A true story, based on family oral tradition
from the oldest part of the city of Bern,
capitol of Switzerland, where my mother was
born and raised, in the Nydegghoff)
He lighted the candle with a quivering hand,
his overcoat seeming to weigh down the old man.
He paused in the aisle to genuflect,
and wondered if God knew his heart was a wreck.
He found a pew and got to his knees,
hands clasped together, he sent out his pleas.
He is old and he's tired, now he's alone,
his wife died last Spring, now his house wasn't home.
They'd been blessed with one son, he'd died in the war,
and now there was nothing for him to live for.
He prayed until his knee pain was great,
then sat back in the pew and tried not to shake.
The cathedral was beautiful; he loved the stained glass,
but, oh, they brought memories of Sundays past.
How could he make it through Christmas alone
in a house that was empty, no longer a home?
The kitchen was silent and cold as a tomb,
but her scent lingered on in their modest bedroom.
He said one last prayer, then rose to his feet,
genuflecting again, he went out on the street.
He walked home near blindly, not even aware
of the snow that was landing on his shoulders and hair.
He was cold inside, his heart like a stone,
and he felt completely and utterly alone.
He turned down his street, saw his porch light's glow,
and only then realized it had started to snow.
He opened his gate, thought of making some soup,
but froze in his tracks at the sight on the stoop.
On his porch sat a basket, the old wicker kind,
he thought for a moment, he was losing his mind.
Inside the basket that sat on his mat,
were three tiny kittens and one momma cat.
What a pitiful sight, so cold and so thin,
he scooped up the basket and hurried them in.
He found some canned tuna and warmed up some milk,
gently petting the babies, whose fur was like silk.
He never discovered who left those cats there,
but, as his love grew, he no longer cared.
His wife had loved cats and this comforted him,
as they slept on his head, or tucked under his chin.
The kittens grew quickly, as they're wont to do,
amused by their antics, his love grew and grew.
There was laughter and joy 'til the end of his days,
for God works, as you know, in mysterious ways.
I’m packing up my house now.
I’m doing it all by faith.
I’m looking for a house now
No more rent will I have to pay.
This house has served it’s purpose,
Although it was too small.
It was a place of shelter,
After a tremendous fall.
Now it’s time to move on,
No more parking on this day.
I’m moving into a direction,
Because I’m moving in 2008.
As I’m working in my kitchen now,
This is what I see:
A brand new dishwasher and disposal,
No more washing by hands for me.
Hurrying to use the bathroom-before there is a knock.
Two or three will do, all having their own locks.
Four or five bedrooms will compliment me just fine.
I only need the one that I can call mine.
A living-room and family-room too!
My oh my I will not know what to do.
Don’t forget my fireplace to keep me snug and warm.
I know my new house will certainly be a bomb……
Romans 4:17-(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before
him whom he believed, even God, who quickened the dead, and calleth those
things which be not as though they were.
So you thought that I was playing when I wrote this poem.
It has come to pass and the house looks like a charm.
It will be a new beginning and the neighborhood is grand.
On October the 24th the keys will be in my hand....
I will be still renting for a while.
But to us this is Ok.
It will teach us to discipline better.
For our new house is on the way.
Form:
Cleaning house today,
Packing away old troubles to be shipped
Into the garbage where they belong
I can't continue this pattern; my hands are too weary to keep weaving, sowing together
These threads of apprehensive dwellings,
My mind is fed up on forgiving cruel intentions
Not deserving of forgiveness
But I will forgive to put my conscience at ease
To better my soul in the countless nights I can recall of worrying
I am tired... a change needs to transpire
At times I feel the urge to surrender to the tribulations
Yet I am still eager to keep on keeping on
Moving up a little bit higher, one day's journey at a time
This time granted, I am willingly...
Cleaning house today,
The baggage stored upon shelves, corners, closets gathered in years of mental space
I am leaving out on the curb, free for anyone to claim custody, full ownership to
I am recovering now... from the midst of a complex situation
Contemplating one complication after the next
An easy cleanup at best, as is...
As it will take some time, time I can't afford to spend hastily
An easy cleanup, on the contrary I would disagree
Yet I am ready for whatever plan god has in store for me
I am determined to clean house, I am preparing for brighter days
The true pursuit of happiness
The divine mission to peace of mind
Have you ever noticed how people smile at newborn babies?
Why? There is a beauty about them which stands up and demands attention.
There also is an extraordinary beauty in you. We spend most of our days mean- mugging
(looking mean), fake smiling and laughing at communication that is really not funny.
What about looking in the mirror and smiling at you every now and then? Those radiating
lips, gorgeous multi- skin colors and unique backgrounds.
The drive you possess which makes you more than one woman.
A Wife, Girlfriend, Mother, Diva and Business Woman.
If the lady of the house is unhappy the whole house is unhappy.
The strength to give birth and mental stability to raise a child in the way he or she should go.
You pray for everybody else but what about praying for you?
You care for everybody else but what about caring for you?
People say you are crazy if you talk to yourself and answer.
Well, I have discovered for myself most of the time I receive the best solutions.
Anything that is destined to better you will be talked about and challenged.
I have also discovered you are worthy to smile with and at yourself.

A soup has unity of, if you please
Potatoes, tomatoes, carrots and peas
But a house divided
Is of minds decided
Love foremost __ a toast, if you please!!!!!
When our little house is divided
`Tis of different mind’s decided
I believe the civil war
Has been fought, thus far
Only depictions of mind’s fictions, linger!!!!
There is a rhyming of hearts' chiming
A narration of Sacred Heart’s patience
A pose, sacred of heart flows
Heart’s freedom of verse, disperse
A short verse, a long, deserves not the thong!!!
Mind’s education__ can be ill fated
If with it’s Sacred Heart not mated
Of mind is Separated
Of heart is love mated
Consummate, Adam and Eve, please!!!!
1.Complete marriage: to make a marriage legally complete and fully valid by having spiritual
intercourse, the Mind with it’s Sacred Heart.!!!!!

deep down that your moon would always be crescent
that there was a lack of light that I needed
that wood, when dry, splinters
that a house of cards is
weak
I know…
that a full moon offers all the light I need
that I can see forever from this place in time
that wood, when wet, swells
that a house made of bricks is
firm
I offer
not recriminations…
you gave what you could
without giving of yourself
you knew lust without love
and I, heartache from disparity
the red flag warning came too late
the holes too big to keep me afloat
not a good swimmer, I drifted on my back
till love threw me a preserver
Broad is the way that seems right to the mind’s concept OF God,
while narrow is that way love leads life as moral precept which IS God.
Love is the right way, while indecision dwells as one’s mind concept,
thus a double minded man/woman is unstable in all their ways!
The mind’s concept is judgmental logic between good and evil.
However, Love is the good seed of which the mind is derivative.
Dwell not as a judge in the house of the mind’s indecision,
for of what measure you mete shall be measured to you again!
But dwell in love, the house of the Lord, and thy servant mind
within thy house, shall be brilliant and blissful!
