"Swallowing the Diamond"
It’s all a gamble
when you think about
words
"I Do,"
She said
swallowing the diamond
The truth arrives
one way or another
neat or untidy
out the other end

"Hot Damn" / Ivy Levan

"If any female feels she needs anything beyond herself to legitimate and validate her existence, she is already giving away her power to be self-defining, her agency."
"Of course I am not worried about intimidating men. The type of man who will be intimidated by me is exactly the type of man I have no interest in."
"Loving does not at first mean merging, surrendering, and uniting with another person ... Once the realization is accepted that even between the closest people infinite distance exists, a marvelous living side-by-side can grow up for them, if they succeed in loving the expanse between them, which gives them the possibility of seeing each other as a whole before an immense sky."
"Don't settle for a relationship that won't let you be yourself."
"The trouble with some women is that they get all excited about nothing — and then marry him."
"So I began to think maybe it was true that when you were married and had children it was like being brainwashed, and afterward you went about as numb as a slave in a totalitarian state."
"It's important to marry somebody who is your equal and to be with somebody who wants you to win as much as you want them to win."
Response:
"Marriage is a fine institution, but I'm not ready for an institution."
What is it about a person
That you can’t get enough of
What is it about that someone
That makes you change your lifestyle for the better
Is this what I’ve been missing out on
What is it about a person
That no matter how gloomy your days seem
The world no longer matters, only them
What is it
That allows forgiveness to become the scar
That wounds who you are
What is it about the person you always miss
Is that what has brought me to this
You know what’s meant to be
But you’d rather gamble fate and see what really is
Why is it that we are at our best
When we are in our weakest hours
Why do we run from the things we enjoy
Why am I so afraid to say, “It’s You”
Sometimes we get caught in the moment
And no longer realize who we are
Coincidentally we are human
And moments are filled with lust, beauty
and sometimes something more
When I see you, I want to run the other way
I assume you feel the same
Is it the rain that you find comfort in
Or do you find it lovely
The way it surrounds you snug and closely
I’m not hurting
I’m just getting use to not having you
If all things come down to this
And this is goodnight
Then I am stranded by our last kiss
Moving force
I foretold a prophecy
I told them I will wait for God time
They thought it was just poetry
Now The youth are out on the streets again
The echoes of needs are high
With the voices of anger all over Nigeria
Demanding to be set free from poverty
Another hunger protest on the streets
Of Nigeria again
Where are the government
I hope they could feel the needs
And angry youths
Whose life is a gamble
Shattered and used for a political gain
Were is the president
Whose words of changes remains invisible
The changes he bleeds is killing us
On daily bases
Our family can't feed
Our parents work to be on debt
Our kids are growing up prematurely
Our old can't get no pention
Our mothers are hungry
Our economy is folding to bankruptcy
The youth cant find no job after school
Our cost of living is over 300percent inflated still with low wages
Every day keep getting worst
Our situation are unbearable
The people can't endure the pain no more
the only thing left is to fight For freedom
Cos there is nothing to lose anyways
So now the youth are out
on the streets again
This evil conditions of hard life
has turn them today to a
Moving force
Moving force
Their comes a day of change
Their comes a time of reinforcement
Their comes a period of truth
Our reality must be rearrange
The only land we have is on captive
Captivated by the powers whose
Aim are not for our growth
Their actions has triggered our
Reaction to protest again
Their greed has been killing our dreams
Their system keeps us begging
Their rules demolishes our integrity
They are never royal to our needs
Our life is full of agony and sorrows
Despite how much stronger we strive
Our days are like the days of no solution
Their evils are obvious
And here comes another time
To stand against a bad governance again
So don't blame the people
Whose life is nothing good to write about
when they join forces
fighting for their rights
And now all they could be
From all they have passed through
A very bad governance
is nothing else but a
Moving force
A decision, a choice, a journey into the unknown.
Loss of rationale, uncertain, hope becomes wind blown.
A gamble, a threat, a tear or a reason to rejoice.
A journey into the unknown, a decision, a choice.
Enter the desperate, and the brave, those without a care.
Consequence a mystery, its onward for mortals who dare.
Hidden behind the door, the unwanted or what we crave.
Those without a care enter the desperate and the brave.
Too risky to take a chance, so wait for a door that's open wide.
Perceptions of what lies within, the uncertain door does hide.
Its easier to sit it out than make the effort to dance.
So wait for a door that's open wide, too risky to take a chance.
Opportunities gone by, and the outcome will never be realized.
Was misfortune hidden beyond that door, to be despised,
Or riches beyond the wildest of dreams to make hopes high?
And the outcome will never be known, opportunities gone by.
Life is what you make it, and there is nothing totally certain.
The answer is not to hide behind a safety net, throw back that curtain.
You wont score a goal, if you dont take a shot, step up and take it.
And there is nothing totally certain, life is what you make it.
Life is a gamble, you win you'll loose
They price as you bargin.
Where I assumed each category fell
Into different areas to be protected;
Such as most frequent:
*Career
*Family
*Friends
Though there are many different choices,
As we choose them; which are the most
Common such as:
*Violence
*Drugs
*Alcohal
*Abuse and Neglect
These are certain things that have lead us
Into trouble like cops and jail-time, if not chosen
Properly; or carefully
So please choose wisely just say no! As
D.A.R.E. becomes the rock to survival. Stay ahead
And not on the run have fun, but not too much: know
When to quit.
Don't let go of the little things, keep in mind time is presious...
Don't get wasted or loose control of what's in front of you.
Don't be dumb to retrieve dumbness of your only intelligence, be
Smart and live. Don't let friends or anyone else drive while under
The influence of any subtence including NyQuil...
A TRIBUTE TO ALL OUR POLICE OFFICERS
Someone told me,
Chess is like the art of war
No matter the bluff
Show weakness and doubt
Have the courage to stand the last factor
Never lose hope
This is the way of the king.
You really have two brushes to play and win
The real king does not exist on the chessboard
It's in the heart.
And the so-called kingly way is not winning
The chess game
It's not about gamble and unscrupulous in the mall
But spread benevolence and righteousness to the world.
Rich people speak with reason
Rich people believe in kingship
The rich believe what they say.
Actually, I really want to go back to the countryside now
Leave the big city
And became a farmer there.
There is a mountain spring
Or better to have a field
To plant trees for shade
Not withstanding the flaming sword
Beacon honor to the world
Continue, studying chess just from the silence
And take a chance to soul-search from within.
He's really not,
that in to you
a man the loves you
through and through
will be there waiting
calling you
His sister runs
the barricade
he's really not
that in to you
if you want love
heres what you do
find a lover
that wants you
Make a list
of what you want
a man that does not
drink alot
a man that does not
gamble waste
a man that will
fix up your place
if you want to have a life
don't put up with seconds strife
find a man
that's good and true
a man
that will look after you
a man that wants
a good career
but also wants
the time to share
a man that likes
to take the kids
gives you a break
that is worth quids
your agony aunt
is quick to say
build a life
thats full of play
the couple
that enjoys each day
is built to last
and stay that way
Arising from the south-west, us to bless,
Ye strike nigh like an invading army,
In a month’s time to conquer all country,
An invader benevolent, I guess.
Ye pour here, pause there, lay anchor in grace,
Then change gears to sprint, frenzy thy furrow,
In myriads of moods not easy to know,
We worry, ye arrive when late in laze.
It’s monsoon mood that goes to greet green earth,
Which, man has done damndest dire to destroy,
Pity, he blames thou as erratic still,
Whilst always indulging in a vain mirth.
As Nature’s child, bestow to us fair joy,
To hope, man learns seems a faith uphill.

Sonnet |10.05.2024| rain
Poet’s note: With the south-west monsoon, a gamble in hope, ready to break anytime, this sonnet verges on a wishful thinking.
Worship not your turtles on Tuesday
Driving a convertible in traffic is inadvisable
Places you at risk, in peril of bird droppings
Never yawn with mouth open and head up
Yawning is sacrilegious with seat belts off
If you have daughters, don't!
They are not turtles and this is not Vegas
If you have sons, feed them peanuts
They will not become elephants all of a sudden
But they are cheaper than you think
And much cheaper than pink
If you play cards on Thursday be warned
Turtles don't drink or smoke or gamble
Too many decks makes them sleepy
Don't worry about convertibles
Turtles drive trucks but not well
Never on Doomsday or Wednesday
That would be asking too much
They have trouble with the clutch
Doomsdays come around once in a lifetime
Never on Wednesday because that is canasta night
Beer and pretzels are free
(Bring your own pretzels and beer)
Leave your turtles at home
Worship them not on Tuesday
Canasta should never be trifled with
Bring two decks for security
Now I believe in
When the electronic machine said “I win”
Resorting in a town called city of sin
Coins dropped from below
Real American money you know
Proper start to my romantic night
Prime Rib, Lobster, and waistline ever so tight
This is something I believe in
Shaking my tonic and gin
Waiting for my next of kin
Suddenly she appears
Having a sneer
“Did you make the reservations for dinner?”
“You being such a winner”
“No,” I replied
After hearing what she cried
Shaking the Casino plastic container
That quieted my wedding bliss complainer
“We eat for free
You and me”
I reported
To the one I once courted
“That is what I see
Now maybe they will waive the entertainment fee”
Leaving my drink leaning on the machine slot
No longer needing another shot
I welcomed her with a hug
Since she was my love bug
“So how much is there?”
She gave me a stare
“Enough for two rib eyes
No lie
Shall we go
And afterwards take in a show.”
She then whispered in my ear
Starting with “Oh dear”
“Now I believe in
What you were past due in
Had a certain purpose
No strings or curses.”
Walking hand in hand
They passed a man
Who just smiled
Knowing tonight the deuce was wild
Paid off in style
With a pair
Cashing in on a lifetime affair
