Titanic Forever

My father had been out of work for way too long.
At night, I often heard him and mom weep
Food was scant, but love was strong.
As was that hunger pain when I lay to sleep.

My little brother was too young to understand.
Still a babe in arms, he brought our only smiles.
I loved to play with him and hold his tiny hand.
It seemed to take away the hurt from life trials.

Then, one-day dad came home all excited.
He was talking so fast, grinning from ear to ear.
He said that our future was well fated.
That we were in for adventure was clear.

It was that new ocean liner, the Titanic.
Dad had been hired for the maiden voyage.
We were going along as his sidekick.
A family destined for American homage.

In just five days we boarded that ship.
Immigrating was a dream come true.
Accommodations would be a hardship.
But it was worth opportunities…new.

Dad worked as a scullion in the restaurant.
We were housed on the lower deck.
It was a very crowded lodgment.
We stayed together until the shipwreck.

Sirens were screeching people screaming.
We could not find dad anywhere.
Was he locked up as a cageling?
Could it be true; was he trapped down there?

Lifeboats were being lowered.
Mom held my brother, crying.
Dad must be somewhere cloistered.
We all feared a dreadful dying.

Someone put me in a lifeboat.
I reached for mom as it descended.
The Titanic was still afloat.
But my family separated.

The water was freezing.
I had forgotten my coat.
People crying, sniffling, and sneezing.
The lifeboat soon became an iceboat.

Within a few hours, death began.
Shivering, I crawled beneath two corpses.
A young girl destined to live without her clan.
Hidden from polar breezes.

That was the last time I saw my mother.
My mind holds the image clearly.
She, calling for dad, was cuddling brother.
Oh, how I loved my family dearly.

When rescuers finally arrived.
I was the only one alive in the lifeboat.
Beneath those bodies, I survived.
Then, I was wrapped in a warm coat.

I never did see America.
I was sent to an orphanage back home.
Life had dealt a great trauma.
Forever had sunken in the ocean's foam.

The Wasteland -Part 2-

A long time passes and I am still here
Silently insulting, brutally weeping
But then I lift my head from the ground
To see him standing there
Towering over me in all endeavor of quietude
Was he there the entire time?
I feel his eyes but see only his stare
I am dreaming again
Has he returned to guide me?
To frighten me back into reality?
Who are you, entity of fear?
I know death draws me near—
But why, oh mystery, do you linger here?
He never answers me, though still I try
Why are you here?
Must you hate me too?
He pulls me up staring me down
His thin, sophisticated form makes me feel hollow
Empty features burning my vision
As he bends facing me
I never want to see your face again
See, that’s why I hide. . .
Why, I ask, my voice croaking
Tell me why. . .
He takes my hand as I cringe
Walking me to the edge, his head tilted my way
I shake like a dried leaf on the brink of autumn
A small, pathetic part of me wants to thank him
To believe all of this. . .is right
How though, can I trust his blank sincerity?
I am the only. . .the lonely
But there he is beside me
His long fingers intermingling in mine
The sense of fear and confusion
Sticking to me like grime

I am the Slender Man—I am—your friend
And for once I let him embrace me
I cannot bear to flee
He tenses and tightens his grip
Dreading I may slip away in panic
Please stay. . .please stay
Soon it will all just go away. . .
He is warm against me—alive
Breathing slowly, I feel the beating of his heart
Bashing my nerves—blurring my mind
Tingles shoot down my spine
As I stand there, so close to him
We watch a sagging sunset
As tears flow down my infected eyes
I have learned to fly. . .to embrace the lies
Squeezing my hand he holds me close
As the black sun wearily lifts its head one last time
Only to sink from its post
I never want to see your face again
See, that’s why I lie
Slender Man cradles me in his tendrils
Surrounding me like I am its sickly nourishment
Whispering comforting falsehood

I gaze beyond the wasteland
Beyond myself. . .
But there I find nothing
Hand in hand we walk over the edge
Heading yonder into the sheer, sweet

Nothingness

The demons watch us disappear
Grinning from ear to ear
I cannot see them now. . .
But I can smell their fear

A Futuristic Christmas

Tonight we sit ‘round ye ol’ Christmas tree,
But not the tree of yesterday or yester year you see.
Lights shine from the bole and tips so free.
We do not sit on stools or bended knee,
Nay, we sit on floating bubbles filled with glee.
Tonight we sit ‘round on Christmas eve.

Each branch and each stem hollow and clear,
With glorious colors rushing from there to here.
Self-driven instruments give us reasons to cheer,
While grandad is grinning from ear to ear.
The world is at peace; today leaves us no fear,
No one looks to tomorrow, no matter how near.

History’s Christmas gifts once sat down below,
But today they fly high, and are able to flow.
Their covers like metal adorned with a glass bow,
And brilliant tints that shine, leaving the ceiling aglow.
The children stare at the presents wanting to know,
How presents arrived when Santa’s is yet to show.

The Misses and Meemaw dawn matching shirts,
Both steady in the kitchen hydrating desserts.
The rehydrator jingles several festive alerts,
“Supper is ready”, sang like a Christmas concert.
Papa gripes at the boys “Someone’s gone git hurt.”
The boys outside giggle and play in the dirt.

Time to set the table, a task easy and quick,
With just a command a table rises from the thick.
Soon from the thin came golden chairs of glass brick,
Chairs light as air, glistening, and ever so slick.
Plates soon filled the table, candles lit by the wick,
By the snap of a finger the flames came like magic.

So we have all gathered round in the most merry mood,
In awe of what has been hydrated and brewd.
We grasp the utensils that are glistening and blued,
As we will be ready to eat and prayer will conclude.
I apologize for the inconvenience, or if I seem shrewd,
But this conversation is over, it’s time to eat food.

Millions of Wonders

With the rising of the sun it feels at last as if all is right with the world
for a moment
Watching the dazzling colors light up the sky
Almost as if the day is saying What are you doing being so lonely for
Get over yourself and appreciate this vast world while you still can !
Realizing in this feeling of once lost hope and love that the only thing
that is going to stop you from reaching your goals is you ! Wow !
Racking your brain in millions of wonders at how you ever let yourself
get this way
How could you go so far off the tracks that you forgot why you were
travelling them in the first place O sure there is bound to be things that
will bring you down But now you can see above that and see the result
in the end Grinning from ear to ear in pure ecstasy as you grasp the
unbelievable reality starring you right in the face Its not too late !
So get up and get out there fill the world with the colors of your life
Dont you think enough time has been wasted
Joy lifts you up high into the rainbows of possibilities dancing on the
clouds of air It feels so good to lose that baggage you have been carrying
for so long Never even really understanding where it came from in the
first place Your dreams feel so close that you can reach out and fill your
soul with them forever Dont be another plastic mind make them sit there
in funny confusion asking themselves over and over again why is she so
overflowing with grace and faith so determined knowing that the pointless
things we worry about in life arent worth it So now shes thinking outside of
the box ... Amazed at the clarity of life thats always been right in her hands
She was just too stubborn to look

Another Man's Treasure

"Another Man’s Treasure"

Jetsam tumbles
broken doorbells
no one
answers
anymore

ironing boards
pressing to imprint
something of significance
a life, your life
droll and predictable

it all sinks
to the bottom
of a bad dream
with yesterday’s
stale tears

sharp heels
clicking on a parquet floor
like knives ripping words
jagged scratches on old wallpaper
like a warning thrown at a wall

Sundry feelings furry
ageing inevitable
intimate moments blurry
moulding green against a new life
you prophesy diamond clean

their part in your life
half-state now
pill swallowed
like a bad dream
forgotten

and

there you sit and twirl
grinning from ear-to-ear
on your swivelling black leather chair
before a glowing screen
lighthouse revolver ready

evolving
glowing prisms adrift
blue ribbons of seaweed green
tangled in your wide Sargasso Sea
morse code blinking reverie

lost memories pleasantly drowned
like a murderess you pin them down
then, the tight grasp of possibilities
rise to face the horizon
eventually, they are Marco Polo found

and

there you are
midpoint
hovering
poised
waiting

Unconditional
Singular
One man’s trash

The Ego Is a Funny Thing

The Ego is a funny thing
Tell you what you want to hear
Have you grinning from ear to ear
It’ll assure you of everything

It’ll drive you to achieve
Make you look cool, Make you look mean
The ego’s got a plan
It’s going to teach what to believe

It’s going to show you what you need to know
Don’t listen to what others say
Don’t worry I’ll guide the way’
Have you looking like a fool, while you’re feeling cool

You need some money, I’ll teach you greed
Dress the part show the illusion
Do a little dance, have a little drink
Laugh and cheat and think its ok

Need a date, first you got to play the game
Put you in a fancy car
Wear shades to hide your eyes
protect you from being recognized

You’re in control or at least you think you are
Opinionated to the core
Ego dipping, forever tripping
Hand waving finger flipping

The ego’s a funny thing
It’ll miss-lead you in every way
Then call you a friend
Confuse you and do all over again

Have you fighting with all your friends
Like a game without an end
It’s that demon in your mind
it wants to control you every time

(Verse 1 repeat)
The Ego is a funny thing
Tell you what you want to hear
Have you grinning from ear to ear
It’ll assure you of everything

Doesn’t matter if its night or day
Cause the ego wants to play
Always laughing when you’re thinking
Right or wrong it can’t be swayed.

Premium Member Wanda and Rudolph

Your only four feet tall and you got a red nose taunts the scarlet witch
"But I have antlers strong & sturdy and I can outshine a blood moon anytime "
You can buck your horns but you can't deliver you silly caribou, she teases
"I am a legendary luminous being of light and I can see very well, every night "
You should be returned to isolation, Santa wouldn't use you , you rangifer twit
(sigh) if must you know, I was teleported to the North Pole, chosen by Santa !
(Wanda the scarlet witch who was only trying to toughen his hyde
decided to transport him to Wundagore Mountain
to see if he could survive the mountain goats out there !
"W000, what the dickens am I doing in the alps ? Yoo hoo, Oh Santa ! "
She stirred the four winds & blew across the fifty seas ,then whispered
to Rudolph, " are we done yet ?"
"I'm a reindeer, not a moose " (though by now he appeared more to be
pretty dusty, tired & worn, he didn't let up and he didn't give in.
When Xmas Eve arrived, Santa's sleigh with its Light Detection spotted
Rudolph and scooped down to pick him up.
From way up there in that wondrous sphere Rudolph waved to Wanda
below, then realized she was grinning from ear to ear.
In her ruby red dress she looked radiant. Like the first day they met,
on a fantastical journey. To drink tea and eat burntys together.
By the light of His ruby red nose.

Premium Member The Skunk In the Bottle

It was a glorious day in New Hampshire and I was enjoying the view,
Appreciating nature, and spring's grand debut.
Then out of the window a strange sight caught my eye,
It was a skunk with a bottle on his head walking by.

I called my husband to the window to let him see,
Then he said, "I'm going to go help that poor skunk, and set him free!"
I was concerned the skunk would spray my husband in fear,
But he was determined to save the skunk and to persevere.

The skunk kept banging his head on the ground along his way,
And my husband followed close behind watching in dismay.
He made his move on the skunk in the neighbor's drive...
I would have loved a video to catch that live!

He grabbed the skunk by the bottle and flung with all his might,
Then the freed skunk went flying, and must have had quite a fright.
In his hurry to avoid the inevitable spray,
My husband took a tumble trying to make his getaway.

He came home in pain but grinning from ear to ear,
He had saved that poor skunk, not able to eat or drink, with death near.
My husband suffered a torn rotator cuff from the unusual incident,
But God speaking to him to save that skunk was not a coincidence.

New Shoes

As a child I can remember,
How kids would point and whisper.
I ran every time to hide,
So they wouldn't see my cry.
     My teacher found me,
in the bathroom on the floor.
A tear falling down her cheek,
As she stood at the door.
She knelt down beside me, asked if I was ok?
I answered back, "this happens every
day.
My shoes on my feet,
Have holes obviously.
We have no money for clothes.
I'm going thru things I don't understand.
I'm sure you already know."
My Daddy works everyday of the week,
To pay for Mama's medicine.
He told me just the other day,
Soon shes leaving to go to heaven.
My teacher then wrapped her arms
around me and asked," is there anything I can do?"
In that same sentence,
 she said wait a minute,
Can we meet up after school?"
Yes ma'am I answered, what was going on?
Am I in trouble? What did she need?
When I got home from school that day,
There she stood, by the kitchen sink.
She sat down, next to me,
grinning from ear to ear.
I hope you like my gift to you.
You deserve these my dear.
As I opened the box,
 I could see,
the strings of my new shoes,
My teacher bought just for me.

He Knocked Me Off My Feet

Today i knocked off early
What a day it was
Impatience is riding my soul
Like a hungry horse in the field
Anxious to reach the bus stop

I waited for my bus ride
Singing and counting the minutes
I dressed like a lil girl
Waiting to see her 1st crush
Grinning from ear to ear

And then... There he was
My lil stallion dressed in black
Moving like a devil on steroids
He don't notice
But i turn all purple with envy

FInally i gather all my scattered guts
Move up close to him
My heart thumping, bet he heard that
Cos his lips twisted with charm
Gosh he's pretty

I was about to move my lips
And whisper "hello sir"
But he beat me to it
He said "hey sexy"
I held my breathe in then out

I lost my grip and felt dizzy
People cheered in awe
... He had a tunnel inside his mouth
All his front teeth had disappeared
It wa all dark and scary

As i regained my sanity and opened my eyes
His lips were locked in mine
Mouth to mouth they said
Soft and juicy so warm against
I died in his arms for good

Today he's my husband... Till teeth do us part
He's my teethless husband and i love him
