In the forrest of metal trees
Tribes they sleep beneath the leaves
In the shadows of forgotten ways
They forage throughout the days
~~~
Wearing armor made of cloth
They race to find what they've lost
In search of memories from the past
Days gone by they can never get back
~~~
Some in search of fortune and fame
For others though its not the same
In the forrest, is where they'll remain
Until death comes and makes her claim
~~~
Some succeed in their wayward journey
Others get lost, burnt, and buried
~~~
Seeking shelter from the cold
In huts not made from rock or stone
But still the warriors struggle on
To live here though the days have gone
~~~
Yes in the forrest of metal trees
Their is a tribe beneath the leaves
Some are young and some are old
Some will make it, Some will go,
Some will fake it, still it shows
The struggle is real for those
Who live down below.
R.K.H
These three magic rocks, I hold tight in my hand
Rolling them over, now, what could I plan?
Leave my reality? A new opportunity?
How should I use them? The power they hold...
Can they take me away, as I have been told
To magical places, ...to far-away lands?..
But oh the dilemma, how can I choose?
A place where I could leave all my worries behind?
As I stood there and pondered, under a star filled sky
Searching my heart, to find peace of mind
One star caught my eye, as it dangled so bright...
And I knew.... I must visit the heavens tonight!
Closing my eyes, I made a wish on the stones
In a gust of wind, I was no longer alone
Suddenly appeared was a heavenly tree
Up through the branches were stair steps for me!
I climbed up the limbs, as it reached for the sky
I climbed and clung, as I climbed up so high..
Below the horizon stretched and grew
Till the earth swung free in a tide of blue
Weary and stiff, but fiercely proud
I swung at last to a ledge of a cloud
I sat and I looked at the earth that I know
Then realized the troubles that live down below
When I'd rested enough from my head to crown
I left my soft loft and I climbed the tree down
I see things much clearer, from up high in the air
I'm now super-hero who followed a star
In my pocket, the rocks that used to be there
Remind me that children need more than a tear
To look to the sky when their world seems unfair
If their worries come back and a nightmare is there
I'll quickly escort them up heavenly stairs....
Super-Hero Contest
Resolution…
Another cliché ridden promise to be broken
One more silent thought; the words remain unspoken
But still I make another resolution
More to myself than any other…another resolution
To be kept or to be broken
Another promise left unspoken…resolution
The time is right the time is now
Sixty minutes left to change
This time of night feeling so run down
And unable to re-arrange that feeling
I’ve counted my blessings
Washed misfortunes blood from my hands
Repented for all of my sins
Bowed to my knees a mortal man
…Another cliché ridden promise to be broken
One more silent thought; the words remain unspoken
But still I make another resolution
To be kept or to be broken
Another promise left unspoken…resolution
Twelve Thirty-One of Twenty Twelve
I am counting down the hours
Ten past Five, then Five past Ten
And then Eleven bells will ring…
But I can’t make it to the midnight hour
Can’t ring in the fresh New Year
Can’t live down the daily stresses
And conquer the things I fear
And as the clock at once strikes midnight
I hear the tolling of the bell
But my eyes remain unopened
As I try to break the spell
I give up that which breaks me
I have to clear my head and heart
Find a new direction and let it take me
Before the past tears me apart
Another year has came and went
In recent memory, one of the worst
Again, as mortal man I must repent
Pay the cost for those I’ve cursed
…Another cliché ridden promise to be broken
One more silent thought, the words remain unspoken
But still I make another resolution
To be kept or to be broken
Another promise left unspoken…resolution
Close my eyes and make a wish
As the lights all fade to black…
And in that silence the truth is born…my resolution
A new song to celebrate the month of Love. This is for all those who have lost loved ones. Blessings.
Without you
It's not easy trying to live down here without you
I have all these feelings and memories
Deep emotions that won't let me go
Deep emotions that you already know
Life goes on, even if we're stuck in reverse
Life goes on, no matter how much it hurts
And one of the craziest things we have to accept
Is that the one we miss will never be seen again
In this life... In this life...
In this time... In this time...
No more running... No more running...
No reasons or rhymes... No reasons or rhymes...
Because...
I... I have to make it through without you
(Without you, without you)
Oh, I... I have to make it through without you
(Without you, without you)
Without you
(Without you)
And I... I have to make my own dreams come true
(Without you, without you)
Oh, I... I have to live my life, my whole truth
(Without you, without you)
Without you
(Without you)
I hold on to my dreams, my dreams
You're the best my world has seen, has seen
I know you're real and here with me, with me
Even though you're unseen, unseen
Life will still go on without you
(Without you)
But I don't see how it will be of any use
(Any use to me)
All I want is to hold you in my arms again
(Hold you close)
All I want is our dream to never ever end
(Never-ending dreams with me)
In this life... In this life...
In this time... In this time...
No more running... No more running...
No reasons or rhymes... No reasons or rhymes...
Because...
I... I have to make it through without you
(Without you, without you)
Oh, I... I have to make it through without you
(Without you, without you)
Without you
(Without you)
And I... I have to make my own dreams come true
(Without you, without you)
Oh, I... I have to live my life, my whole truth
(Without you, without you)
Without you
(Without you)
Because...
I... I have to make it through without you
(Without you, without you)
Oh, I... I have to make it through without you
(Without you, without you)
Without you
(Without you)
And I... I have to make my own dreams come true
(Without you, without you)
Oh, I... I have to live my life, my whole truth
(Without you, without you)
Without you
(Without you)
He had a perpetual angry sneer
A lip that curled and an attitude that said
Back off
Expressed dissatisfaction with you
before you reached his eye level
you could feel his disgust
He expected the worst in everyone
Substandard treatment, racism, sexism,
and all the other isms
He had been taught by the best
that the world is horrible and
people are con-artists
it served him well in his quest
to live down to the failure
his mother always said he would be
His grandmother tried to build him up
and love him, but she died when he
was a mere babe
So he lived down the the expectations
of a mother who had always expected the
worst, seeing racism and sexism in everyone
Until she was old, then she say
ageism and spoke to him in even worst ways
treating him like the dog she had always told him
he was
It was despicable to see.
His angels were horrified
But they could not undo the damage
of a sad and angry mother
who never wanted a child in the first place.
EAGLES ENCOUNTER
Mi was doing my nite rounds..
then was a student at a local varsity
when i had an encounter with them eagles
they offer me peace...salaams..
but they were really trying
to appear nonthreatening
one of them asked mi a weird question
...how did you do it..
i perceived they were alluding
to the gift of sight..
dilly dallying around but they are..
all ears..i mention the fall..
suddenly there by my side scaring mi
or is it intimidating..
...what do you know of it...
only what you tell me..i replied
impatient eagles.. hard stances taken..
run to the USA even there floods
overtake thee..
and operative cleantone caps you..
The eagles aren't that bad
and they blend well with mortals..
This is Africa and immortals
walkin around aiint no big deal
we roll our eyes.. turn a blind eye..
We aint like them Americans
who have an obsession for the..
weird.. weird stuff of life..
miracles so rare in their land
they have to invent superheros
down here weird is the norm
and every one is given rite of passage
for this is tanateru.. this is gods acre..
and immortals have a rite of way
its the mortals who live down here..
you should watch out for...
the eagles land and leave
at times they snatch
the chicks from the hen..
and hubby rooster..
they don't bother us much
even kids don't fear them..
for they like to fly high..
and if i was an angel
wouldn't i protect them day and nite...
and if i were a bomb... i would never
explode..for the eagles landed-
and none was too wise...
KIRINYAGA FREE STATE..
Nautica --By David Lustrup 2012
The moon kisses the sea
With a million points of light
Galaxies in motion
On your surface shine tonight
Your salty water,
An elixir of dreams,
Fluid flowing ether,
Through starlight's glowing beams
Delirium drops and hallucinations,
This gathering of fish, and the crabs, and crustaceans
And all of the beings that live down below,
Enchanted they sway to your ebb and your flow
Gracefully they dance in this briny masquerade
As phosphorescent shrimp light the seaweed promenade
Their gowns flow slowly like serpentine sails
As they dance in moonlight to the song of the whales
Form:
Once, we were all sojourned learners awakened
seeking a home and some safer haven
taking we wanted in our misbehaving.
Foreigners, aliens, wanderlust trail blazers with roots
settling on this land serene and mute
staked a claim with much dispute.
The natives here, the first true Americans untouched
accepted all until we betrayed their open trust
and with time and weapons the bodies fell with mighty gusts
as we pushed them down repeatedly with our land lust.
Today, so few remain of that simple race
relegated to a reserved unseen patrolled place
as hunters and settlers took their place.
Too few of us can say honestly we are unstained
as the original people barely survived and remain
deprived of liberty and freedoms in another's domain.
Today there is so much less of field and wood
never once was it questioned if we should
as we spoke need of the greater good.
Raped, the land, the rivers and the streams
stealing away the hopes and natural scenes,
where is the American dream?
Many people in this world remain rare
each wanting more than their share
some taking it without a care.
Build me a fire deep in the shaded tree woods
let me keep it burning as long as i could
with smoke rise in memory of the nation that stood.
Let it send a message of hope, dreams and prayer
a question without answer of God's despair
at how we live down here.
Shed a tear, for every fear
now deprived of natives, buffalo, rabbit, deer,
too frequent the story reappears
as history repeats itself in places far and near
ever the same story throughout the years.
And what is love then?
can you tell me my friend?
is it something I can find?
is it some sort of spell?
has it be seen by anyone?
does it live anywhere?
is it only for the chosen ones?
or for any mongrel on earth?
And what is love then?
I'm feeling a little bit lost
nobody can really explain
the meaning of that word
is it something to achieve?
is it something we can score?
is it some sort of mystery
that I need to solve?
And what is love then?
does it even exist?
or is is just a ghost
crying on the street
dragging heavy chains
calling for its kids
regretting every decision made
begging for mercy?
And what is love then?
come on give me a hand
is it a name carved on a tree
or a heart drawn on the sand?
is it what I feel for my kid?
is it what I felt for man?
or is it only a sweet mirage
and the biggest cruelest scam?
And what is love then?
I really want to know
does it live up high?
does it live down low?
did I drop it by accident?
and it's covered with snow?
do you really know about it?
or just like me... you're not sure at all?
Jessica
Oh hello there! Again!
Aah!
Yes!
You there!
Such lovely young pretty plaything, a female?
I presume?
With the beautiful expensive suit!
I am just seeing you there like a dream of crimson and horror!
Oh sorry!
At my age, your mind starts to wander.
And a Wanderer I am!
A wanderer in pursuit!
Where are you going my dear,
boy or girl I don’t care.
Can I follow you there?
I stay very near?!
Oh don’t mind me, I’m just a wanderer you see!
I am just bringing light to the world
a bringer of light a bearer of sight if you will.
Oh is it?
Is true you just live down the avenue?
I see!
Can I walk with you a little, please?
This is a mighty fine place you have here,
a beautiful quaint little town,
quaint and clear…
all nestled back in the valley.
Hummm!
Yes. Indeed!
No one can hear you screa-rrr-I mean
no one can hear you in a quaint little place!
What is that?
Oh!
Yes! Indeed!
I’m sorry you may be worried
but don’t you fear I’m quite harmless,
don’t you see?
What are you seeing?
Oh, that!
that’s just ravens wings
tucked neatly near a bone-white spine
and onyx claws!
Nothing to see, here…
Oh, my fingers?
Oh so long, sleek sharp like razors
strong to rip you apart.
Sorry sorry, pardon me!
No need to run!
No need to struggle
Daggers slicing your flash!
Oh! I’m sorry did I mean to hurt you!
I am just passing through a wanderer you see.
A light bringer of fire and rage!
On my way to the Detonation Fields
Feeling my way through this blasted world.
Laughing at the powers that be!
Wait for the wormwood to fly…
Oh! Don’t worry about me!
Can’t you see I’m not staying,
just passing through!
I bring you fear and loathing.
But don’t you worry
I am everything!
Everywhere!
I know you are alone
but come closer,
a little closer,
please.
So, I can see you in this empirical twilight.
No need to struggle….
My fingers are strong, indeed…
Tightening, as you struggle to breathe
Can’t you speak?
No, I guess your crimson mouth speaks,
NOT!
Don’t struggle so…
I’m just a wanderer, you know…
I have such sights to show…
So come with me to the Holocaust!
Can you feel the infernos heat…
Hear the damned scream.
Sweet music!
Don’t you hear it too?
OH, sooooo sweet!
Ah YES!
Yes…
indeed.
