Enslaved

Drained of every drop of pride she cups her hands in vain
As eyes seek to escape her haunting gaze.
Gaunt and pale, her spirits crushed, young mind and body slain,
Existence is one long and dreary haze.

Sometimes in her dreamlike state she sees another life
Where happiness and peace walked hand in hand,
There a young girl freely plays, no thoughts of future strife,
So many future hopes and dreams were planned.

Destined, so it seemed, to suffer countless human woes,
False hope came in angelic sweet disguise,
So now enslaved, addicted, she is helpless to abstain;
The girl who begs while inwardly she cries,

And one more grieving Mother sadly sighs
As demons recommence their evil lies.

Comely Saracen

Veiled beauty so homely, so chaste
Purging-black your crown doth baste
Cloistered mantle throttles your solemn waste
Erudite cloak exhibits subtle, stolid taste

Sensual nature appealingly encased
Your virtue, fealty cannot be effaced
All pageantry and style have been erased
Remaining, intrinsic qualities meekly showcased

Outwardly modest; inwardly circumspect
Physical qualities restrained, derelict
Bearing your social stigma without respect
For the fashion police; who your sublimity reject

Bridled maiden so simple, so plain
Retract your temporal, flowing mane
Reveal your fair, pale grain
Your passion, honor no longer restrain

Premium Member Resignation

Little did I realise when I swung
Into the car park at Calder Glen
That by the end of that week in August 2009
My days of teaching would be over.

It all began so well
Meeting an old colleague right at the start
Archie ,a jovial bon vivant
From an earlier placement.

No fault could I find with the well disciplined pupils
Hanging attentively upon every word
Or giving the impression of doing so.

No, the fault lay within me.
My outer self sounded the same
Inwardly the elan had flattened
And I felt my energy draining away
With every lesson and every class.
Was this imposter syndrome?
Or maybe it was the way footballers
Experienced that their time in the game
Was finally over, spent and burnt out.

By the time Friday of that week came
I just knew that I had taught my last lesson.

Just before I went to the office
To let them know I would not
Be returning, I was buttonholed
By an assistant head
Who regaled me with the kind words
Archie had said about me
And requested my return.

It was not easy to tell him
That I no longer felt up
To the demands of the job
And that I felt like a race horse
Which had just run its last race
And was longing to be sent
Out to pasture
In its own sweet way.

Morning Dew

Inwardly consumed at this early hour
Turmoil and confusion
The bad inside growing beginning to tower
Love remaining just an illusion.
The day already starting to sour.
My heart is just another intrusion.
The suns light reviving a flower
While within it simply rains pollution.

The sky turns from black silk to blindingly bright.
Gloom seems irrational.
The mornings breeze has a chilly bite.
As change becomes inevitable.
Sometimes wishing it was always night.
Where a creation can become sensational
Everything must start anew within the morning light.
Except my love which will remain unconditional

A weathered broken heart not shiny and new
Beaten and torn apart
Battle worn black and blue
But still a loving heart
A possession held by so very few
A priceless work of art.
Once you thought love simply grew
Needing only a seed to start
If you had only knew
The art of a heart from the start is it can only love in part.
Until it receives that love back from you.

Premium Member The Soul Waits In Silence -Psalm 62

The soul waits in silence
for knowing comes his redemption
from God alone it will come
the fortress, rock and salvation

Oh how long do attackers batter
for feeling like leaning tottering wall
deceitful workers speaking kindly
inwardly cursing waiting for the fall

Hope within waits in silence
for faith in God won't be shaken
the one who's the mighty fortress
will never leave his own forsaken

Put your trust in this God always
this true refuge tell your whole heart
we that are lowly are a mere breath
those who trust not in riches are smart

God need only to speak once
for His power is His and His alone
one day justice will work it's purpose
as God's steadfast love will be shown

(Psalm 62(ESV)
For God alone my soul waits in silence;
   from him comes my salvation.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken.
How long will all of you attack a man
   to batter him,
like a leaning wall, a tottering fence?
They only plan to thrust him down from his high position.
   They take pleasure in falsehood.
They bless with their mouths,
   but inwardly they curse. Selah
For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence,
for my hope is from him.
He only is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall not be shaken.
On God rests my salvation and my glory;
my mighty rock, my refuge is God.
Trust in him at all times, O people;
   pour out your heart before him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah
Those of low estate are but a breath;
   those of high estate are a delusion;
in the balances they go up;
they are together lighter than a breath.
Put no trust in extortion;
   set no vain hopes on robbery;
if riches increase, set not your heart on them.
Once God has spoken;
   twice have I heard this:
that power belongs to God,
and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love.
For you will render to a man
   according to his work.)

the funnymans mask

based on the song-tears of a clown by Iron Maiden
---------------------------------------------------------------------
afraid people will see your truth
so you lived wearing a mask
a mask
      to protect you
from all the worlds
                        judgements

as you spun your
                        crazy world
you entered the masquerade
you took a leap
                 into the unknown
to be the funny man
                              the clown

but this mask you wore
also protected you from
     your created illusion
   and the paranoia hiding
                                  within

all around they lit up your name
outwardly was a glow
but
inwardly the whirlwind spun
spinning inside
              the darkness

dominating all bounds

the black fog of frustration seeped
           into your soul
torment spread its tentacles
trapping you inside the cage of hell

  most fly into heaven
but upon a demons wing
         you descended

 you mended hearts with laughter
          a real life Patch Adams

Quest

Inwardly
searching
and seeking harmony
part of me

lives to dance
across the vast expanse
that crosses
all boundaries

finally an awakening
realizing im not alone
we're prone to grow valuable
in the light of whats shown

but still we're seeking value
in the eyes of a universe
that keeps us under the thumb
of its inescapable curse

I've learned
the world turns
dips and swerves
in a blur

solar flares
they burn
but have no fear
we still preserve

and push
through the night's
extended reach
while we keep

the knowledge
within each
is a key to eternity
certainly...

above the light
of a galaxy fading
we're ascending
and communing

among
a crowd
of interstellar
heavenly beings

and the clouds
are now receding
while the blind
are now seeing

revealing the currents
of fallen leaves
we glide upon
endlessly

while reshaping
the dust
from the rust
of all that has passed

and like
a script of Sanskrit
these words
will everlast

Premium Member Dog face

They looked at me with doubt
The light had long gone out
I was long past my prime
Ripples in a pond subside over time

"That's him?", an onlooker thought it odd
"Yes" his brother said, "I swear to God!"
A girl said "I don't see it, but it must be there"
Their doubts didn't faze me, I really didn't care

"It's all a fraud," said a sad man staring
I laughed inwardly, I was past caring
A colleague thought I was magnetic, explained it by a pheromone
He thought I didn't wash; I just gave a groan.

Then a woman said angrily that I must be kept down
A backhanded compliment, but I'd rather not drown
A young man told his friends that I had a "dog face"
He didn't feel I belonged in his land, his place.

For many years, I hadn't slept through the night
But one day, I got up, feeling alright.
Put a bike helmet on my bald head
Got on my Trek, like a 70's retread.

Cycled out of the city, into green lands
Blood rushed to my face, heard musical bands
Light came from somewhere, buried inside
Perhaps its last stand, before it expired and died

A few people caught sight, gasped with surprise
We were all feeling good, there were stars in their eyes
They gave me a smile, a smile from the heart
Like a sudden symphony, like a work of art.

Should we believe in illusion, should we stick to the fact?
Should we get to the real, or fall for an act?
Whatever was true, I'm old now and worn
But in a smile, in enthusiasm, it's always reborn
Smiles are cheap, I think there's no harm
Life is short, why not add myth, no cause for alarm.

Incineration of Love God Madan (Cupid) 20
Originally written in Hindi by my late father Dr. Amar Nath Kapoor

Hindi Title ‘Madan Dahan’ 20

Awakening of Shaker’s sleeping powers

Sensual pleasure so developed,
Destroyed the burning power,
Created by his long penance,
And compelled him to ponder and realize.

How charms can destroy his eyes powers,
Like ordinary human beings,
When he is blessed by the creator,
With the power of resistance of God.

Eyes get delusion infected,
That kills their powers temporarily,
But inwardly they remain,
Protected by wisdom and consciousness.
