The Work of the Wood Faeries
Orange chested robin was intrigued and pleased
Crone of a gardener woman down on her knees
Bird sat on the end of a used wooden spade
Bengal cat walked by, ignoring his shade.
Perky faerie perched on end of 1880’s chair,
There was much going on in this pure garden air.
Wood faeries are here, she said with a sniff.
Knew it this morning when I caught a whiff.
She said this matter-of-factly, not once but twice.
Robin replied quietly, “Well, isn’t that nice.”
Another faerie called snotty faerie to help her with barrow.
She gave bird a wave, he saw her eyes narrow.
Cat was back, more interested in robin now.
So he flew to the top of the faerie tree, an oaken wow.
Garden woman backed up to her flower farm chair
Sat down quietly, scattering faeries that were sitting there
First planting day we had in a great while!
Woman seemed satisfied, showed a wonderful smile.
Wood faeries gathered, came back to their house.
Lambasted lazy garden faeries, purely fun grouse.
