Premium Member I Can Never Stop Working

I brought you a meatball sandwich, he said.
Pleased.
I was going on a diet.
Starting tonight.
But there is no way I can do that now, loving meatballs as much as I do.

I brought you your favorite pies, he said.
Chocolate cream, coconut cream, banana cream, lemon meringue and key lime.
He does not eat pie,
And there are only two of us living here.
I am doing my best to make him happy.

If I did not have a job where I was moving
Every second of the day I would weigh more
Than the truck that I drive, and it is an extra length truck.
I cannot imagine being retired, and living at home all day,
While he brings me my hourly pie, or my meatball sandwiches.

Premium Member The Work of the Wood Faeries

Orange chested robin was intrigued and pleased
Crone of a gardener woman down on her knees
Bird sat on the end of a used wooden spade
Bengal cat walked by, ignoring his shade.

Perky faerie perched on end of 1880’s chair,
There was much going on in this pure garden air.
Wood faeries are here, she said with a sniff.
Knew it this morning when I caught a whiff.

She said this matter-of-factly, not once but twice.
Robin replied quietly, “Well, isn’t that nice.”
Another faerie called snotty faerie to help her with barrow.
She gave bird a wave, he saw her eyes narrow.

Cat was back, more interested in robin now.
So he flew to the top of the faerie tree, an oaken wow.
Garden woman backed up to her flower farm chair
Sat down quietly, scattering faeries that were sitting there

First planting day we had in a great while!
Woman seemed satisfied, showed a wonderful smile.
Wood faeries gathered, came back to their house.
Lambasted lazy garden faeries, purely fun grouse.

Life Lessons of a Car

Life lessons of a Car
Im cruising down the road
The cars at normal speed
Everyones in their own lane
Meeting their own needs
I see the green trees
starting to so beautifully grow
In a twinkle of an eye
Things start to move real slow,
Do I have a clue whats going on
Have my rights outweighed my wrong
Sometimes im stuck in traffic
Its at a stand still , sometimes reality just gets more real
Certain places youre not suppose to enter
Because there could be danger
Sometimes thats how our life treats us
We do things out of anger
Am I a stranger on the passenger side, if I was walking
Would I be offered a ride
Or would you turn your face
And continue to hide
Would you let me out
On a lonely rode
Would you pick me up
If I was freezing cold
I dont know but I do care
If your tire went flat
Id give you a spare
Thats what my lifes all about
Lighting the fire.thats in my heart Your car wont power on
Ill give yours a start
I know that start will get you very far
These are the life lessons of a car!

She knew things were going to fall into place in an amazing way
Of course they did.
She obtained her dream job.
He was certain he was going to be flogged and beaten.
Someone mugged him on the way home
Choices are imperative.

He suspected something weird was going on, but did not comment.
Later he was glad, because his ideas were way off,
and mentioning it might have hurt someone.
She was furious with a co-worker for an assumed infraction
And refused to give them a second chance.
It is always our choice, remember that.

She visualized joy because she needed to get out of her funk.
Believing brought happiness to her within a few hours.
Sadly, he could not refocus because he was too angry.
His therapist worked with him, but he did not try.
He was determined to be angry, sad and mad.
He chose an attitude that once again did not help him.

The man a self proclaimed gay
One day was talking to Sling Blade

The man who was gay
Declared,"I believe people are under estimating you, Sling Blade.

I believe that behind that exterior
You are very deep thinker on the interior

What were you thinking just now
Please tell me lets just have a pow wow

Come on Sling Blade tell me your thoughts
What's going on inside I haven't bought

That exterior facade'
Tell me what words you've played

What was you thinking just now".
Sling Blade says, "Well how I like mustard with these French Fried Potates wow"

"No! no! not that Sling Blade."
Said the man that was gay

"Before that what thoughts in your head"
Sling Blade answered, "Not a thing instead."

The man that was gay
Looked at him twice and did say

"Oh!"

(Movie called "Sling Blade" has really been stuck in my mind. Sling Blade spent years in
a mental institution for the murder of his mother and her lover. Actually"Sling Blade" was an
abused child that had the traits of a psychopath probably because of the abuse. But I
gathered that he was a deep thinker but kept it hidden and was unable to connect
emotionally because of the abuse."

It was late August the "summer of ’69."
Mike and I were "going on sixteen, "
"daydream believers."
chasing "Puff the Magic Dragon"
and "ice cream castles in the air."

We tied our transistor radios
to our bicycle handlebars.
The little speaker crackling
 between bursts of static,
 pulling melodies from unseen places.

Mike rode beside me,
his laughter keeping time
with the clicking spokes;
our pedals did "turn, turn, turn"
through our idyllic hometown,
our very own "land of Honah Lee."

We were living on "cloud nine" that "summer of '69."
At night, we kissed beneath
"moons and Junes and Ferris wheels,
feather canyons everywhere."

October arrived, and
"we frolicked in the autumn mist
in the land we called Honah Lee."

December came, "the leaves are brown
and the sky is a hazy shade of winter."
But in March, "here comes the sun;"
"April, come she will"
with her "new moon bright above and
cherry pink and apple blossoms white. "
It's the "time of the season
when love run high."

May afternoons stretched forever;
with our transistor radios,
we pedaled beneath elm trees,
certain every road curved
toward something wonderful.

The radio knew every shortcut
through the kingdom of sixteen
and the "land of Honah Lee."

"Monday, Monday" drifted from the speaker,
followed by "Do You Believe in Magic,"
and then "Daydream Believer,"
as if the air itself
had memorized the charts.

At sixteen, we never questioned the future.
Why would we?

"All you need is love"
seemed reasonable enough.
With very passing hour we wore
 our "Groovy Kind of Love"
 like a lucky charm.

We rode past porches,
baseball diamonds, and
fresh-cut lawns,
while somewhere beyond the water tower
there were always "Good Vibrations,"

The radio traveled everywhere with us~
through long twilights,
through summer thunderstorms,
through first kisses
and our almost goodbyes.

Songs spilled from that little box
like bright confetti:
"Bus Stop," "Mrs. Robinson,"
"Build Me Up Buttercup,"
while "The Sound of Silence"
arrived as the evening sky turned lavender above the rooftops.

We didn't know enough to recognize nostalgia
while we lived inside it.
We only knew the thrill
of hearing a favorite song
float from that little box,
as dependable as summer.

I hope this letter finds you well, happy with your choices,
And that your nose is not lifted up in disgust
At this last daring move that I made, so as to make
Myself heard one last time!

I just wanted to tell you to mind not the dark clouds
That I now carry in the celestial realms of my secret garden
As I have broken the pieces of the love that I held for you,
And I have burnt them in the depths of my own solitude!

My world shall remain the same one as you had known it
I am not leaving as, I have nowhere else to go,
But I have adjusted my sails in such a way
That I no more write of love songs, or of broken hearts,
But, I play, on my instruments, music entrancing enough
To connect with the source of my inner essence!

To be honest, I am just living as would an unfeeling robot
Going on my path as would a bird, feeding myself when needed,
And unfolding my wings when I feel like it and, of course,
Making as if, you never existed, while praying, all the time
For my final release from this world which had felt like home
Only at those times I was lost in the abyss of your gaze!

Still

my heart just wanted to walk away,
and pretend i never felt all this pain,
i believed all this time i was doing the right thing,
to avoid the hurt of you being gone intentionally,
to pretend as if it never existed inside,
to endure through the absence of missing time,
packed away in order to move on,
to deal with the fact that you were really gone,
how much could i feel without falling apart,
when im unable to express or understand what's going on in my heart
the love is still and unable to move,
and the avoidance was the only thing that got me through,
but then there comes a time when i must face,
all the things in my heart i intentionally erased,
and when that moment comes i can no longer hide,
all the tears and all the love i feel inside,
it can't be written down with a paper and pen,
it can only be when we are face to face again,

I Used To

Written By: D. Collins 5/3/24

I used to know somebody who was all that.
The very definition of what we call PHAT.
Pretty, hot, and tempting ain't what I'm saying.
Because the beauty I saw was underlying.

A well-kept secret God hid from me.
Then said, Homey, that's not your destiny.
He had something better, if I followed Him.
I'd get the top branch of crem de la crem.

I used to know somebody who had it going on.
But just couldn't be happy until I was gone.
Fate has set the stage, and it is in place.
I'll lay low until God grants me His grace.

Premium Member Breaking News

Every time you turn the television on these days there's breaking news
I can remember the days when a big news story was a fireman rescuing a cat from a tree was something we viewed
What has happened to our world to make it seem to be out of control
All this madness going on out there is surely taking its toll
Instead of talking things out these days, a person's first reaction seems to be rage
Our news media continues to spread bad news on all the world's stages
All is not all bad with our planet, however the feel-good stories are not all being told
We need to work together to allow innovative new ideas to unfold
If you checked your plumbing lately you would probably find the middle class going down the drain
The high cost of living is, and the struggle to survive is simply insane
The only breaking news I want to hear, that peace and harmony have returned to our lives
Things have to change for the better if we want our planet to survive
