I Am Just a Scarecrow

I am just a scarecrow
but my life is now quite dire,
they have decided this year
to put me on a fire.

Who is this chap named Guy Faulkes
I do not want to be him
I love to stand in my field
and scare upon a whim.

I'm very good at my job
I scare away the crows
and I didn't mind the robin
who nested in my nose,

and then there's Jenny wren
who's snuggled in my pocket
and now they want to set me alight
like they do the rockets.

Why cant they make this new guy
and leave me well alone
he wont mind being set alight
for he has got no home

they made me years and years ago
I;m really wearing well
I've a feather in my hat
and a chiming bell.

I'm feeling rather sad today
as you can understand,
I've a belly full of straw
and gloves for my hands

what will the farmer do
to scare the birds away
if i'm not here to shoo
them from his crops each day.

Do you know what I wish
that it should rain all day
On the date November
then they'll stay away

but if it should not rain
I'll hide in the barn
for I cant stand the pain
of leaving this old farm.

If only they could spruce me up
I can get the kiddies on my side
new neckerchief around my neck
in my field i'd take some pride.

When farmer Jones, he made me
he thought me rather good
so why has he forsaken me
to burn me up like wood,

I stood about on this field
forty year or more
I know which birds to scare
I really know the score

oh' farmer Jones.dont do this
your trust i;m sure I'll earn
I've been out in this field so long
i;m sure to green to burn.

The little children love me
especially my friend Nell
for if they came for me today
she'd hide me down the well.

The day is here, the time has come
the party spirits high
hot dogs, toffee apples and fireworks
waiting to light the sky

But wait the children saved me
with a bundle of old clothes
some welly boots, a turnip head
and a carrot for his nose

they stood about in a circle
and heres the reason why
when nobody  was looking
they made a chap called guy,

so..my life's been saved today
I can live without fear
well that is of course
till Nov 5th next year.

white sky... low the clouds
winter... stuck in a drift again
spring... where are you...
~~~
the bobbin dipper flies
below our secret rivers
spring... summer delight
~~~
ring ouzel... moorland
high craggy tors... upland moors
birding adventure
~~~
the avocet
fenland treasure... coastal dream
no spade required
~~~
harbinger of spring
declining population
drives birders cuckoo
~~~
be proud... sing aloud
needs no invitation
jenny wren is spring...
~~~
hedgerows... tinkling bells
charms of goldfinches rejoice
inviting springtime
~~~
a flash... gone... dived
a kingfisher fishing
the river ripples
~~~
look high to the sky
skylarks sing a challenge
give us back our land
~~~
hope... no... it must be
put nature on a rostrum
give back her freedom
~~~
look... oceans waves
on shores display their wisdom
ere we could read it
~~~
rock pools... origins
with good intent life explodes
evolution... real
~~~
our fate in our hands
as is... we will all perish
give nature a chance

Natures Natural Music

as natures music fills the early morning woodland,
i feel its rapturous intent, to add movement to life.
the tiny Jenny wren, a virtuoso, powerful its song!
nature composes rhapsodies, all life begs for more.

i feel its rapturous intent, to add movement to life.
a breeze picks up the beat with gentle flowing gusts.
nature composes rhapsodies, all life begs for more.
all of the woodland life now dances to the rhythm.

a breeze picks up the beat with gentle, flowing gusts.
a charm of colourful goldfinches adds their tinkling rifts!
all of the woodland life now dances to the rhythm.
natures orchestra now mellows, wood life near to norm.

a charm colourful of goldfinches add their tinkling rifts
a lesser spotted woodpecker tap dancing with its beak
natures orchestra now mellows, wood life returns to norm
my heart follows knowing i'll be back tomorrow morn

all life now ready as the wren sings the final refrain.
the tiny Jenny wren, a virtuoso, powerful is its song!
another day, the sleeping woodland life, all stirring,
as natures music fills the early morning woodland.

Premium Member Spring

The Meadowlarks are here in pairs,
That means that Spring is in the air.

The Jenny Wren flits about
Trying for to find a house.

The Sparrows, naughty as can be
Tore hers up last year you see.

The Sparrows now do know the pain
The Starlings their new house did claim.

There was a time the Bob Whites came
I counted thirty-three,

And then one day to my dismay
The hunters drove them all away.

But now and then it seems I hear
The echoes of their call so clear.

And at my feeders you can find
Fuzzy Critters of all kinds.

A Rabbit from a grassy patch,
Sneaks in when the birds have passed.

A Vole as brazen as can be,
Slipped up and stole some seeds from me.

The one that really made me smile,
Was a Chipmunk with her brood close by.

She made herself at home you see,
Then planted sunflowers seeds for me.

And when her chore here was through
She went somewhere else to plant seeds too.

I thank You God for sending me
This time of year that we call Spring.

Haiku - Winters Tribulations

HAIKU - WINTERS TRIBULATIONS

~~~~~~
bold... the jenny wren
brazenly makes itself heard
twelve grams of pleasure
~~~
the starling mimics
its feathers dusted heaven
iridescent hues
~~~
ornithologists
bird watchers, spotters, twitchers
bird carers all
~~~
o the winter cold
fingers shrivel... nigh frozen
home... warm... hot achs... thawed
~~~
fickle winter days
hazel bloomed three months early
no autumn nuts
~~~
the wrath of winter
ice sheets... snow blankets... cold beds
resilient wildlife
~~~
the devil thwarted
hark... you'll not beat me... it swore
winter -50... spring hiding
~~~
spring sprites play music
snowdrops shake off cold winter
rivers free to flow
~~~
winter... sunny days
steals the warmth... in vain
sunlight nurtures
~~~
fresh growth braves the cold
green tips protrude... seeking light
summer warmth awaits

RAPID RHYME

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
rapid rhyme
running out of time
spring raving
goodbye, winter waving
all flora seeking
above ground peeking
spring warmth dependent
on the sun resplendent
rapid rhyme
Jenny Wren sings in time
flies busy
bees dizzy
early cherry bloomed
every branch festooned
spring now weeves
hiding summer up her sleeves
springs raved waiting for a cuckoo
made do with a doves coo coo
rapid now near out of rhyme
woot woot its summertime
