sitting on the porch with a bowl of cookie crisp
reminiscing about the times when everything was cheap
sitting on the porch with a bowl of cap' n crunch
thinking about the times when one radio station was all you needed
sitting on the porch with a bowl of king vitamin
missing arcade rooms and backyard candy stores
sitting on the porch with a bowl of froot loops
wondering what happened to all the smiling colors
sitting on the porch with a bowl of frosted flakes
wanting to go to duff's after church on sunday
sitting on the porch with a bowl of apple jacks
thinking of gary gnu, muffy, grover, and letterman
sitting on the porch with a bowl of rice krispies
fiending for an early episode of the original muppet show
sitting on the porch with some crispy wheats 'n raisins
realizing i overdid it and i'm out of flav o rich
Ay Chihuahua what a hot enchilada
Beguiling in her Dallas Cowboys letterman jacket
Flicker starlight in her eyes angel in beauty
Raven waves of silk long hair
Will torture your soul for just a small taste of her
A girly girl born to embraces her femininity, but a free spirited mujer,
Burning the darkness riding her Unicorn
Through the calm majestic presence of the night
As music follows through the sky with a thirst of her poetry
A woman with lots of passion, sweet wishes, and wings for the night

Letterman
Poem
Lionel Derbyshire
Write Letterman
One hundred lines
In your letter
Write it better
Word's wayward may miss their mark's
And disconnect our rooftop moment's.
Pick and nick at everything you have seen.
Writing plenty can be empty.
Love lost I cannot win you back
It's a ache it's a heartache.
Drowing for the word's but
Sorrow in our fairytales.
It's a ache it's a headache.
Pale dry lines and wet crying eyes.
Just me and blunt paper.
Write harder Letterman..
Write with your heart instead
Dress it up in paper and
Pen the memory's
Without regrets.
"Hey Rea
I fear future dreams about you
I have to be honest with you..
When we were ecstatic
In those lovely sunset day's.
Sitting atop the billboard
Looking down
At the growing neon city
Sipping coffee .. time buzzing by
The small people.
Running up and down
In locked street's.
Not knowing where
They going to ..
Not knowing where ..
They coming from.
All in quick paced hurry's.
The people and their pain's
My advantage of being with you"
Then thud ! suddenly..
Gracefully you left me behind
I can't write anymore ..
It was us..
Marry me a 100 times ?
I write on the billboard..
But.. sadly
Our line's abort.
Your life cut short
Hundred lines will not..
Bring you back.
Our community is holding a beauty pageant
Which is not that uncommon, right?
But the difference is, this pageant ain't for girls
Hang on, try to picture this sight
To be eligible to enter our little competition
You must be breathing just a tad
But here's a thing that's just a little bit different
To enter you must possess great abs!
Fortunately I'm blessed with a body to die for
So the others won't stand a chance
When it comes to the evening gown competition
So stunning, a sure winner at a glance
The thrill and excitement just boggles my mind
The big networks will all be there
David Letterman will likely interview the winner
You'll be famous and known everywhere
Right on schedule, the alarm clock goes off
Ending my thrilling little adventure
As I get up, yawn, and stagger past my mirror
I flash my pearly white dentures!

I'm feeling rather silly today
Not that that's so unusual
But I'm feeling even more silly than usual
Read on and methinks
You'll understand exactly what I mean
Have thoughts of what it would be like
To be a ravishing female
Rather than this hunk of male virility
That I am now
Of course I would be an absolute stunner
With a body to die for
Must stop... I'm getting all squirmy
How about if I became the ruler
Of a large African country and signed into law
That sex is officially permitted
In public places as long as you're wearing
A Lone Ranger mask
Oops! Methinks I may be stepping over the line
Alright, how about becoming a
Standup comedian with my own late night show
Now that's more up my alley
Good thing Leno and Letterman
Decided to call it quits
Guess they knew I was about to take over!
Perhaps I should go lie down a spell
Hypnagogic spell immediately cast
overpowering drug induced state fast
overcome even those who just woke
prolonged narcotic effect could last
bajillion years (hyperbole to wake
any lil lulled reader) superfast.
Before he/she succumbs without blame
impossible mission monseigneur or dame
to break loose against buttressed bed frame
magnetic pull overpowers
superman/woman and/or lame
nope, I can't rattle off any specific name
only no man, woman, nor child can tame
overpowering urge greater than whatshername?
Ja Sleeping Beauty, or similar
facsimile thereof within eye blink
shutters lids with soundless clink
quite elementary ma rinky dink
poem, but would ya expect me,
an arrogant, defiant, haughty,
career punster who doth hoodwink
matt er of fact Scott
tush trumpeting ratfink,
meanwhile, I will not let thee think,
lest ye become mettle some as hot zinc.
And what thwart my feeble
attempt to bewitch and beguile
quite aware ye probably reedsy
to spew glippy glop gloopy bile
spurring lifesaving recourse
insane asylum, cuz bedlam
forces thee to dial,
and splutter exhibiting harried style
swiftly tailored demeanor
hooping I get just desserts,
and be condemned at trial
within interim and meanwhile...
Yours truly will exalt inside
unit b44 downing
one after another
B52 eventually died
(jettisoning these lovely bones)
at least say to himself,
while gratefully dead, he tried
to curry lunacy, (albeit harmless)
across the the web, world wide
reading experience this
letterman being your lucky charm guide
into outer limits of twilight zone
ha... ha... ha... no place for ye
to run and hide,
which bolsters me prejudice and pride
without sense and/or sensibility
(think Jane Austen),
whose ghost would chide,
one twenty first century wordsmith,
who seeks a bartered bride

I'm a very impatient guy
I'm squeezing this little ball
It really makes me mad
My middle name is period, last name T
I'm a full-time bodyguard
Secretarial work is out
I look from this to the potential
Inventory of unrealised dreams
Intelligent mining
Intelligent transportation
The energy internet
Flexible electronics
Intelligent vehicle technology
Classical music with Johnny Greenwood
Canadian studies
Ric Flair's biography
We watch the international football
My Chinese brother-in-law
Gets excited when England's opposition
Have a chance to score
What's that about
I'm
Squeezing
This little ball
There is a piece of me, left in that little town, a square of friendly faces,
where furrowed brows of no one famous, work to make their dollars stretch
not far beneath the white crowned peaks ...
There is a piece of me, left in that old house, tall and proud
Beneath the sun in fields of green ...where horses ran...
A piece of me, still holds the reins and feels the wind against my skin ...
There is a piece of me, in that old school
Miss Marmalade.....(she had red hair), a voice of velvet, soft and sure
Her breathless verse of morning stars of Keats and Frost,
and unchecked tears...and clandestine trysts with old Shakespeare
There is a piece of me, reclining under the elms,
where a broken heart still casts a spell
A letterman jacket, of dark gold wool, his leather sleeves, steel blue eyes, ...
skies of love, and holding hands, football teams, and autumn leaves
There is a piece of me, that I still keep within my heart..
.....within my sleep.......within my dreams
