What a romance was this tetetet, listening to words,
As Sid leaned against the carriage ardently serenating this maid.

He learnt her name, where she lived and how important her family was.
She in turn found out he was a banker and owned almost half of the towne.
Soon the families were merged, and formed a lasting business bond for all.
These were the days of Romanticism, the American way of yesteryear.

There Ain'T Nothin' Better Then a Cowboy Lover

He was her part time lover
even though he was her only one
A man you could love
But she’d never let him know…
she had a full time heart
Although her strings
had some wear and tear
throughout her years.

She wasn’t going to let him put her heart in his pocket.

No, she wasn’t about
to give her heart away
She’d play it cool.
Never let him see her fears
Pretend she was tough
Never cry or show any tears

He was a man,
raised right by his mother
He’d lay a rose upon her pillow
He was a man like no other
There ain’t nothin’ better
then a cowboy lover

His name was Jesse from Montana
He had skin the color of lightly roasted coffee
from being out in the sun so much
His smile, a bit crooked
made him look a bit mischievous,
in a teasing sort of manner
It could knock your socks off
if you gazed too long

She met him at a little café’ in Big Sky
leaning against the counter
like a long, tall drink of cool water
Boots, hat and all the makins'
of a real cowboy

She had slayed the paper dragons of her past
Put them all behind her
She was bold and brave;
asked for his number
which he willingly gave
with a smile, a little bit crooked,
a bit mischievous
in a teasing sort of manner

They’d cuddle in their blanket
under the stars and the moonlite
listening to Hank Williams songs
drinking coffee around their campfire
telling stories from their pasts;
laughing, snuggling
Before she’d go to sleep at night,
he’d kiss her cheek
and hold her close in his arms

One night as she lay in his arms,
he stroked her cheek
with his tender touch,
kissed her lips and held her tight

He said, “What would you do if I asked
"Ask what”, she said?
"Little lady, do you know I love you,
would you kindly be my wife”?

When he said that to her that
wonderful nite under the stars
she realized...

She wanted him, to put her heart in his pocket

That was the night
she gave her heart away

  She wasn’t playin’ it cool
She let him see her fears
She wasn’t really all that tough
Then, she cried and showed him her tears

He was a real man,
raised right by his mother
He laid a rose upon her pillow
He really was a man like no other
Nope, there sure ain’t nothin’ better
then a cowboy lover

Love Be Not Proud

Beneath this insane feeling of rejection- i still love u/
Beyond these walls of my crazy imagination- i still search for u/
Letting u go was da worst decision of my life/
I don wanna accept da fact dat u no longer in my life/
Day and nite i dwell in yr world/
I know this aint rite but what am i to do when u no longer exist in my life/
Time is at stand still over here/
Wish i could see whats going on over there/
Many said i wont cope wifout u and they were rite/
So it.s clear i'm dead because of u- my days are nites/
Even a blind man can see my pain/
As wel as a numb person can feel my pain/
Cupid was shootin me wif yr arrows so my blood was red and white/
Now i hate dat day were everythin around is just red and white/
Don blame me coz i tried and GOD knows i tried/
This not bout me tryin to gain pity/
But it.s bout realising that i was wrong/
Voices whispered dat it was too late/
But what kind of a men will i be if i don settle this score/
Come back to me so there wont be nothin to lose but so much to gain/
You are not dead to me so give me back my sunny days and take away this rain/
You are da reason for me to be alive/
You are da gift from da heavens above/
Wish i could puzzle up my broken for u to home/
So in the meantime u can house the home in my soul/
U are mighty to me and i thank da Almighty indeed/
U are still mistery to me although i've been wif u in need/
I still see u in da eyes of loved ones/
I still defend u in da haters mind/
I dreamt a dream bout u in my dreams/
I still hear yr voice in da melodies/
I still feel yr peace in all da harmony/
I broke my compass but it still leads me to yr direction/
I'm broke ngaphakathi and u da last piece to my completion/
Il rather die than live wifout u coz dat be nothin/
Give me this moment so i can cherish every second wif something/
I wont apologies coz i already did/
I wont continue diggin this grave coz i'm into deep/
I walked thousand miles for u,feet hurting/
I knelt everyday praying, clothes torned/
Yet GOD gave me grew skies so yrs can be blue/
Took u away from my life so u can grace another life/
I blamed u for every lil thing in my life/
Hate is a diseases but u are da cure/
Yet i still say u did this to me so LOVE BE NOT PROUD

Night Flight

"Night Flight"

the sky is
an open eye
blue as the
Orpheus ocean

clear in the
shallows' grit
naivety irritates it
birthing hard gems

it calls in
from beneath
the undertow
a new dawn

Morpheus deep
bipolar colours
unrecognisable
hues and tones

true tides
swiftly turn and
show themselves
for what they are

fair weather

in dark and light
there are monsters
always somewhere
casting their rods

fishing
for ulterior victory
displeased,
viscerally calm

hear their believable
impassioned pleas for peace
bought for the price
of freedom

there is no need
to bargain for bait
the fish swim to the hook
like well rehearsed sheep

the sky like a hawk watching
grey and heavy hooded
removed from it all
ghostly like a ghost

still and unobserved
watching, waiting
for humanity to call
the most feared

and loved,
in us all

it watches
day and night
it watches
us all

acknowledging
our slow fall

watching sad warriors
waiting
like sitting ducks
for the perfect storm

to close the call
to close
its eyelids
once and for all

the sky watches
it watches us all

it dreams of peace
to sleep without
the heart loaded
as a broken weapon

trigger ready, deadly
the calibre
of man,
well oiled

their noise is
desultory
no function
no form

but they are trigger ready
deadly, the calibre of man

well oiled

Get It Straight

GET IT STRAIGHT BBL

Let the wind be still
I wanna speak below my breathe
Let d breeze blow with ease
I want to sneeze but in peace

Let the beautiful flower blossom in red
I wanna speak and be heard
I'm the head and I lead the herd
So listen to what I've read and heard

The oceans accused the lake of been calm and too quiet
Ever told you that we only marvel at you bounds but disgusted at your unrest

I give credits to the rats that race, graze, brace and play but all on the land
Shame on you bats that grace the sky in the dark clouds, forming and copy the birds in the nite
Yet you seek refuge and lay still on the tree during the day and you all struggle tu hide your face chucking into one another.

You live a fake live of rose flowers
You spread a colourful red garment during the day. Making us believe all is well with you
Yet you shiver in pain and suffer gruesome loneliness in the merciless cold nite.
This you do day in day out

You accuse them of being too quiet
Yet you harbour offensive smell behind your voice
The world only know peace when you speak no word
Our happiness only blossom when you mind your business

You call him a rock
But he melts at the thought of you
You call him a gold sculpture. Yet the rain wash off the clay legs as he fades out
You brag you feed him flesh and fat
How come he vomits shaft and bones

Lie not to us and deceive yourself no more
If you can't make me happy
Please take not my Joy away from me
If you can't run her race for her
Please don't drag her along the path
If you think it's a huddle
Remember our time starts differently

If the red ribbon is your target tu cross
She's got a future beyond across
If you race to win the cup
Her pace is to stay atop

Ruin not her happiness for me
She's the Lady I value
She's the Lady I cherish
She's the lady of my dream
She's the lady I treasure
A rare gem beyond the coast
Pearl of value
Lady of honour.

Listen not to the bleats
You're not meant for their stables
But at the tables with the kings
Dressed in regalia of the royals
Your space is secured
Not up for grab
Not up for none but you.
Tell them tu cut the crap.

Lost In Your Thoughts

LOST IN YOUR THOUGHTS

Let not my spring go dry
Let not my sunshine set at dawn
Let not my joy fade at its peak
And my candle never be put out in the wind

Let my brightness rule the day
Crown my night with those sparkling stars
Let the moon be enthroned for my night
Let the light overwhelm the shadows of my plight
And my heart filled with delight.

Cast no shadow upon my path
That same road I've tread with your happiness being my lead
Let not my night be of the grave silence
That same night filled with sweet savour of music to my soul

Let not this day end in dryness
I can only tell of the nights you drenched me in the pool of your love and affection
Where's that cloud of passion with which you alwaz wrap me
Those eyes that grin with insoluble desires for every moment with me
Those long arms that grace me with warmth embrace

I longed for all these tonight and none I saw in you
I searched for that loving you and I never saw it
I stared into your eyes to search that my loving baby pet, but i never saw my beautiful angel
I stretched my hand out long, but you were too far to reach

This was a night I never dreamt
A night I never longed for
A night too long to cross
A night without your smile to sail thru the rough nite.

My Babypet, I was completely lost tonight
I couldn't see the loving you I'm used to
I hope this hour will soon fade away like the dew
And that radiating smiles filled with glamour and passion, happiness that shakes me to the marrow like a tremor

I hope the new day bring back my dearest, the loving and lovely charming goddess I came for.
Goodbye to the you of last nite my darling angel
Welcome to a bright new day
Waiting to hug my charming cutie tuday as the darkness unwinds from the sky.

I can't wait to hear you remind me of how much you love me
Hold the apologies, I already said that on your behalf a million times
When you smile for me today
I'll let you know that I love you with my breathe
Because you light my world ??

Call It a Comeback

I won't ask one question,
just stab my pen in
and draw out the ink,
nothing will stop my flow
with crimson words
and chunky verses.

The night is dark
and streaked with grey.
Mist swirls around my ankles
like a lovers caress.
The moon is up there
  but hidden
         a true hunter's nite.
I walk my lands
       enjoying the stillness,
                 ignoring the living,
they're just here to distract,
             not worth my time.

Fog rolls in
     like sheets of sheer fabric,
                  excluding me,
                       cuddling me.
I can feel the moisture
  building up
      on my skin,
slicking down my body hair,
smearing the blood
coating me.
It's trying to cleanse me
but it won't,
                     can't allow it,
       I'm enjoying this too much.

This is just my brake
from the hunt,
a day to let myself
                  grow hollow.
I see a silhouette
of my castle up on the cliff
The grounds below me
   are finally springing back.
My gnarled trees
               flourishing,
the bushes are flowered
               and spiky,
still a bit drab
but that's how i like it.

Licking the platelets
        from my fingers
I keep moving
           (just like my quill)
gliding across my parchment
filling in the blanks
                 with silence
                    too loud to hear,
too quiet to resist,
ripping into the foundation
hard enough to stop civilization,
making them wait
for what I have to say.

Ash falls before my eyes
as the masses wait,
they don't realize
I have nothing to say,
I'm just here to stir the cauldron
              get the juices boiling.
Havoc is my creation,
                 my spawn,
                 my lover,
the taste that sits in the back
           of my mouth.
Can you hear me
      screaming in the back
           of your head,
saying the things
         you dare not think about
and leaving that
   metallic taste
           in your mouth
as your lip bleeds.

Jinxed

This day for me started out a little jinxed
The one person that I wanted to see
I never got to meet
Than it's parent teachers nite
My palms are sweating
Cause my mom decides to come
My mood is filled with anticipation
I want to walk into a room
and just have him sitting there
      Alone
But when i'm looking he never appears
     and i'm disappointed
My only option for credit recovery
Is to dance a hip hop dance
and within myself find self discovery
But I can't identify my heart in this matter
                So I try to defy
Against all kinds of helping hands
                 and guidance
I don't know how many times their going to say
If you screw this up your throwing your life away
                  I pretty much know this
So hearing it over and over again
                         Just made me sink lower
So now this is the last straw
With a mad look on my face I walk out the door
I haven't see my guy, My mom won't pick up (Never good)
and my life seems messed up
So I left with my friends and caught the bus
                                Got home too early
                                   Feeling beat up
                                      Ironically
My mom's in bed she didn't even go to the meeting
I wake up the next morning and open the paper
A shooting had occurred where I worked
                                                            Just after I left
I would've have been there if my day hadn't been so jinxed
                                                        Thanks faith for saving me
                                                            I really appreciated your Generosity

The Mocking-Bird

He did n’t know much music
When first he come along;
An’ all the birds went wonderin’
Why he did n’t sing a song.

They primped their feathers in the sun,
An’ sung their sweetest notes;
An’ music jest come on the run
From all their purty throats!

But still that bird was silent
In summer time an’ fall;
He jest set still an’ listened,
An’ he would n’t sing at all!

But one night when them songsters
Was tired out an’ still,
An’ the wind sighed down the valley
An’ went creepin’ up the hill;

When the stars was all a-tremble
In the dreamin’ fields o’ blue,
An’ the daisy in the darkness
Felt the fallin’ o’ the dew,—

There come a sound o’ melody
No mortal ever heard,
An’ all the birds seemed singin’
From the throat o’ one sweet bird!

Then the other birds went Mayin’
In a land too fur to call;
Fer there warn ’t no use in stayin’
When one bird could sing fer all!

Mockingbird Sings Again -- My answer and tribute!

So sweet were those purty notes
hitting the misery we totes'
floatin' upon nite's sweet airs
vanishing our worries and cares

The other birds went their way
to other lands so very far away
the mockerbird chose to sing on
with all their beautiful songs

With each and every rendition
making beautiful the condition
increasing the beauty of song
singing the day and nite long

Soon the world heard this sound
moon and stars beamed on down
other birds flocked back around
song notes joined sky and ground

Now a melody stirs man's heart
divine poetic notes from start
from a bird singin' and pleasin'
gifted us for a joyful reason!

Robert J. Lindley, 07-28-2014

Thank you Peter. Your poem and tribute to Frank L. Stanton's magnificent
poem (Jest A-Wearyin' Fer You by Frank Lebby Stanton )steeled my resolve to
man up and tackle this which I had previously so feared to do. FACE YOUR
FEAR, MY DAD ALWAYS SAID. I sat down, asked my Muse for her help
and this popped out....
