Not So Much With the Merry

Twas the night before Christmas, up in the North Pole
The pressure of the season was taking its toll
Deadlines and long hours were causing some stress
“Some” might be an understatement. They were a mess

The elves were on strike, marching angrily outside
Chanting, “Save elves on shelves” and “Santa Lied”
And for Frosty’s sake, get the bells off these shoes
This incessant jingling has driven them to booze

The reindeer were hired, part time, to cover as scabs
But they kept flying off and no one could keep tabs
Even when they were there, they just ate everything
You do not want to see droppings eaten toys can bring

Mrs. Claus was stress eating like a hoover
Three times, we’ve had to do the Heimlich maneuver
She ripped down St Nick's mistletoe like a scroogy thief
Suffice it to say, there will be no festive tension relief

As for Santa Claus, the big man in red himself
Well he’s in hot water now for punching an elf
He denied the picketers in the last negotiation
I mean, they already get 11 months of vacation….

Everything went slower for delivery without Rudolph
He’s quit the team now, and retired to play golf
So for all the hopeful dreaming little girls and boys
About a 1/3 of them will get a few regurgitated toys

Ho Ho Ho Ho............ sorry kids

I was minding our own ancient business,
making maple and brown sugar oatmeal
for my constantly
and instantly
devouring daughter,
when GrandMother Moses

broke into my day:

frankly, I didn't even know She could speak

Racism and Patriarchalism

and capital-value monopolistic
monocultural
monotheistic

Then the kettle

we can choose to compare

There Once Lived A Woman Named Jell-O Jiggler

There once lived a woman made of Jell-O. She jiggled and wiggled
as she walked. Invisible to most she was as clear as a window pane.
She often wore her heart on her sleeve and ended the day with washed
up colors, kind of like gelatin in hot water.
You can only imagine what happened each time it rained. Bit by bit
she would dissolve, all gelatin molecules and no grit.

Her collagen did bind but didn't stick, for often she cooled but rarely
bonded with another. She lacked courage and brave so they named her
Jello-Mellow. She craved sweeteners such as aspartame and sugar,
and when she didn't get the accolades, she got very very sad.

There once lived a lady with vibrant colors who got washed out by life.
She was a Jell-O Jiggler left at the bottom of the pan too long. Cut into more
shapes and sizes then I could remember. She lived in a box and never
got to see the world. Until one day a good soul took her home.
Together they stuck like two Jell-O Jigglers in one heart shaped box. She was kept out of the rain and she lit up like sunshine.

There once was a woman named Jell-O Jiggler, who traded her Jello for
a dollop of ice cream. You can only imagine what happened when it
rained ! Well that is a story for another day, Heh !

                The End.

Salatation

Conversion to Boric Acid
Dissolve borax in hot water.
Add a strong acid like hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid.
Cool the mixture to precipitate and filter out pure boric acid crystals.
Dehydration to Boron Trioxide
Heat the isolated boric acid above 530°C.
The heat drives off water vapor, decomposing the acid into boron trioxide (
).
Grind the resulting boron trioxide into a fine powder.
Reduction to Elemental Boron
The final phase involves a chemical reduction where the oxygen is removed from the boron trioxide to isolate the elemental boron. In laboratory settings, a reducing agent like magnesium is often used because of its high reactivity.
This specific stage involves significant physical and chemical hazards:
High-Temperature Reactions: The reduction is highly exothermic (releasing intense heat) and is often described as a thermite-type reaction. These reactions can reach temperatures that cause standard containers to fail or shatter.
Chemical Byproducts: The process produces various byproducts, such as magnesium oxide and potentially hazardous gases, which require specialized chemical washing and filtration in a controlled environment to safely manage.
Impurity Risks: Extracting high-purity boron outside of industrial facilities is extremely difficult, often resulting in amorphous mixtures or magnesium-boron compounds rather than pure elemental crystals.
It is highly stable

Premium Member What I'M Made Of

WHAT I’M MADE OF...

A health assessment is needed
My eating’s under scrutiny
My husband told them, he’s told me,
“Gotta drink more water, less “Iced Tea”
.
Basic body measurements take
And want my body mass index
Plus waist to hip circumference
And variety of other specs.

Told me, to turn our evening stroll
“Into a two mile power walk”
What an unreal crazy idea
Time I start to complain and balk!’

Told to “sizzle in hot water”
Thought they meant me... in a “Hot Tub”
Nope!…Naked veggies, potatoes
After, they get a healthy scrub.

Said, “ Gotta see what I’m made of”
So.. when I’m scheduled to come back,
I’ll bring menu’s to show them…
Chocolate, chicken, fish and “Big Mac!

Premium Member The Morning Calls Hour

The morning calls hour
has come, as daily it does...
ahead of dawn -

The whistles, the chirps,
the lilts and caws
have come
and filled the empty air;
the air so empty all light has fallen out;
perhaps through the sieve of stars.
Holes of light leaking sight
away into the other next,
or first,
or last.

The clouds drift past;
an ever-offering Eastern sky
dribbles endless puffs of white-stuff
which drift overhead.
Heading toward the light.
Unseen streams of air
both draw and push these yet-to-rains
from beyond the skyline
to beyond the treeline.

A huff-chuffing squirrel is overhead
cavorting and exhorting
in the mulberry-leafed maple
with
leaves so big and profligate
so
as to hide every branch.
There’s an urgency to its gutturality
as it chatter-clambers through the
density of burgundy tree.

I’m in hot water again.
Soaking in the hot wet.
Writing tools all here -
Keyboard.
Tea.
Time...
The cat, important, though not a
tool.
Still, though - pressed into use,
as it were.

But the thoughts do not come.
Unlike the clouds, which we’re taught
are thoughts. Or, is it, “...unlike the thoughts,
which are like the clouds.”?

But I don't have the thoughts, undercloud
(under dark cloud)
though I am.
Only these thoughts
    which I very
                 very do not
                                    like.

A lone goose now.
Also undercloud.
Also, aiming East.
To light. To life.
To next. To new.

Thoughtless.
And not unclouded.
So unlike my thoughts.

Premium Member The Climate Yo-Yo

I’m a trilobite, I took my leave
Nature had a shocker up its sleeve
In hot water
Air gets shorter
Things got heated and I couldn’t breathe

I’m a stegosaur and I’m long dead
I got a chill in my poor old head
My world cooled down
The leaves turned brown
I breathed my last in a cold cold bed

I’m a mammoth and I used to swarm
I lived in hope of a winter storm
The snow that lay
Melted away
I lost my life when it got too warm

I’m a human and I’ve had my fill
Of blame and shame for every ill
But humans, I’m sure
Killed no stegosaur
Our climate changes and always will

Catch-Phrase

TANKA
(interrupt someone who's talking)

West would say, If I
may stop you dead in your tracks
East would say, If I
may slice you with some honey
criminal, subliminal

HAIKU'S
(Tea at the Roosevelt's)

Eleanor, of tea;
women are like a teabag
strong, ~~in hot water

(Parodies of mines...)
Franklin D. of tea;
men are like a teabag too
cold water, ~~add ice

(...and again...)
there're lots of fishes
in the sea then only thee
~~yours are more like whales

(...and again...)
there's an old saying
with age comes wisdom, but some
times, ~~age comes alone

Premium Member Interloper Came On Too Strong

“I suggest we break the ice”, the interloper said.
I began chopping with a snow axe, and she laughed.

You must have been born with a silver spoon, she threw out.
I threw the snow axe at her; irritated she had called it a spoon.

She ducked, as cool as a cucumber.
I was irritated now.

“I’ve got your number,” she told me.
I had no idea how she had gotten it.

“I was not born yesterday,” she added.
I knew from her wrinkles she was not lying.

“This is as easy as ABC,” she said. “You are transparent.”
I was not a happy camper now, she was getting under my skin.

“Hold your horses,” I told her. “You are coming on too strong.”
“You’ll be in hot water if you continue egging me on like this.”

She laughed. “Let me put a bug in your ear,” she said.
“Hot water is something I do best after falling through a hole in the ice.”
